In the mail today from the author, Escape from Passing Winds which came all the way from Tassie in 5 days. See, Australia Post can do it if they try! They have a consistency problem, though: 6 weeks from Melbourne, 3 weeks from Sydney, 5 days from Tassie!

I just got The Runaway Children: Gripping and heartbreaking historical fiction by Sandy Taylor

Love Historical stories - and children being evacuated to the country in WWII Britain are a particular favourite as mum's family took two children in and Mum and my aunt are still firm friends with their billets to this day (all 4 of them are in their 80s now).

Mum told some terrible stories of one or two of the other 'refugee' kids that went to other families in their small town and life was pretty bad for them - but for the most part they were treated well!
