Eldarwen | 5004 comments Countdown to April

Beware that the starting time for books to count for April may have slightly changed due to daylight savings.

Yeah, I did buy this book, because you all are such big fans of it... wanted to see (read) what is so great about it.... heheheee. We´ll see if I join the club ;)

Perfect! Then we can move "Misfits" to Paprika :-D
And that then leaves us with either Chamomile/Camomile or Spinach!

One word left!!
Can we find that before the month is up? :-)

But I'll go through all the word messages again when I'm home (in about 2-3 hours I'll have the time) and see what we can potentially switch around.

I just looked at my next book that I will be reading and it has Chamomile.

It's a local one and we tend to read contemporary novels from across various genres. The Christmas read does tend to be more of a lighter read. I like that I am exposed to novels I'd otherwise overlook :)

I'd say it's blue enough since it has many shades of blue, but maube ask Karen just in case?=)

I finished A Court of Thorns and Roses (LOVED IT), but didn't find any missing words for the mini challenge.

message 462: by Elinaly (new)

Elinaly In other challenges we have sometimes used this tool: Image Color Extract Using PHP to figure out the % of certain colour.
Maybe it could be handy.

It showed me black 39,1% and white 2,5% and all the rest shades of blue. So it's a close case :)

You have to upload image there to see the colours percentage.

So no more words needed for March?

message 463: by Silje (new)

Silje (sikna) | 908 comments Thanks for the tip, Elinaly!=)

The only word left is Chamomile, but I think Danielle is already working on that one.

message 465: by Eldarwen (new)

Eldarwen | 5004 comments Blue it is for the cover! :-)
I'll update the spreadsheet accordingly.

I'm not quite sure yet what I'm going to read next month, as it mainly depends on the challenges. The Bingo shelf calls and the various weekly tasks etc make it hard to really plan ;-)
I really want to read Twice Tempted (Night Prince, #2) by Jeaniene Frost though as well as Magic Shifts (Kate Daniels, #8) by Ilona Andrews !

message 466: by Elinaly (new)

Elinaly Sorry for repeating this over and over again (I just can't really believe it) LOL,

Denise (kitsune816) | 516 comments Hi there, Team Peanuts! Denise from Team Spongebob with our team's connection to one of your memories. :)

♥ I can't remember a time when I wasn't reading. When I was younger (many moons ago), relatives always got together and decided who was buying what book for birthdays and Christmas.

I can remember when I was about 8 or 9 being given a set of five hardback books of classics and reading them so much that they fell apart. They had read covers with black spines and the author and title written in gold.

I used to use my brother and sister's tickets for the library so that I could have 9 books instead of 3. I was at the library so often that the librarians used to keep books to one side for me and I was on first name terms with most of them. I am now a librarian and my TBR list just keeps getting longer and longer. Now that I have an ereader as well I can read all over and always have a book to hand. My work library ticket has over 40 books issued to it and my ereader has over 1500 books on it.

My favourite book of all time has to be Jane Eyre, I have read it so many times and am on my 6th copy as the book always falls apart from being read so many times.

Book read: Over Sea, Under Stone
Date read: 3/30/16
Connection: I received this series as a set when I was young, and read them until they all fell apart. I think I'm currently on my fourth set, hehe. :)

message 478: by Elinaly (new)

Elinaly So if I understand it correctly when I started a book in March, but will finish it on 1st April it counts for April cards?
If so I will hold my horses ;)
(because if I finish it today, on 31st March, its no use at all, right?)

message 479: by Eldarwen (new)

Eldarwen | 5004 comments That's correct, yes.
But take into consideration the time difference. The challenge runs on Australia time, so that is later in the morning for us Europeans.

The countdown is linked at the top of this page.

message 480: by Elinaly (new)

Elinaly yep, thanks! I learned it (time difference) already when the first round started ;)

message 481: by Elinaly (new)

Elinaly I´m having super quiet work-day, so planning here my April reads and...

I could cover 3RED card with:
Wool Omnibus (Silo, #1) (Wool, #1-5) by Hugh Howey by Hugh Howey
H - author name.

Of course the question is again is the cover red enough.
My secret tool shows that its 56,51% red, but you have the honor to say the final word, hehehee.
wool

message 482: by Eldarwen (new)

Eldarwen | 5004 comments I'd say red enough. It was the first colour that came to mind when I looked at the cover.

I'm having a little more of a stressful day at work, or at least this morning was. A tiny bit of downtime at the moment, but I'm not sure that'll stay for the rest of the afternoon... My boss is going on holiday (that is, he's going away for a long weekend) and he's stressing as though he's going to be away for two weeks instead of two work days... ;-)

message 483: by Eldarwen (new)

Eldarwen | 5004 comments Silje, what do you think of the cover? Would you consider it red enough?

message 484: by Silje (new)

Silje (sikna) | 908 comments I'd say it's red enough yes=) I'm finally back at work after two sickdays and I just wish I'd been sick longer....sigh...(I have to do the work for three people the next week so no fun at work..)

message 485: by Eldarwen (new)

Eldarwen | 5004 comments Oh that sounds like sooo much fun :-/
Next week the whiner is back at work. I've already been warned by one of the people she works for that she got tons of little e-mails so she'll be complaining and whining all morning :-p Ah I'm so looking forward to that.. ;-) It was so quiet without her, so relaxing!

But yay, good on the book! I'll get that added. As well as Beyond the Highland Mist (Highlander, #1) by Karen Marie Moning because I won't manage to finish that tonight. I had no time for reading at work today, so I couldn't rush through it the way I hoped I could.

message 486: by Eldarwen (new)

Eldarwen | 5004 comments And while I was at it, I also threw in Darkhouse (Experiment in Terror, #1) by Karina Halle , which fit for a Draw 2 card.

And with the books you ladies have already mentioned, we only have one Draw 2 card left to fill (in Hand Eight). Nicely done!

Elinaly Completion Post

Minu Dublin. Seitse kodu ja kolm bensiinijaama (Minu..., # 45) by Kristiina Piip by Kristiina Piip
Read date: 1. Apr 2016
Rating: 2 stars
How it fits: "5" (set in Ireland); "skip" (authors first and last name). I can also name characters if needed, there are many of them

I read this book, because I'm traveling to Ireland in May. The book belongs to a series written by Estonians (not writers) who live abroad and share their experiences.
I have this silly habit to read a book from this series before travelling somewhere. So I would know more about how the locals see the life there.
But I don't know... I didn't really enjoy this book. Author's humor spiced things up a bit, but... well... still gave it 2 stars!

I will still go to Ireland -> Dublin though, lol.
