Edwin | 1 comments Hey Everyone,

I'm Edwin and started my entrepreneurship career this year. Doing this for my family and have been getting into books to learn as much as I can while taking action. Currently trying to break into the real estate industry!

message 1717: by Nik (new)

message 1718: by Howard (new)

Howard Frisk (howardfrisk) This is Howard from the Seattle area, relatively new to GR and the author of two books: The Seven Wonders of Washington State, and Abandoned Washington State. The first book was self-published on KDP, and the second book was published by Arcadia Media as part of their series on abandoned places in the US. I am primarily a photographer and secondarily a writer. We'll see how that works out.

message 1719: by Nik (new)

Nik Krasno | 19850 comments Hi Howard and welcome!

Congrats on the books. Knowing how to capture a moment or a scene and immortalize them requires talent. If you have a photo or two, you'd like to share on group's gallery and give a glimpse at your work, please, feel free.
Otherwise, we are quite active on discussions, so feel free to barge right in on any thread.

Hope you'll enjoy and contribute from your knowledge and experience.

message 1720: by Howard (new)

Howard Frisk (howardfrisk) I just added some photos from the book.

message 1722: by Sasha (new)

Sasha Thanks for the invitation - I'm curious what made you choose to add me to your group, since my profile doesn't mention any of the group's titular three Ws.

I do physics research by day, but incidentally write speculative fiction in the remaining time. Consequently I am thinking about what the labor market and society will look like a few decades from now, considering AI's influence. Some of my research has been AI-adjacent, although I've moved away from that. But I do have some technical understanding of the field as a result.

My nuclear family is 50/50 Kiev and Moscow expats with plenty of family still there, so we've been affected by the war in different ways from both sides of it. I find it personally necessary to opt of out of political discussions to safeguard my mental health.

I do have a business education in addition to my science one, which informs the way I think about a speculative fictional future through the lens of economics.

message 1723: by Nik (new)

Nik Krasno | 19850 comments Hi Sasha and welcome!

I’m here to satisfy your curiosity 😉 Not much of a mystery - I simply invite every person I friend into the group, as that’s the place where I hang out and sometimes - over.
To guard your health - you might encounter lots of politics in “world” section, but equally much of labor, AI and biz related stuff in the “wealth” one. Feel comfy to have a look around.

Hope you’ll enjoy and contribute to the discussions

message 1724: by Sasha (new)

Sasha Thanks for the tour, Nik! Looking forward.

message 1725: by Jeffrey (new)

Jeffrey Bingham | 19 comments Hello, all. My name is Jeffrey Bingham. I am a lifelong addicted reader of many genres. No matter what the genre, my primary filter is looking for good writing. If I find a book I really like by an author unknown to me, I will Google them to find other books they have written. At that point, I will start reading them from their earliest work to their most recent. I am currently doing that with James McBride.

I have always loved the mystery, spy, thriller genre.. As of the current moment, I have been reading my way through the Charlie Pardker series by John Connolly and am sorry that I only have two more books to go. I particularly enjoy his adroit characterizations along with his mixture of a certain hard-boiled edge with the supernatural.

I am new to Good Thrillers and am looking forward to book discussions, recommendations, and discoveries.

message 1726: by Nik (new)

Nik Krasno | 19850 comments Hi Jeffrey and welcome!

Good thrillers is another group, yet it doesn’t affect our wholehearted hospitality.

Feel free to participate in conversations.
Hope you’ll enjoy and contribute

Hope you are here for more than just advertising your services.

message 1728: by Lyanna (new)

Lyanna Douglas | 1 comments Hello!
I'm Lyanna Douglas, an author, editor and uni professor.
My background was in anthropology and other other non-fiction, but I made the switch to fiction about 15 years ago.
I've been pulled back into non-fiction lately due to the events of Feb. 24, 2022 (thank you for the Ukrainian flag on the group's banner, by the way!).
I now work with several NGOs, writing and editing. I also run a group called BookFellas that promotes Ukrainian literature (and books banned in the U.S.) by giving away books. It's sort of like Book Fairies, if you've ever heard of that.
Nice to meet everyone!

message 1729: by Nik (new)

Nik Krasno | 19850 comments Hi Lyanna and welcome!

Sounds like you've got an eventful lifepath hitherto :)
Your current activity is important too.
Yes, brutal russian invasion shocked many. It so happens that both countries that especially matter to me: Ukraine (born) and Israel (live) are engaged in existential wars and therefore I fly their flags on my balcony.
But you'll notice that not all members share my bi-patriotism and we have a sceptic faction too :)
Anyways, I hope you'll enjoy and contribute to the discussions

message 1733: by Stephani (new)

Stephani | 1 comments Hi! I'm Stephani, I've joined the group and I look forward to interacting or just being a wallflower for all of the interesting topics. I studied political science in college and enjoy the continued examination of politics and the study of all it's aspects. I'm also very curious and interested in writing improvement.

message 1734: by Nik (new)

Nik Krasno | 19850 comments Hi Stephani and welcome!
Interacting is preferable over the wallflower, if you ask me :)
With politics and writing you cover 2 of our three major pillars. If it hadn’t yet, maybe wealth/biz will be added 🔜.

Meanwhile, I hope you’ll enjoy and participate in the discussions and debates

message 1735: by Bjørn Helge (new)

Bjørn Helge Kristiansen (bhkristiansen) Hi there, my name is Bjorn H Kristiansen and i'm from Norway. Joined this group based on the rather interesting topics and found a level of insight that was interesting.. so I thought I might introduce myself in this topic. Wallflower or participant..? not sure yet but most likely the latter.

Working in IT as programmer/technician but secretly writing ..quite naturally (to me at least).. sci-fi novels. :D Never done it before so we'll see how that goes. Enjoy sci-fi in most medias, be it books, movies or tv-series. Also have a bit of interest in politics which this group also seem to focus on. So, exciting times ahead!

message 1736: by Nik (new)

Nik Krasno | 19850 comments Hi Bjorn & welcome!

Vikings are underrepresented in the group, so with your participation we could rectify this historic injustice :)
Well done on your literary undercover endeavor. Hope it’ll culminate into a full scale novel/series.
Meanwhile, feel free to contribute to the discussions from your angle and enjoy your membership

Jack Silver | 13 comments Greetings,

My name's Jack Silver. I'm from the US and I joined this group to be able to learn new perspectives about various topics. I'm new to this app so there's some things that I'm not acquainted with yet but I'm all for this.

I grew up like the majority of people, very few opportunities, a difficult family, financial difficulties but change my life with the help of books and education.

Right now I work as an independent financial advisor and also consider myself a crypto enthusiast. I'm really grateful for the life I live so I always look forward to help people in the best way possible!

Thanks for having me!

message 1742: by Nik (new)

Nik Krasno | 19850 comments A pleasure to formally welcome you again, Jack!
Glad you are happy with your life and achievements and willing to pay it forward.
Hope you’ll enjoy, contribute and derive something useful from the group.

Vladimir Stefan | 1 comments Good afternoon group from rainy UK! My name is Vladimir, I'm born Romanian but have lived on the shores of Britain for the last 11 years. In the last year I turned author too with my debut novel "What to Eat During the Apocalypse" out in 6 weeks. WTEDTA is a dystopian comedy addressing themes of politics (power and authority), inequality and struggles all through the filter of humour and satire. I believe it is a book that this group will find a lot of relatable themes in, so I wanted to join, say hello and spread the word. Thank you.

message 1746: by Nik (new)

Nik Krasno | 19850 comments Hi Vladimir and welcome!

Congrats on the upcoming release and good luck with the debut! Indeed, themes that you mention fit right into our daily discussions. If you can contribute, more so with a pinch 🤏 of humor, it’d be invaluable.
Hope you’ll enjoy our company 🤝
