We welcome three new Golden Voices—Cassandra Campbell, Michael Crouch, and Soneela Nankani. AFM now has 41 Golden Voices, an award given to the best of the best narrators. I don’t know about you, but I love a good western and don’t read them as often as I do mysteries. “Ming Tsu is a Chinese American assassin on a journey of redemption and revenge in this riff on the classic Western.” Sounds like there’s something for everyone here; history, magical realism, action, immigration, and westward migration.

MacLeod Andrews has been recording audio books for a number of years now. He's known for his versatility with characterizations and his joy of the performance. Candace and MacLeod trade questions and answers which shed light on MacLeod's passion for the sound book and his joy of getting his narration just right. After reading MacLeod's answers to Candace's questions, go back and try the six or seven audio books mentioned in the introductory part of the interview. I'm going to try three of them today.

Candace Levy and Narrator Sophie Amoss discuss everything from what to wear, or rather what not to wear, in a sound booth; how to prep for the project; and even how to prevent every performance from sounding the same. No matter how many times I read the interviews, I always learn something new. Much thanks to Candace Levy for asking probing questions of narrators so we, the listeners understand all the hard work that goes into making good audio performances.

I'm like you. Before I commit to listening to the audio book, I want to know more about it. Michele Cobb, an AFM Editor, hosted narrators Leon Nixon, Tyla Collier, and Golden Voices Robin Miles and Dion Graham who spoke about on bringing history to life for listeners.
