Christina (scenery) | 1 comments Hello everyone!

I am very excited about the SFF awards for 2016! Hopefully I will find some gems in Science Fiction and Fantasy that I didn't get to read last year and see some of the great works in both genres get some much-deserved recognition!

Jay (okay_jay) | 10 comments Hello, I'm James. I really liked last year's awards, but didn't have a horse in any race as I had read only one of the nominees (The Martian). So it will be fun to read along and actually have a clue for once.

message 3: by [deleted user] (new)

Hello!
I'm Ellie, and last year I found out about the award nominees a little too late to participate, but I'm really looking to joining in this time round and reading things I wouldn't usually pick up :D

Hello everyone! I am one of the judges, Kaitlin, and my channel is: Kitty G and I am very happy to be back for round #2 of the BooktubeSFF Awards.
I have already nominated most of my works but I need to find one more short fiction so I may read some of the ones you listed Elizabeth and then edit my nomination (which you can do by returning to the nominations form before it closes on the 22nd) if I find something else worthy :)

MusicalTati | 6 comments Hello in 2016! I'm Tatiana from MusicalTati on YouTube (https://m.youtube.com/#/user/MusicalTati). I had a BLAST reading the selections for the awards last year. While I didn't get to all of them, I was introduced to some new authors & new platforms & really, we're all looking for more things to read. Lol. I'm a primarily backlist reader so I am looking forward to the nominations for this year so that I can add some current releases with my planned TBR & participate in the community discussion!

message 6: by Christina (new)

Christina Pilkington | 4 comments Hi! I'm Christina. I read prodominately sci fi and fantasy, both adult and YA. I really enjoyed watching the SFF Awards show last year, and am about to go vote after posting this intro! I'm looking forward to reading along with this group the short list nominations.

message 7: by Nicole (new)

Nicole (nicolepo) | 107 comments Hello all, my name is Nicole and my youtube channel is Nicole's Adventures in SFF. I am a returning judge once again this year. I do most of the behind the scenes stuff in terms of managing the google docs, collecting the nominations and popular vote information and tallying it. If you have any issues with nominating, please ask me.

I read almost anything with a strong preference for science fiction and fantasy. I'm looking forward to another great year of readalongs this BooktubeSFF awards season :)

message 8: by Paul (new)

Paul (paul_sff) | 70 comments Hey everyone, I'm Paul from Common Touch of Fantasy, https://www.youtube.com/commontouchof... and I'm lucky enough to be one of the judges.

I feel like I represent a lot of the average every day type of fantasy and science fiction reader. I love epic fantasy, the more detailed the better, and really imaginative complex science fiction. I'm not a huge idea and theme guy but I love good world-building. I focus more on plot than a lot of SFF booktubers that review and I can get annoyed easily by an author that ignores tight plotting. I'm the type of guy that will take a mediocre book with an amazing ending over an amazing book with a mediocre ending.

I'm really looking forward to reading some awesome books and discussing them with everyone.

message 9: by Maryam (new)

Maryam | 10 comments Hello, my name is Maryam and I have a blog where I review SFF books ( https://thecurioussffreader.wordpress... ).
It's my second year nominating books for the Booktube SFF and since 2015 was such a great years in terms of books published, and I can't wait to see the shortlist!

message 10: by Sarah (new)

Sarah (sarahevermotionbooks) Hi! I'm Sarah, I have a small blog I like to post small reviews, tags, and thoughts on (http://allbookedupblog.com). I've been lurking around for awhile, and watched last year's awards but wasn't able to participate. I'm really excited to nominate and read along with the books this year though, a lot of excellent stuff came out last year - especially in the short fiction area. I can't wait to see what everyone nominates.

message 11: by [deleted user] (new)

Hey, I'm Jane from yesmissjane (https://www.youtube.com/user/yesmissjane) and I love SF, so will be taking part again! I am trying to (quickly! Before nominations close!) collate a useful list of works eligible for nomination. If everyone could take a minute to look at what I have so far and tell me which of your favourites I'm missing, I would really appreciate it. https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...

message 12: by Brock (new)

Brock (brockroberts) | 13 comments Hello, I'm Brock from Let's Read

Excited to watch another year of awards unfold. For all the books I can nominate there will be a bunch that I'm looking forward to reading.

message 13: by Jocelyn (new)

Jocelyn | 2 comments Hello everyone, I am Jocelyn from The Owl's Perch. (https://www.youtube.com/c/theowlsperch) Fantasy and sci-fi are my favorite genres, though I read with quite a varied taste. I've been behind on recent releases for a while, so I look forward to seeing what the nominations will be and see what has been recently published in the genre.

message 14: by Leo(nie) (new)

Leo(nie) (lemongreen_bird) | 1 comments Hi! I'm Leo and I read a lot of different genres, but science fiction is still my first love and favorite genre.
I already voted and realized, that I somehow managed to read no sf books published last year. So I nominated only short stories. I guess reading the shortlist will be a great way to catch up to the books I missed last year.

message 15: by Katherine (new)

Katherine (maybeandroid) Hi I'm Katherine from The Android's Conundrum. I'm looking forward to nominating and then reading and discussing the shortlisted books.

message 16: by Maija (new)

Maija (maijavi) Hi there, I'm Maija from Maija Reads.

I read mostly fantasy, but also some science fiction. I look for books with great characters and a writing style that pleases me: some of my favourites are Robin Hobb and Susanna Clarke. I tend to like slower books, like The Goblin Emperor. I'm a big fan of alternate magical Regency (fantasy of manners) and political/court intrigue fantasy.

I'm looking forward to the Awards, I had a lot of fun last year. I hope I have enough time to read all the shortlisted books in the shorter time we have this year!

message 17: by Sarah (new)

Sarah (sarahannehayes) Hi everyone! I'm Sarah from Sarah Anne Reads.

I haven't read tons of science fiction or fantasy in my lifetime beyond HP and LOTR, so they're both genres that are still pretty new to me. I'm excited to discover some great recommendations and jump into the genres a bit more! :)

message 18: by Otavio (new)

Otavio Galileu (otaviogalileu) | 6 comments Hello everyone!

So happy the awards are happening again this year! I'm Otavio and my channel is The Galilean Library.

I read a mostly even split of Fantasy and Science Fiction, generally in the adult age-range, with some Literary Fiction, Mysteries and Horror peppered in here and there.

Thomas Wagner | SFF180 (sff180) | 49 comments Mod
Hey everyone, Thomas here from SFF180. So I'm a judge this year again, and my website is nearly 15 years old, which blows my mind. Pretty soon it will be staying out too late and asking for the carkeys.

message 20: by Derek (new)

Derek Bailey (drock5400) | 27 comments Hi all,

I'm so happy this is happening again this year. I had a lot of fun reading some the nominees on the shortlist last year and look forward to participating in some new readalongs. I don't have a ton of time to dedicate to reading so it is always nice to see what other people are enjoying and to get involved in some bookish discussions!

message 21: by Matt (new)

Matt Carl (pressenter) | 55 comments I guess I haven't said hello yet this year. I am Matt and I just read. No YouTube or anything.

AliceAnn | 2 comments Hi everybody, I'm Alice Ann. I've loved watching all the booktube judges posting all their videos about this awesome event, and I'm totally psyched! I've read a (very) few of these already, and loved them. And some of the others I've been looking forward to reading since they came out; I'm hoping this will light the fire under me to finally read them! Happy reading everybody!

message 27: by Adam (new)

Adam Hello!!! I'm Kimberly! :)

I do not have a Youtube channel (though I'm seriously debating starting one), but I AM a Readers Advisory Librarian at an incredible library. I also read a ton of books, and most recently I've become more interested in Sci Fi and Fantasy. Looking forward to hearing your thoughts on all of the books chosen this year!
