Quarterly Read-a-thon Friday 4th - Sunday 6th March 2016
do the challenge guidelines like min of 125 pages apply here? Surely we are just looking at total pages read?I'm in, anyway!
and if I read a short story less than 125 pages, would those pages not count? because that's in the challenge guidelines....

Parts of books count if they are over 125 to start with - books under 125 don't count:)

OK, hmmmm, well, I see now that magazines (and I guess pharmacy journals will come under that banner) also don't count, so that will take my totals down quite a bit. Beginning of the month is when I am obliged to devote a bit of time to those, and I always like to read the Good Weekend on Sunday morning.
Ah well, as long as we have Bette and Brenda and some of those big readers in, we have a chance of getting to 20,000.
This may be the first one where I have a free weekend to spend reading! Though that may change by then of course.
Count me in, although I'm visiting family that weekend, so I might not be able to get much reading done... but hopefully i'll be able to contribute a bit :)
Sounds great. I'd love to join. I'm not a quick reader but everything helps to hit the 20,000 goal right!
I'm in! Do textbooks count? Semester has just started so there's some fairly heavy reading in my future. I will, of course, be breaking that up with reading for fun as well :)

You need to read - or attempt to read - the whole book.

And as long as they have 125 pages or more to start with Judi:)

Thanks Sally & Brenda. It's 400 pages and I always start semester with the best intentions of a full read-through for context before focusing on specifics. Rarely accomplish it, but always have the intention!
I've decided I am going to read
The Beast's Garden by Kate Forsyth for the read-a-thon. It is a huge tome of just over 500 pages - so If I commit to just the one book, I'll get it read easily in the time frame and be guaranteed a good reading experience from one of my favourite authors :)
May also be able to fit another smaller book in as well - I have been averaging between 600 and 800 for the read-a-thon
I've just put in my hold requests at the library for the coming Read-a-thon. While I want to knock off at least one title from the March Madness or Autumn Quarterly challenges, I find that the read-a-thon lends itself to those cosy romances and light-hearted novels that you can power through at a cracking pace. Improves one's overall page total enormously. Mr Sparks and Ms Macomber are on order!!

Looking forward to it. Have decided to ditch the textbook for some mystery. Supposed to be a bit drizzly here in Bris over the weekend, so perfect reading weather.

As our last Read-a-thon didn't quite make the challenge of 20,000 pages, we'll leave it at that for this one:) GOAL - 20,000 pages
Don't forget our Challenge Guidelines here
Please post your interest here in this thread up until we begin the challenge - when the weekend is over the page numbers read will be tallied:)
If possible, check in at least once a day, more often if you want. Our cut off time for you to add your final totals will be 12noon Monday 7th AEST:)
