Marie | 643 comments I thought I had posted in here and I have realized I forgot to come on this thread after I joined. I joined because Graeme invited me about five or six months ago. Sorry that I didn't post an introduction.

With that being said: My name is Marie and I live in Florida (USA). I like to discuss other things besides books. I am not an author, but I am a big reader! lol :)

message 1052: by Nik (new)

Nik Krasno | 19850 comments Hi Marie and welcome!

With indie revolution on the one hand and gadgets, films and other distractions substituting reading for some people on the other, nowadays I wouldn't insist that writers are rarer than big readers -:). We, in our turn, gladly accept both!
Books, of course, but more than these we have lots of other subjects - some serious, some not so much. Hope you'll enjoy and contribute

Thank you for letting me be in your group. :) I have already been making my way around on the threads. :)

That's awesome! Does Howard get some kind of a prize? Or is that the 10,000th member?

J. Gowin | 7977 comments Hello,

I'm J. and I was invited to join by Graeme. I have all of the writing chops of a disgruntled high school english teacher but none of the grammatical skill. I apologize in advance for the commas, run-on sentences and dangling participles.

message 1063: by Nik (new)

Nik Krasno | 19850 comments Hi J. & welcome!

We have very few Mr, Ms or Mrs Impeccable here, so just accept members as they are.
Hope you, in your turn, won't give us very low grades too and will otherwise enjoy and contribute -:)

Janice Lombardo (jelombardo) | 3 comments Hi, retired, now from teaching and the medical field. LOVE to read and help out others. TY for the welcome!

Nik Krasno | 19850 comments Hi Janice, glad to have you here!

Hope our occasional debates won't spoil a tranquil retirement for you and you'll enjoy and contribute -:)
And thanks for your willingness to help. Noticed you'd already picked up a book of one of the authors here.

Blue Moon-Shepherd (wordrocker) | 1 comments Hi everyone-

My name is Blue and I currently reside in the Southeast of the US. I’m a Wisdom Elder (don’t do ‘old’ - too much debilitating energy attached to the word, so I’m seeking to change the lexicon) and took two degrees in 2015: Language and Culture, Spanish (focus is Inequality in the Global South, primarily, and the history thereof); Political Science; and a minor in Russian. I’ve traveled a bit, lived in Europe, and love the Beautiful Game.
Im currently writing a book of Essays, and I write in all my languages. I’m looking forward to interacting with what appears to be quite a vibrant and interesting group of folks.
Cheers.

Nice to have a new and interesting person here. Looking forward to seeing you around.

Hi, I'm Cinda from Canada. I joined this group because of the international focus. At home, people talk about traffic, real estate, and oil and gas pipelines. Oh, and the winter weather too, of course. That talk gets boring fast, so I'd like to know what's going on in other places.

message 1074: by Nik (new)

Nik Krasno | 19850 comments Hi Cinda & Welcome!

You'll surely hear the voice of 'other places' here and maybe even a bit of US-Canadian friendly teasing -:)
Hope you'll enjoy & contribute your local perspective.

message 1075: by Leonie (new)

Leonie (leonierogers) | 1579 comments Hi Cinda!

It's summer where I am. We can talk about how hot it's been, and how envious we are of cool weather 🤣

message 1076: by RuinEleint (new)

RuinEleint Hi!

I am Arka from India. Graeme invited me ages back and since then I have lurked and read the various interesting discussions. My primary subject of interest is history in which I have some academic knowledge though my primary recreational reading interests are fantasy and science fiction. I also love listening to music, specifically rock and metal. The diverse array of topics here are all really interesting to me.

message 1077: by Nik (new)

Nik Krasno | 19850 comments Hi Arka & Welcome,

Glad you've decided to come out of the shadows and make your presence known. We don't bite! With your historic bend I assume you might be able to contribute a lot on different issues and offer your local perspective from India.
I guess our music corner is a bit underdeveloped. Rock & metal sound good. I probably would sound as a dinosaur remembering bands like Skid Row & Motley Crue, although I do listen every once in a while to a bit more modern Rammstein and Therapy?
Anyhow, hope you'll enjoy & contribute

Àngela (angelamorales) | 1 comments Good evening everyone! My name is Àngela and I write as a hobby. I am new to the group but it seems such an interesting place.

I moderate a Whatsapp group for writers, which might be an extra tool to get inspiration if we all contribute.

If you are interested on being a part of it just send me a message and I will add you.

Have a nice evening!

I have a couple or so more memory lane bands for you, Nik. Poison, Def Leppard, Guns and Roses, Ratt, White Lion, Europe, etc. Though like you, I don't listen to them like I use to, but I do have their cd's sitting in my car. :)

message 1082: by Nik (new)

Nik Krasno | 19850 comments Cool!
... And also to discover, I'm not the only one still having a stack of cd's -:)

I haven't even attempted to go digital! lol I love my cd's and I have over 300 of them. Maybe that is considered a collection too? :)

message 1084: by Nik (new)

Nik Krasno | 19850 comments Maybe not like vinyls yet, but going the same direction -:)

message 1085: by Mark (new)

Mark André Hi, I'm Mark. Don't know how I got here. I joined because I wanted to post on the thread about new authors and now I can't find the thread. I was going to mention reading José Saramago's novel Seeing. It's my first of his books and it is the first 21st century novel I've ever tried. It's kickin! - )

message 1086: by Nik (new)

Nik Krasno | 19850 comments Hi Mark & welcome!

As long as you are here, "how" is not important-:)

Hope you'll enjoy, as much as you've started to contribute

message 1087: by Mark (new)

Mark André Thank you, Nik, for your friendly welcome. I hope I can have fun too!

Nik Krasno | 19850 comments Hi Ella & welcome!

Congrats on moving to Bulgaria and publishing the first. Best of luck with it! I guess you are a living proof that the sales pitch of Bulgarian developers and agents that Brits come and buy properties there is not entirely hollow -:)
Looking forward to you participation.
Hope you'll enjoy & contribute

message 1089: by Graeme (new)

Graeme Rodaughan Hi Ella, welcome to the group and good luck with your book.

Nik Krasno | 19850 comments Cool, glad to hear. Been to Sofia many years ago and know people owning properties there and spending a big chunk of their summers. Are you in the beach area or elsewhere?

message 1092: by Nik (new)

Nik Krasno | 19850 comments Sounds nice! Any expats around or only locals?

message 1093: by Nik (new)

Nik Krasno | 19850 comments I'm sure you'll master it in the end. Socializing with the locals is probably the best means to get there

Michael McLellan He's baaackk....
Hi folks. I guess I missed you. Probably will be doing more listening than posting but I'm here.

message 1098: by Nik (new)

Nik Krasno | 19850 comments Hi Michael & welcome back!

Now that you've returned we won't make do with having you just as a listener, so be prepared to voice your opinion on every subject-:)

Seriously though, and that goes to all the lurking members - pls feel free to barge in on any ongoing thread or set up new ones!

message 1099: by Michael (new)

Michael McLellan Ha ha! Thanks, Nik. You know I'll pipe in my two cents. Hope all is well.
