The MC is a young woman. I believe she is in the category of people wearing red. She is forced to have sex with a married man and expected to conceive his child. The man's wife wears blue (possibly because she is unable to conceive?). Somebody suggests to the MC that she find a way to get pregnant even if it isn't by the man she's supposed to be with. She is in love with another man, I can't remember if she gets pregnant by him or not.

The main thing I remember is the colors everyone wears. I don't remember what the men wear. The women wear either blue (the wives) or red (mistresses??) and the children wear white.

I believe they adapted it into a movie.
