Isabel I agree with what saddichya posted. I would like to add on that in our book, the author brings up past events that were described in the beginning of the book. For example, when he talks about Miriam, he mentions Jalil and Tariq and intertwines these past characters into the present. The author also mentions past feelings. For example, mr. Hosenini writes about how when Rasheed gets mad at Miriam, she explains that her feelings of being afraid are still there. This connects to our lives because many times, we have events in our life that bring up past events, emotions, and feelings. They can be positive or negative. In Miriam's case, these emotions are negative. In our book, the author uses flashbacks to intertwine the emotions. He describes those hard times and calls to mind those harsh days and years.
