Ok. I still have time to get those books sorted then. I haven't really done any checking that they are all there but it seems on Goodreads you can't actually delete any? Which is annoying.
Also, it doesn't even look like a shelf, more like a wallpaper.

Are you trying to delete shelves or books? I am in the process of putting all of my books on shelves that make sense and deleting the tags that turned into shelves here on Goodreads. If you want to delete a shelf click on "edit shelves", move the books wherever you want, then click the "x" on the left and the shelf will go away. I started with 10 pages of shelves and I'm down to 5. It's tedious. I miss Shelfari already!

But...I wonder how many friends others have on here and whether your friends are the types that are into books as it seems many of my friends aren't. I send them an invite and they just ignore it.
Even the ones who I think are into books and do book clubs etc don't bother.
The friends that I do have on here most of them haven't been on it for years lol.

It's still MIA but I'm sure I will find it in a drawer or cupboard somewhere. I shouldn't wander and read at the same time but nothing else would ever get done if I didn't. In the meantime, another mystery - maybe it will help me solve the puzzle of the missing book!

Or books fallen underneath the bed. Make sure you dust them first before returning to the library.
when I worked in the university library, a trick would be for uni students needing that particular textbook and nobody else to have it is to shelve it someplace else, where only you knew the location. Then it would be marked as missing, but not to you, and then you could have it to yourself all semester.

When I worked at a department store sales girls would do this with clothes they wanted so no one would buy them before they could.

I have a couple of friends who read as much as I do but they never keep track on-line. I got about 10 of them to join Shelfari never to be heard from again. I have a couple of friends here on Goodreads that update regularly but we have pretty opposite tastes in most books. My book club ladies don't use Goodreads either.
The same as you Selina, I invited real life friends to Shelfari but they only came a few times and then nothing. When I joined Goodreads I had some Facebook friends that at some time I must have accepted an invite. If they werent active or we had no books in common I deleted them.
I am grateful for the on line community as I have no one with similar taste in books to me in real life. My librarian friend says she can tell when a book comes in for me without looking. Apparently I am the only one in our whole town who likes nonfiction. I have a friend who wants me to read sci-fi so we can discuss books. No thanks. When I suggest a bio to her she isnt interested so I feel no obligation to read sci-fi.

I can read a lot of different genres but sci-fi and I don't mix. Not that I haven't read a few but they don't keep me coming back.

Others joined but then didn't keep up, only the sci-fi guy updated regularly.

Wow, that's easier than what I've been doing. The only way I've found up to now is to go to your review -- even if you don't have one yet -- and at the bottom of that page click on "remove from my books."

This is so, so, so not as user friendly as Shelfari. If only one could survive why did it have to be this one?
I am now down to three pages of shelves in my quest to get rid of all the tags that were turned into shelves.

As of today, the search function has disappeared from Shelfari.

It doesn't seem as if there was much consistency in how things transferred from Shelfari. Every single tag I had ever marked came over as a shelf. It has taken hours to fix it. I'm down to one page of shelves now and hopeful to have everything semi organized again. Several books never made it, most of my ratings didn't make it and even more of the reviews went missing. What I really miss is being able to sort by "most recent" here. I didn't realize how often I used that. I think if Shelfari had been the first to make a deal with Facebook they would have survived instead of Goodreads but, it's all water under the bridge now.

What tee's me off the most is that Goodreads does not seem receptive to changing anything. If someone posts in the group (forget what its called) where they ask for suggestions for changes they pretty much get shot down and told this isnt Shelfari. Some merger.

So my shelves are in random order with no rhyme or reason to them.
I liked that in shelfari, they had the word cloud so the most popular tags were bigger than the rest and you could go straight to them, I don't care exactly what number of books were in that category.
arrgh.

First ... are you on your phone, a tablet, or a PC? That may make a difference (don't ask me how ... I've just seen this advice posted in numerous places).
Go to MY BOOKS
On the right, under your avatar you'll see two symbols - one looks like three heavy lines one atop the other (sometimes referred to by GR members as "the hamburger"). Click THAT symbol and you'll get a TABLE view
You should now have column headings:
Cover - Title - Author - Avg Rating - Rating - Shelves - (etc)
Click on the COLUMN HEADING you want to sort by. I have mine sorted by DATE READ (with the arrow pointing DOWN, so the newest book is listed first).
On the LEFT side of this page (whether in COVER view or TABLE view) you'll see a list of all your Bookshelves (a/k/a "tags"). At the top of this list are the "exclusive" shelves. You can click ALL (which is my default) or just click TO-READ if you only want to check your tbr.
Hope that helps.

anyway. Maybe sort it out later but I have managed to delete a duplicate book and hurrah move all the tbr books to the read category.

I am learning as I go along. I joined Shelfari when it was new and not so complicated and I know as they added more things it got more complicated for beginners. It was easier to learn as they added new things. Now this seems overwhelming to learn it all at once. This too shall pass.

Today I went to a vendor fair. If you dont know what they are, its an expo where people that are self-employed such as Tupperware, Scentsy, etc. sell their stuff. Somebody was there selling homemade soaps and lotions. I told them they should have book-scented soap. Old, musty book smell would be even better. They thought I was crazy. I'll bet my friends here will identify.

I'd pay serious money for old-book soap.

But yes, someone thought of it. I think she got it from Paris.

I googled on Amazon and they do have old book old book smell candles. No soap. I dont light candles very often because of the cats.

I've been off line for two days. My son fixed the issue. Now I have a new router. Hopefully no more problems. It will take a while to get caught up with all of my groups here. Wow! We never know how addicted we are to something until we dont have it.

So proud of my babies!
I have bad news. My nephew (husband's sister child) 31 years old with 4 kids and recently separated from his wife, committed suicide. The funeral is tomorrow and it is 3 hour drive so I will not be on line until late if at all. Sad.

Oh, Koren ... how tragic. My prayers are with you and your extended family. My uncle committed suicide (decades ago), and I know that it is possible for a family to recover from the shock and loss. But it will take time.

Thankyou BC.
Thankyou BC.

I'm really not that shocked. The site was started by two people, and one of them left at the beginning of 2016, I believe. Jacquie just couldn't handle all that the site needed to provide to users by herself. It was a "hobby" more than a job, and it's too bad it is closing, but I'm not really surprised.

So Sorry!

We just got everything set up over there and now they are closing but glad to see a Bio/Memoir group here!

I dont think anyone here is an author Yolanda so we probably cant help you. If you're book is not a true memoir than I dont think this is the place to start advertising.
