I will kick this off.
My 2016 goal is to start writing Reviews again. I stopped a long time ago and always meant to get back into it. Hopefully I'll be successful!

Those are lofty goals!
Those are lofty goals!
I'm reading War and Peace! And I just saw the television series. I'm surprised at how readable the book is compared to other classics I have read. It reads very quickly though I have a hard time keeping the characters straight.
I don't even know if I will get through it! But it's a possibility...I don't have book goals. I just read when I want to.
I have 5 books-longest-on-TBR to read for the year (I've already read two!). One of them is Dr. Zhivago.

But now I've started reading a little bit of it, and you're right, it's way more readable than I was expecting! And I thought since I saw the TV mini-series recently I'd have faces to put to the names & I could keep all the characters straight more easily, and so far it's working!
Well...great minds think alike! And if we forget who they were on the tv show we can look them up online! It was never on my TBR either. But I happened to come across it as a freebie. I didn't realize it was quite so long. I have not been consistent reading it. I have been reading other things too.

But I think I'm going to try to keep plugging along with it. Let me know how you get along with it! :)
Okay, I think I'm on chapter 27. I have read about 398 pages. I'm reading it on iBooks and that seems to line up with the online version too. I guess the paper version is the same.
You're quite a bit ahead of me but I'll keep going and we can keep in touch and give moral support when we feel like we want to quit!! ;)
ilikeboox wrote: "I'll let you catch up! *wink*"Yeah -- thanks -- It may be awhile! Hope you're not holding your breath! ;)
So ... would you be interested in a "buddy reads" folder ... where you could post a book that is NOT our group read (like War and Peace ... and invite other members to read it with you?
If so ... I'd be happy to set up the folder for you ... and even set up the topic if you don't feel comfortable doing it on your own.
Just let me know.

That's so nice of you, Book Concierge. I don't know because I am not reading it on a steady basis but I guess we could give it a go. What do you think, Terris?

Maybe because we're not reading it on a steady basis -- I'm afraid we may lose track of our progress with each other & this might be helpful. Thanks, BC!
And I will try to get to Ch. 27 (fairly) soon -- you don't have to wait for me though -- you might want to keep trudging along. I'm afraid if you sit down to rest, you may never want to get up again!
I just keep trying to remember the faces from the TV show. Working so far, but I'm not very far in -- good luck!
I tried that...you are obviously having better luck than I do. I didn't exactly follow the TV show so well...I'm that annoying person who asks all the questions: "...who is that man?...I don't remember that man, is he a new character?...why is he doing that?...is this the same show?...did you change the channel?"
Book Concierge wrote: "Okay ... you have a buddy reads folder. And I started a War and Peace topic for you."Thank you!!

We must be clones of each other -- I'm constantly asking questions & predicting what I think will happen (that means talking through the whole show!). And the rest of the time I'm looking stuff up on IMDB about the actors or on Google about the history of the story they are telling (such as Bridge of Spies). I'm thinking we'd never get through a show if we were watching together!!

Thank you! How fun, we're famous, Terris!
Yes, because we would definitely have to pause the show each time we start talking or it would be even harder to figure out what's going on. And I think we need more snacks. Let's see what's in the kitchen...
Could I join the party? I started to read it last year but became one of those slackers who put the book down and skillfully procrastinated until now. :)

It can be anything like...finally read War & Peace...or...organize my TBR list.
So, what are your goals?
