The Girls and Homegoing were already on my TBR. I added the Maggie O'Farrell book, The Return: Fathers, Sons, and the Land in Between, and Underground Airlines.
BnB, have you looked at The Return: Fathers, Sons, and the Land in Between? It looks like something you would be interested in.

It does sound really good and perfect for this months PBT, but it is $30.00 hardcover at Amazon.
No, found it cheaper and on kindle... the goodreads link had a higher priced version.

Not a bad length either - under 300 pages. My library has the kindle version.

A little life also got an A-, but The Signature of All Things and another of my favourites Questions of Travel returned nothing from my search, so not sure this is the site for me.

Heroes of the Frontier sounds good to me. I've never read anything by Eggers but have several of his books on my TBR - need to give him a spin one of these days.

I have a couple of his books , but I started The Circle last year and didn't make it very far before I stopped reading. I may pick it up again.

I keep wanting to read something by Eggers, but he never rises to the top except with The Circle, which I put down pretty quickly, because I could see where it was heading and just wasn't in the mood.

What Is the What is the book I'm most likely to read by Eggers. This year, I made a list of 6 authors I was going to try for the first time this year: Kate Atkinson, Sarah Waters, David Mitchell, Orhan Pamuk, Paolo Bacigalupi, and Edwidge Danticat. I've read a book by the first three so far this year and plan to listen to a Bacigalupi this month. It's been a good plan, a new author every other month is pretty doable so I think I'll make Eggers one of the six for next year.

That is a good plan. I know there are authors whom I keep meaning to read and I even have their books, but for some reason I keep leaving them behind.

This list goes to show that I should never look at another list.

Absolutely. There should be an unwritten code that these lists can never exceed 10 books.

I ended up adding three to my TBR. :("
I seem to be able to reduce my TBR now that I use the State Library of Queensland EBOOK platform. I get 4 downloads at a time, so don't have any qualms at not persevering with recommendations, that turn out to be not to my taste. ie Life of Pi Yann Martel new The High Mountains of Portugal ..and several others.

I think I'll give Umami and The Gloaming a try.

I think I'll give Umami has been on my radar for a while. Shelter in Place could be good, but I'll wait for somebody else to read it first.

Top on the TBR: Nutshell by Ian Mc Ewan. I love the title one gentleman gave to his review "Hamlet in Utero.
Also on the TBR: The Wonder, A Gentleman in Moscow, Commonwealth, Swing Time

Nutshell is one I missed.. Thanks.
The one I have my eye on is Commonwealth. I plan to read Hidden Figures: The American Dream and the Untold Story of the Black Women Mathematicians Who Helped Win the Space Race as I preordered it and it is on my TBR.
I'm waiting on a few others to see how everyone likes them.

The Underground Railroad and The Association of Small Bombs were already on my TBR. The Paulette Jiles book looks promising but I remember being disappointed with her Enemy Women.

I read The Underground Railroad and The Association of Small Bombs and Imagine Me Gone are on my TBR.
I thought the Paulette Jiles sounded interesting, and I liked Enemy Women but I read it a good time ago when it would have been more to my taste.
The Throwback Special doesn't interest me and books which I have read like that I find sadly disappointing.

I vote for The Association of Small Bombs - would love some feedback.

I know what you mean, BnB. Aussie books don't get much promotion here. It will take a bit to peruse the list.

I still remember The Night Visitorand may well re-read it as well as order the above.

Fiction
Chris Bachelder, The Throwback Special
Garth Greenwell, What Belongs to You
Adam Haslett, Imagine Me Gone
Paulette Jiles, News of the World
Karan Mahajan, The Association of Small Bombs
Elizabeth McKenzie, The Portable Veblen
Lydia Millet, Sweet Lamb of Heaven
Brad Watson, Miss Jane
Colson Whitehead, The Underground Railroad
Jacqueline Woodson, Another Brooklyn
I really enjoyed The Portable Veblen but had a completely different take on it.. I did not find it hilarious, but extremely sad, which she laughed off, as a coping mechanism, and a wonderful resolution, resulted for all.

It's funny how I feel an immediate sense of relief when I glance at a list and see several titles already on my TBR. Of course, I now plan on reading the descriptions for the rest of the list and would bet the ranch that a few more titles will be creeping onto the TBR.

It's an overwhelming amount of information. It will be a good site to check weekly or twice a month and just look at the newest releases. Now to bookmark it and actually remember to keep checing. I tried searching for the titles on my "books to watch" shelf and wasn't finding grades/reviews for those books.
