Yeah, I think I'm at the "cave and buy it" stage. But chances are I'll enjoy it so it's worth it.

Sunshine (sunshine22222) | 935 comments Cadence by D.H. Sidebottom

Question: Is the last name of this author 4 letters apart?

Jane (PS) | 24361 comments Sunshine wrote: "Cadence by D.H. Sidebottom

No, sorry Sunshine - it would have to be D and S and they are way further apart than just 4 letters. The initial doesn't count. It has to be first and last name... (The initial H is the fifth letter with D as the first, so it wouldn't have worked anyway. My Kevin Hearne example was at the maximum length apart.)

Becky (fibrobabe) | 1574 comments If a book has two authors, do both authors have to fit, or can it qualify on just one? For example: Dead Ringer by Heidi Belleau and Sam Schooler.

message 61: by Jane (PS), Moderator (last edited Apr 09, 2016 12:46AM) (new)

Jane (PS) | 24361 comments Becky wrote: "If a book has two authors, do both authors have to fit, or can it qualify on just one? For example: Dead Ringer by Heidi Belleau and Sam Schooler."

One author is fine. So long as one fits the rule, it will qualify.

***edit***

You can't mix the authors to fit the letters. It must the same person's initials used to fit the rule. ie only Sam Schooler; not Heidi Schooler (not that this works for rule, but hopefully you get my gist!)

Ezi Chinny (ezinwanyi) | 2657 comments Does Listen to Me (Fusion, #1) by Kristen Proby Listen to Me by Kristen Proby count for 4 apart on the author's name? Or 5 apart?
Thanks

message 67: by Jane (PS), Moderator (new)

Jane (PS) | 24361 comments Hi Ezi - Kristen Proby? That's 6 letters apart so it won't work :(

You have to count the K as the first letter and the P would be the 6th letter.

Sorry - I haven't read that one...

Is it on the MMR list for books set in countries outside the US? If it is there it will work. Otherwise you'll have to read it and see if it fits.

~KarenH~ | 11383 comments Hey Jane, if a book is shelved as Historical-Regency is that sufficient to indicate that it's set in England, or should I look for a more specific shelf? I'm sure I can find something, I'm just being lazy!

message 80: by Jane (PS), Moderator (new)

Jane (PS) | 24361 comments I'll accept that since 'Regency' is regency England :) But not just shelved as historical...

message 81: by Jane (PS), Moderator (new)

Jane (PS) | 24361 comments Shelby wrote: "Jane - do fictional worlds count? Or futuristic - dystopian worlds?"

It still can't be obviously set in the US though... Needs to be a new world or future world that isn't a straight derivative of the US :)

message 82: by ~KarenH~, Moderator (new)

~KarenH~ | 11383 comments Ok, thanks! The Regency part was what I was asking about - I read too many western historicals to even consider just Historical being England! =P

Yes that's right. You can only change your book selection during the week the theme was called... Once the new theme is called, the book selection can't change.
