Team Second to None
This is my first toppler. I'll probably be able to read 2 books. Unbearable Lightness: A Story of Loss and Gain
Gender Failure
Dear John, I Love Jane: Women Write About Leaving Men for Women
Hello fellow teammates! Thanks for setting up our thread, Delitealex!
I'll commit to at least 2 books, depending on how the week goes I might squeeze in another one. I picked up a bunch of options at the library today.
600 Hours of Edward
Little Bee
Hidden Girl: The True Story of a Modern-Day Child Slave
Unbearable Lightness: A Story of Loss and Gain
The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks
Been thinking about team names and the only one I could come up with so far was "Second to None".
Looking forward to another great toppler!
Hi team 2. I really like that name Lori, second to none.I'm not sure how many books I'll get through, but I plan to start with these:
Out of the Easy
Unsaid
All the Bright Places
The Memory Palace
I Am Malala: The Girl Who Stood Up for Education and Was Shot by the Taliban
The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks
Redeployment
Beyond Belief: My Secret Life Inside Scientology and My Harrowing Escape
'ello :)I'll probably read 5 to 7 books, but what they are I don't know yet. I tend to have a long list of possibilities and then wait until the toppler to see what mood I'm in.
I know for definite I'll be reading All the Bright Places because that's a botm read in another group. I also have a couple of challenges going on that might determine what I read once I know what the challenge is for that week.
Hello everyone! This is my second toppler, love the name!!
I plan to read Monkey Girl: Evolution, Education, Religion, and the Battle for America's Soul.
I would like to read more, but I am a slow reader, so I can comfortably commit to 1 for now.
Happy reading!!
I have found the audio for Undeniable: Evolution and the Science of Creation a book by Bill Nye that explains his belief of evolution over creationism.

Great name idea, Lori. Second to none : )I usually only commit to 2 or 3 books tho can often wind up reading 5-7 depending. I'm still gophering now. Will report back.
I'm leaning towards several books addressing Islam. Not something i would usually read about because it's such a sensitive and seemingly devisive topic and so i avoid going there. But it's sort of the "elephant in the living room" to me so here's a good chance to work on expanding my living room to comfortably co-exist with this huge issue.
Hi Team 2! I won't have time to put in my usual amount of reading, so I'll be aiming for 1-2 books. My first book will be Inequality: What Everyone Needs to Know.
Hello team!!! I have a couple books I will be reading for this, hoping they fit into my other challenges as well :-)
After finishing my first book,I'm also considering these as possibilities:Origins of the Specious: Myths and Misconceptions of the English Language
Longitude: The True Story of a Lone Genius Who Solved the Greatest Scientific Problem of His Time
The Last Policeman - the only novel, it appears to raise some deep questions about civilization and our choices under pressure
Delitealex wrote: "So what does everyone think of Second to none for our team name?"I'm happy with it ...... I'm rubbish at thinking up names so I can't offer any alternative.
I get the impression that no everyone has checked in yet. Someone needs to get on that and maybe message our missing members to alert them. Usually done by the captain ...... is anyone wanting to step up for that role?
I have done score keeper in the past and will do it again if needs be, but wanted to keep quiet to see if anyone else wanted to do it. Anyone?
I am fine with that name Delitealex. This is only my second toppler, never been the captain, but if no one else steps ups, I can do it. When does it officially start?
The dates for the Toppler are February 20th noon EST until February 27th noon EST.However as I said a bit of prep needs doing beforehand, double checking we have all our team.

I PM'd Anna, Connie, and Jamie
Love the team name. I will not be able to read my usual number of books this toppler, so I am going to commit to 2 books. I haven't selected them yet.
Yay everyone is here. I can be the captain if no one else wants it. So who wants to be score keeper?
I'm going to be travelling during the toppler week. My online access will be kind of spotty so no score keeping or captaining for me this round. But I've got three ebooks loaded on my tablet ready to go.
Delitealex wrote: "Yay everyone is here. I can be the captain if no one else wants it. So who wants to be score keeper?"Go for it Delitealex, no one else has offered so I think it should be yours.
As I said before, I usually end up the score keeper for my team when it comes to Topplers and I'll do it again if needed :)
But it might be nice if someone else did this time?
I'm going to have a busy week at work, so can only commit to reading my 1-2 books. I'm happy with Delitealex as captain and Lynn or anyone interested as score keeper.
I have a lot on my plate, and I am not very good with spreadsheets, so scorekeeping, probably not my thing!
Yay! Gang's all here. Lynn, I've never been scorekeeper, but I could give it a go. I'm not good with spreadsheets either, but I don't know if we even really need one for this toppler since there's no assigned tasks or anything. Anyway, I don't have a lot going on this week so if nobody else wants to do it and you want a break from doing it, I'll take it. :)
LOL, yeah I do love my spreadsheets hence why I probably end up being scorekeeper so much :)Go for it Lori. If scoring does turn out complicated and a spreadsheet would help then I can always step back in again.
I would definitely advise for you to start a new thread though for reporting, which is kept separate from this chat. That definitely helps :)
Awesome, we've got a name, a captain and a scorer, thank you Delitealex and Lori. Now we just have to wait till Saturday to get stuck into reading our books, I hate waiting.
I am excited about being a part of this fabulous group! I have a book downloaded on my iPad for next week, Nineteen Minutes, and plan to go to the library tomorrow to gopher for books.
Okay so I set up our reporting thread. Here's the link: https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...
Let me know if there's anything else I need to do but I think we're in pretty good shape.
On a personal note I got all my books from the library and I'm just waiting for Saturday.
I love the cheerleaders on our reporting thread. My books are all ready to go, I think I'm going to start with Out of the Easy by Ruta Sepetys. I'm really looking forward to it as I read Between Shades of Gray by the same author and loved that.

Great, thanks Lori :)
Delitealex, can you edit your first post so there's a link to the reporting thread there please?

Got it
Almost time for the toppler to start I found another book that I will probably start off with Read My Lips: Sexual Subversion and the End of Gender by Riki Anne Wilchins dealing with transgender issues.
I'm going to read Witches, a tale of Scandal, Sorcery and Seduction (religion) and Double Victory: How African American Women Broke Race and Gender Barriers to Help Win World War II (gender & race)
If it becomes available from the library in time, then as one of my books I plan to read $2.00 a Day: Living on Almost Nothing in America
I am delving into evolution vs. creationism. I have Undeniable: Evolution and the Science of Creation by Bill Nye to start with.
I would also like to read Monkey Girl: Evolution, Education, Religion, and the Battle for America's Soul, if it becomes available through my library. I am also looking for a book that deals solely with creationism.

Waiting anxiously for the toppler to begin! I'm going to start with Unbearable Lightness: A Story of Loss and Gain.
I am unable to get Monkey Girl :(
I have undeniable for audio, and History of the Conflict Between Religion and Science. This book deals with the Catholic church denying evolution.

It's almost Toppler Time! I'm finishing up some chores and then I'll be good to go. I'm going to start with 600 Hours of Edward.
Happy Reading Everyone!!
Sigh, I had a work meeting that started at noon. Now that I'm home I need to do some more work, then I plan to start my first toppler book.
