Now, I don't know if this counts as another Bond topic and if Felix deems it as such and is unhappy about it, he is free to delete this discussion thread at his discretion.

They've been mostly small productions and made the titanic mistake of pretending that Ian Fleming WAS James Bond. Which we all know he wasn't. That lie has been one of the major stumbling blocks which have caused all the little TV dramas and that BBC series to crash and burn.
The question of the thread is this. What would it take to make the perfect film about Ian Fleming, not the most feasible, not the most affordable, but one which is just right, one which captures the true essence of the man behind the immortal name which continues to influence spy fiction half a century later. I would love to hear your thoughts, about where the focus should be, how one could pragmatically condense the most important bits and cut out the chaff, and who would be the perfect actor or actors to play the man himself?
Maybe such a film should concentrate on the period's atmosphere and mentality within the British Secret Servives of the time, along with Ian Fleming's connections to it. Rendering that milieu and the geopolitical atmosphere in which it existed should make it a most interesting film in my opinion.
