Toxins in our toothpaste

Has anyone else noticed how awful toothpaste taste lately? I've been changing my toothpaste a lot lately because of this. Still, all the well-known brands taste about the same, so I started reading the ingredients to see if I could find one that didn't have certain ingredients like sodium saccharin (never been a fan of this sweetener). No luck. So I did an internet search this morning and learned that most toothpaste contain the below toxins:

Sodium fluoride, titanium dioxide, sodium hydroxide, mica, sodium lauryl sulfate (SLS), blue 1 aluminium lake, sodium saccharin, polyethylene, hydrated silica, sorbitol, xanthan gum, cellulose gum (chemically-treated), carbomer, Carrageenan.

After reading a few articles, I am trying to decide between Uncle Harry's Natural Toothpaste - Peppermint (3 Oz Glass Jar) sold for $9.95/unit on Amazon and Earthpaste (4 oz/unit) sold as a 4-pack for $21.49 on Amazon.

I'm leaning more toward Uncle Harry's, mainly because it's initially cheaper to try out first and can be easily recycled. Has anyone in the group used either?

I did read a couple of articles that explained how to make your own organic toothpaste, but I am not able to commit to that.

Wow, I had no idea that there were such toxins in toothpaste. Thank you for letting us know. I will be checking out this toothpaste that you have found. Sounds much healthier.

Isn't this crazy, Vicki? The toxic ingredients help the manufacturers make these products cheaply, all in the name of making a bigger profit while consumers are slowly being poisoned. It's truly shameful of them to do so. I'm relieved that my body finally alerted me that something wasn't right with the toothpastes that I've been buying.

I looked up the ingredients in Uncle Harry's and Earthpaste to see what they were. Apparently, the bentonite clay (found in both I think) is highly beneficial according to this article: http://draxe.com/10-bentonite-clay-be... written by a doctor that Dr. Oz has had on his show.

Wow, it is made from Volcano dirt. Lots of minerals in there too. I will be researching this and how to make my own. I do not like the thoughts of all those chemicals in my mouth.

1/2 cup baking soda (I use Bob's Red Mill)
1/4 cup extra virgin coconut oil

2 tsp. peppermint extract (I use this brand: http://go.magik.ly/r/ashleysgreenlife...)
Directions:
Combine ingredients and store in a jar or container until ready to use!
