Yes, human trafficking , some argue, is more lucrative than drug trafficking. The source can be used over and over or sold for a much higher price (than the going price of drugs), if the person or child fits the criteria. Thank you for being willing to talk about this, many prefer ignorance to be their bliss, so I never push this epidemic on anyone not interested. But would LOVE to share and educate...

Actually, I've been around and participating for quite a while (pretty much since the group was launched), but I wasn't sure I'd posted in this thread (too busy to read all the many posts to see if mine was there).
Did want to take the opportunity to congratulate everyone involved on such a vibrant group.

Hi, Annie (Mistress). Glad to meet you. Your home page makes you look very interesting. Sounds like you should be able to pound out a great romance. Romance fans will probably love the two books you've already produced.
Love your shirt!

I have a bodyguard character named Tank! I love him! Are you cool too? lol
India R. wrote: "I have a bodyguard character named Tank! I love him! Are you cool too? lol ..."What I am is OLD. I don't think I'd intimidate anyone as a bodyguard. (Sheepish grin) But I hit what I aim at if I have to, since I'm too old to fight and too tired to run.
I'm reading a science fiction book that turned out to be a romance in disguise. The obligatory "hunk" is a disgraced prince and his body guard's name is "Muffin". In their language, Muffin doesn't mean the same thing as in ours, but when the POV character, an Earth girl who's hot for the hunk, explained what it means in English, they got a good laugh out of it -- including Muffin. It was a nice touch. The author is quite good.
"Tank" was my nickname in high school. A girl tagged me with it. Never was sure if it was complementary or a put-down (grin). I took it because she was cute and I was trying to date her (did go out -- once -- eventually).
Al "Tank" wrote: "Love your shirt! [and other nice stuff about me]"1. I totally missed your comment. Sorry!!
2. Thank you very much for the kind words!
3. Yeah, I dig that shirt...
*smiles wide*
Hugs,
Ann
P.S. - "Tank" is a compliment. 100%. I'd totally nickname a character that in a book. What say you? May I?

Go ahead. There used to be a cartoon character back in my day named "Tank" Macnamera (sp?). He was a football player. So I can't lay claim to the moniker exclusively.
I liked to think of a 'tank' as something with a Big Gun that keeps going, and going, and going. At least that's what I'd have told the girls back then if I'd thought of it. (evil grin)
Of course, you could always call the big, tough guy, "Tiny" (cliche'). Or "Gum Drop" (stealing from Muffin).

Hahahah... I love it! Muffin and you trying to please a cute girl. I have decided. You are as cool as my Tank. So, whether you are old or slow, you still got a sense of humor that rocks! We should start a "Tank" fan club, lol,

Nik wrote: "Was it Abrams or Armata, Al? -:)"Probably a Patton (old school). I don't think the Abrams had been produced yet. If it had been a foreign machine, my generation would have been more familiar with Panzers, Tigers, T-34's, etc.
Hi Everyone - I’m Em. I’ve been all over the board, career-wise, from painting to cartooning to newspaper writing to cookbooks, finally returning to my first love, humor writing. My current focus is American angst, so no shortage of inspiration there! This is a very interesting group and I look forward to participating!
Hi Em and welcome!Well done on diversity and everything goes here, especially cooking and humor-:)
We can try to add some international flavor into American angst and boost first love inspiration a little more -:)
Hope you'll enjoy and contribute!
Welcome Em!Nik wrote: "We can try to add some international flavor into American angst and boost first love inspiration a little more -:)"
Yes, angst is truly international in my experience!
My name's David Kummer, and I'm a self-published author. I'm a sophmore in high school, and try to make time for it between basketball, running, and general school. I make it, though. I'm hoping to marry my girlfriend (of more than a year) and make a living as an author as she works as a nurse. We'll see how it goes! Keeping my hopes up.

Hi David and welcome! To make a living from writing you'd probably have to add to basketball and running sports like marketing and sales, but I hope all works out as you plan!
Enjoy and contribute!
Yeah I know. I was thinking get a part-time job, go to college for marketing, etc. Anyways, thanks for the greeting :)
David wrote: "Yeah I know. I was thinking get a part-time job, go to college for marketing, etc. Anyways, thanks for the greeting :)"Welcome, David!
Which one is your most recent book?
I have a couple things published, but my most recent thing I would call a complete book is My Abigail: A Psychological Thriller
David wrote: "I have a couple things published, but my most recent thing I would call a complete book is My Abigail: A Psychological Thriller"cool. i added it to my long list. it's good that you added "Psychological Thriller" to the title; otherwise, "My Abigail" wouldn't say enough.
i think i'll start a thread of psych thrillers.
If you start that thread, Alex G, let me know so I can join! And hi everybody :) Thanks for the warm welcome.

HI:I'm Ron, a.k.a. "Grumpy" and "Allthunbs".
I'm retired, well sort of. This will be my 9th career. I've taken my years of work and turned it into a craft for myself. I'm currently working on a trilogy, tetralogy or pentalogy.
I'm going to observe for a bit to see if there's a 'fit'. I'm very cautious about data mines. I used them before there was an internet and I've seen them badly abused for all the right reasons by all the wrong people.
I am concerned about the power of the military-industrial complex and the lives they destroy in the name of "security". I'm also concerned about the effectiveness of our educational systems, worldwide. They're not teaching our children, they're collecting a paycheck at our children's expense.
How do we address these problems?
Ron
Oh, yes, there's one more problem. How does a man stay employed when all in power are interested in their greed, not the benefits that trade can bring? What formula will cause a man (woman) in China be gainfully employed and a man (woman) in North America, similarly employed?
Bye for now.
Hi Ron and welcome!9th career sounds mysterious-:). Best of luck with it!
I'm afraid we are not uncovering some well-concealed secrets or military programs, like wikileaks or snowden nor we focus specifically on Military Industrial complex, but we do discuss here trade, employment, education, greed, power, enrichment and in general - what needs improvement in our societies, tendencies and much more.
There are also many members pursuing similar career to your 9-th, so a lot is about writing, marketing, reading books and all.
Hope you'll enjoy and contribute!
Hello Everyone, My name is Eric, I am a horror author from Vermont. Currently, I have two books out there in the world. Darkness: Poems of Extreme Horror, and As The Blade Cuts which was recently released September 13th. I am working on writing my third and fourth book (yup at the same time).
Hi! Alex G. invited me (Thank you Alex!) and it sounds super interesting! I'm always looking to stay connected to world events a bit better, and joining groups is a great way to meet people too :) I have one book out, Nautical Miles, and another historical romance set in the 1800s in the American West, tentatively set to come out in the Spring of 2017.
I work as a freelance sewing instructor in between my full-time Mom job, and do a lot of traveling in our Subaru with the Mr., the Mini, and two dogs.
Happy to be part of the group!

Writing two books at tHE SAME TIME? I can hardly manage one, Eric. Let us know how that system works out for you! Kudos!

It's not something i ever thought i would do but it seems to be working. It's a slow process because I work full time and have to deal with everyday life (like most of us do). The advantage is when I'm stuck on one book, I move on to the other for a bit.
