SOLVED. Children's Mystery Book with Golden Retriever?? [s]

I'm trying to remember a book I read when I was a kid. It was about the 2000's decade, can't totally remember. It had a picture of a golden retriever on the front and there was a red dog food bowl. All I can remember of the story is that there was a boy and a dog and I think the boy was trying to solve a mystery that was possibly about a volcano? I don't have the book anymore and it's driving me crazy trying to think of it. Google searches have proved fruitless, so I'm here for help!!!!
