Caitlin Francis I've had a pretty slow couple of months reading wise, research & writing just takes up so much of my time and energy!

I'm still reading Magician & have to admit that although I enjoyed it initially I am finding it a tad boring now.

I started reading Mistborn: The Final Empire (very late to the party, I know) & I am really enjoying it so far

Sumant | 85 comments Here is my re-read review of The Great Hunt 2nd book in WOT series.

Squire (srboone) I read the Shannara trilogy: Sword, Elfstones and Wishsong; plus the novella Indomitable as part of my 2016 Epic Shannara Quest.

I'll pick back up in May with The Heritage of Shannara series after I spend April catching up on my "classics" challenge.

Here is my quest to date:

Squire's 2016 Epic Shannara Quest

I loved Clash, it's Feast for Crows and A Dance With Dragons that are the big step down in my opinion. I didn't even finish Dance actually, started it the day it was released and was just thoroughly disappointed, especially after a long wait for a disappointing 4th book and an even longer wait for an even more dreary fifth book. I'll probably revisit it some day, but right now there's too much out there for me to read to worry about tackling books I don't overly enjoy.

I want to re-read the original Shannara trilogy badly before moving on to the later books. I could kick myself for trading in my old copy of The Sword of Shannara, since I now can't find ANY version of the book at any Half Price Bookstore. :(

Jonathan | 17 comments Just finished Blood Song by Anthony Ryan - a very entertaining novel, and I really enjoyed the main character. I am somewhat bummed with the reviews that I have read about the second book (Tower Lord), but I'm sure i will get to it eventually.

Recently started Mistborn - Final Empire. Sanderson sure knows how to write; I'm only about 50 pages in and I'm already hooked. I have high expectations based on the first two stormlight archive novels (and mistborn reviews), and it doesn't seem like Sanderson will disappoint!

Best,
Jonathan

Caitlin Francis The thing is with ASOIAF on a whole is that there are often characters you love and are genuinely interested in and then those that you couldn't care less about. I actually quite enjoyed Feast For Crows, Brienne is one of my favourite characters and it was interesting to see her story unravel. DWD was a bit of a hard slog in the end...I was so excited for it and read it over a day or two, but if you asked me what happened in it now I wouldn't remember...
Part of me wishes you could read the series like a choose your own adventures, just following the story of an individual character(s). In saying all of that i will no doubt pounce on The Winds of Winter when it is eventually released, whether I like it is another thing all together

Kyra Halland (kyrahalland) | 47 comments Read The Magic Mines of Asharim by Pauline M. Ross and Ishtar's Blade by Lisa Blackwood. Now I'm on to Fate Fallen by Sharon Stevenson. I'm also reading Heart of the Sunset, a classic western-romance (from 1915?) set along the Texas-Mexico border during the Mexican revolution. I haven't been able to find much about it online, but it's pretty enjoyable so far.

I enjoyed Tower Lord quite a bit, and I haven't read the last one yet, but I think the first one was better than the second. It's definitely still worth reading and I personally rated it 5*. That being said, I can recall more details from the Blood Song than Tower Lord. It was good, but now that I try to think back, it wasn't terribly memorable.

Margret I actually liked Tower Lord more than I liked Blood Song. It's written a little different but the story really grew in Tower Lord. Queen of Fire is where things get a tad dicey.
