Oh gosh I just finished this and need to re read TMI, missed all the characters so much. I can't but into words how I felt while reading those last few chapters. Emma has guts to do what she does but it's a bit frustrating. For those still reading, have fun ;)

I really want to meet Jace and Clary again, and maybe Tessa and Magnus. Maybe Jem too? I'm curious what it meant by saying Jem quit being a Silent Brother. What does he do now? Chapter 17: (view spoiler)[ Aw, I love these scenes from the past. The one just then was so sweet, I was excited to meet Jem, Tessa, Jace, and Clary again all in one scene. It's awful that Emma and Julian both think the others would find their feelings for each other disgusting. I'm wondering why the Clave made it illegal to have a romantic relationship with your parabatai though. It doesn't make much sense to me, wouldn't that just strengthen the bond? (hide spoiler)]

I guess I was looking too hard for the Magnus parallel but maybe thats what Clare wanted. I've been having the feeling that Diana has been involved in something but if Malcolm is the Guardian what could Diana be involved in? Maybe we were supposed to suspect her but she really isn't bad at all? Ugh so much suspense but I can't finish until tomorrow! (hide spoiler)]

Done: (view spoiler)[ That was so good, but I didn't really like the end bit where Emma broke it off with Julian and decided to pretend to date Mark. At first when I thought it would just be Emma breaking it off with Julian I wasn't too distraught and could see the Will parallel, but once she went to make Mark pretend I wasn't really feeling it. It just doesn't seem realistic or fitting to the story or characters. I was considering rating this book 4 instead of 4.5 just for that bit at the end but decided against it. Also why did Annabel end up waking up at the end? Maybe a Blackthorn didn't really need to be killed, only have blood spilled? Or maybe Johnny Rook had Blackthorn blood in him? Hm, many mysteries. I zoomed through this book so quickly. I just love Cassandra Clare's world and it was great to get back into it!
Ch 1 (view spoiler)[ Emma and Julian just have to be the first parabatai to get married and not have their runes stripped.
The demon markings are interesting. Are they a ruse meant to distract from who really is behind them? (hide spoiler)]
Ch 3 (view spoiler)[ It's neat that all the kids want to help Emma in some way. Shows they really are a family. Also, it appears both Emma and Julian have feelings for each other, so it's not just 1-sided as it appeared to be in Chapter 1. (hide spoiler)]
Ch 4 (view spoiler)[ Holy moly! Julian is definitely in love with Emma. You can't say things like this and not be in love!

Ch 12 (view spoiler)[ Poor Christina. I thought perhaps she had found someone, but it seems Mark is in love with Kieran - but maybe it's only because he is familiar and helped him with the Hunt and his feelings of being a Shadowhunter. (hide spoiler)]
Ch 17 (view spoiler)[ I think Emma and Jules' bond is stronger than most because of their love for one another. I hope Emma is ok.
I liked the little snippet from their parabatai ceremony - cute and it adds more depth to their characters. (hide spoiler)]
Ch 19 (view spoiler)[ I'm glad the Followers are gone for now but I feel like they'll be back soon and with the evil necromancer or whatever it is that's killing everyone. (hide spoiler)]
Ch 23 (view spoiler)[ They're finally putting it all together and unfortunately, Malcolm is the bad guy - I totally did not expect that! I am sad to know their friend has hurt them! (hide spoiler)]
Ch 24 (view spoiler)[ I'm glad Kieran came to help but horrified at what lengths Malcolm went to in order to raise Annabel.
I wonder if the rune is different because they love each other in an eros kind of love, not just philia? (hide spoiler)]
Ch 27 (view spoiler)[ I feel so bad for Emma and Jules - but I understand her need to try to protect Jules from the power. But her and Mark will just hurt so bad - for both of them!

Did she forget about Mark or was she forced to listen to the Clave’s rule about abandoning the search for him. When Emma was like the law is flexible she reminded me so much of Jace & Will. Love the dynamic between Cristina & Emma, but I’m so excited for Julian to come back!! YASS MY BABIES <3 They’re so cute. I love that Cristina wants to help make the treatment of faeries better, the Cold Peace is so wrong. Where’s Magnus? I hope he shows up at some point!!! (hide spoiler)]

Is this because of how they feel for one another??? I hope they tell each other, they need to! OMG Mark & Kieran are adorable. So cute! Though I'm sad for Cristina. Her and Mark would've made a nice pairing. I really like the friendship between Cristina & Emma more and more. Also who the hell was that on the roof with the crossbow?? (hide spoiler)]

I enjoyed the parabatai ceremony snippet, it shows how deeply Emma & Julian's bond runs. I love Jem! So happy he finally told Emma he is a Carstairs, but what are he and Tessa looking for? Church, I love that cat! <3 I want to know what happened to Cristina and I think Mark might be able to get it out of her. If only Kieran didn't get jealous and crush that acorn message. I thought CoHF was amazing, but this just freaking blows it out of the water. I'm so happy that Julian & Emma finally admitted their feelings for each other. The scene on the beach was so chaotic at first I wasn't sure if they actually did it or not. But they did. Good thing Clary made that contraceptive rune! Emma is way too brave and sassy for her own good, she managed to take that whipping for Julian, I wanted to cry. Then the dream thing with her parents and OMG Jem will be back. Then she explained why she did what she did and all the tears! I can't believe Tavvy is taken! :((((((( (hide spoiler)]

I got up to chapter 7 last night and so far I'm really enjoying it. I love that there are still mentions and appearances from my favourite characters from TMI and TID. It's so interesting to see the effects of the Dark War.

I loved seeing everyone's reaction to the Faeries bringing Mark back to the Institute and keep wondering how they're going to hide it from the Clave and bring him around to seeing his family five years on. Seeing Magnus come back into it makes me wonder whether he will be playing a larger role in this series and help Emma and the Institute in finding her parents murderers as well as attempting to decipher the marks on the victim's body (hide spoiler)]

Thats a big NO NO and as for Mark turns out he is Gay. That seems to be a very common theme in this book as when ever they mention a marriage its a same sex marriage. (hide spoiler)]
