Hi everyone, I'm Graeme Rodaughan from Melbourne, Australia.

I've already forgotten my life before joining Wealth, Writing, World - like it was a bad dream that I have fortunately woken up from.

I have a driving ambition to be the best writer of suspenseful, thrilling, action orientated vampire novels that I can be.

I'm lucky to be married to the strongest, most interesting and feistiest woman that I have ever met.

I'm lucky to have a very good job that I enjoy that pays the bills so that I can focus on writing in my spare time.

I'm a pessimist about how much humans can know, and I don't believe in much at all.

I'm a stand for human dignity and I enjoy empowering those around me because I prefer the company of those who are awake to their own power over those who are blind to it.

In what I experience as an utterly meaningless universe I enjoy creating meaning in my life through committed relationships that embody honesty, trust and love.

I value courage, intelligence, compassion, independence, ingenuity, liberty, empowerment, and human dignity.

I base my own moral perspective on the pillers of informed consent, and compassion through empowerment.

I found the concept of god irrelevant to me at the age of 7 and haven't believed since.

I don't assume that I'm right.

There are things in this world that are of great, sublime, awesome beauty and there are things in this world that are of great, sublime, awesome horror.

I hope to reflect both polarities within my stories, and leave it up to whatever audience I attract to judge the value of what I do for themselves.

I always recommend starting with Light Fantastic. It sets the stage. However Guards Guards works as well, as does Good Omens with Neil Gaiman.

Welcome! You can always chime in on the writing and publishing side of things. Although we do cater to the whole person and don't strictly adhere to the themes of the group, as can be seen by the more than occasional thread outside of social norms; for example, the cultural mediation of underarm hair. ;)

We are actually two authors, husband and wife. The pen-name Codex Regius we chose because no one would pronounce the combination of our surnames correctly if they were printed on the covers. So far, we have published about 30 books in two languages: Some fiction (SF and a six-volume series of historical novels) but mostly academic - on the works of Tolkien and Asimov, on history and, lately, on recent NASA missions to Pluto and (forthcoming) Saturn's largest moon Titan. Yes, we are. I am also running a site named Lalaith's Middle-earth Science Pages that has some notoriety in the fandom (lalaithmesp.blogspot.de) . And, mind you, two of our books on Tolkien have been favourably reviewed by no one less than Orson Scott Card (he who wrote "Ender's Game"). Can you imagine the Wow factor when I noticed that?

And Marie, you should totally try filming a short to see if you like it! Writing-wise, I found it difficult going the opposite direction--my first passes at novel scenes read more like dialogue with stage directions, but since you're already used to writing everything as a coherent whole you might find it easier. The hard part is getting everything else (actors/equipment/weather) to cooperate! ;)

Hi:

I'm Ron and I'm trying to figure out how all of this works. I tried posting a comment earlier and it seems to have disappeared. I'm an author trying to find out if my work is actually worth publishing but keep getting responses for paid beta readers.

I'm retired if you can call home renovations and author, retired. Suffice to say that I'm on my 9th and 10th careers.

I live in French Canada and have traveled the breadth of this country from east to west. I've not had occasion to go north of the tundra line. There are parts of this country that are beautiful and others that are impressive. Looking out over the Atlantic from the shores of Nova Scotia and you see the expanse of the earth. Dawn on the prairies and to experience the curvature of the earth is humbling as are the majesty of the Rocky Mountains and the ruggedness of Central Canada's Canadian Shield.

Niagara Falls is the epitome of perfection but is no reflection on life here. Just down the road in St. Catherine's, you'll find one of the most confusing cities you could imagine. The city blocks are not square. There is a part of the city where city blocks are diamond shaped. Pull up to an intersection and you don't know which way to turn. It is said that the town designer got drunk and followed a cow and laid out the city accordingly.

The strength of this country are its people. We are a microcosm of the world. Indeed there are places here where banned languages flourish and centuries old traditions thrive along side bleading-edge technologies. We are conservative in our world policies and liberal in our philosophies. We look to each person to bring their traditions, knowledge and experiences to the table. We combine these benefits to create "a Canadian".

I am a human first and a Canadian second.

I'm currently trying to answer the question "how can a man (or woman) remain gainfully employed when those in power seek only to enhance their own wealth to the detriment of their own constituents? Somehow free world trade must benefit the common man or there will be only anarchy."

Thank you for your time and your patience. My ranting serves little purpose but to appease my own insecurities but it suffices.

Because art has never been about money for me--that's what my day job is for! ;)

Like I said, there were way too many outside variables in filmmaking. I wanted to get much closer to the heart of my themes without relying on the talent of actors, availability of locations, or quality of equipment. It was so freeing to work in a medium that rested on my words alone, so I could take my time and say exactly what I wanted to say!

I was having a little deja vu, but then I found your previous intro from Sept 19 -:)

I think you've written a great dithyramb to Canada!
Many of us are concerned with earnings and well-being. The problem as I see it, that self-regulation/restraint is not in human nature that much. The greatest empires of the past fell, because emperors', blinded by might and glory, hadn't paid attention to adverse tendencies.
The contemporary cash emperors might be equally oblivious to what happens beneath, therefore we (the majority, this amorphous mass of people, whom democracy - the ruling of the people, is declared to serve) might need to remind those above where and how to steer the economic (and not only) ship -:)
Not sure we can count on somebody else even, as professors in economic studies (zero prediction of crisis, little to no success in overcoming its aftermath) on a macro-level know hardly more than laymen-:(

Thanks to the writers who've made me welcome. Tis much appreciated. Not sure of the rules but one topic I've noticed of late is the very low rates of pay offered to freelance writers. We all know about workers in third world countries making clothing, footwear, etc for a tiny fee only to have the goods sell in wealthy countries for a massive markup. The same applies with freelance writing sites. Writers in poor countries might be grateful but some employers appear to exploit workers. But there is no governing body, no law which states that a writer should receive a minimum fee. But then book creators are often in the same boat. Perhaps it has always been thus.
