Okay, I had to look that one up that genre to see if it really existed. Here it is on listopia:
https://www.goodreads.com/list/show/7...

I won't be reading any of those books .....

Janice (jamasc) | 59889 comments I won't be reading any of those either Lisa Ann.

This title is a whopper - I Don't Care If My Best Friend's Mom is a Sasquatch, She's Hot and I'm Taking a Shower With Her!

Delitealex | 336 comments Oh my no monster porn for me either.

message 54: by Bella (new)

Bella | 502 comments You know, when my mother and aunt used to buy me comic books when I was a kid, they always used to say that there's no such thing as a bad book and no book you should be ashamed of reading. "Any reading is good," my aunt, the librarian would say. But if I read enough monster porn to be able to make an informed decision on the "Best Monster Porn", they would both be deeply ashamed of me.

I'm guilty of reading phones books especially when on vacation or living in a new area, lol.

Lisa (ylisa7) | 208 comments Ha, ha…monster porn…now that is a new one. I'll pass on that.

message 57: by Caecilia (new)

Caecilia Saori .. monster porn. first time I hear this term. hehe
all shades-of-grey ish books are a no go for me. I'm even picky with ya fiction :-)

message 58: by [deleted user] (new)

I usually don't enjoy horror, poetry or overly religious fiction. And although I love romance or books with some romance in them, I'm never in my life going to read a monster porn...

message 59: by Kristie, Moderator (new)

Kristie | 19139 comments Oh gosh...I hadn't even thought of monster porn. I have a GR friend that reads that stuff. The first time I saw it she was reading The Haunted Vagina. I couldn't even believe it was a real book. I laughed so hard reading the summary that I had tears and had to read it to my husband.

Welcome to our group, Sophia!

Thanks! But you will probably not see all that much of me in the future, I usually prefer to simply read the discussions rather than giving my own input to them :)

Cherie (crobins0) | 21536 comments Like Tejas Janet wrote, I will read the cereal box if that is the only thing I have in front of me. I am willing to try anything once, so I do not have a specific genre to say is a no go, although there are some I have to go a long way to agree to pick up. I do not like hard core horror, but I have read some. I always thought I would not like romance, but I have been pleasantly surprised. I like westerns, but do not seem to pick up many these days. I do not especially enjoy war themed books, but I will read them because I think it is important to. Politics, hmmm and self- help books are probably rock bottom on the list.

edited after I looked at the comments above:
oh good grief! NO monster-porn. oh, that is awful! my eyes!

Sarah | 18550 comments Thanks for the laugh Kristie. I read the synopsis and immediately had to read it to my partner too. Who writes this stuff? And worse, who reads it?!

You know when there sometimes is a task in a challenge to read a book you're embarrassed to read in public? Well, I'm sure I would have no trouble finding such a book on that listopia list.

Lol! I think that is one book that will not be making it onto my TBR list!

Well, this is a change, as usually I too end up adding books to my TBR list based on our discussions.

Lisa (lisathebooklover) | 9244 comments This is slightly off topic but this discussion has just reminded me of a book I came across in a shop the other day whose title I misread. It's called Deadly Election but I thought it said 'Deadly Erection'! And then I realised my mistake! Lol!

Booked | 4 comments So it *is* real! lol, thanks for sharing, Kristie!

message 70: by Kristie, Moderator (last edited Feb 16, 2016 12:53PM) (new)

Kristie | 19139 comments Hahaha... That book has 1,167 ratings too, so people are reading it! lol

Edit: And I just noticed that it is $4.95 on Amazon for Kindle! So people are paying for it too! o_O

I don't know why, but all I could think was, "How do you get a haunted vagina? Is it like a house? Did someone die in there?"

message 72: by Sandra, Moderator (new)

Sandra (sanlema) | 11260 comments It seems that her vagina is the doorway to another world, Bella. :)
I recommend you read the description in its GR page because it worth the time!

Sandra (sanlema) | 11260 comments Sarah wrote: "Who writes this stuff?"

I've to theories: 1) The authors still didn't get over the fact he is not inside his mom anymore. 2) He had a VERY traumatic relationship with an ex-girlfriend.

I just did. Isn't it just like a man to fall for a girl he meets in your vagina? That's like double cheating.

Also, I have three kids, so I'm struggling with the how- and I'm assuming it's somehow magical- a full grown adult can climb into or out of your vagina.

Sometimes I disappear, too. I have anxiety disorder so sometimes I can't even cope with talking to people online. I also have issues in winter where my fibromyalgia flares up and I can't do anything. I just had to take a medication vacation- where they cut off one of my drugs- because it was making me have facial tics. (Don't want those becoming permanent.)

I was going to respond earlier, but I got distracted by vagina. (First time in my life I've ever said that!)

Travis (travistousant) | 6011 comments Monster porn sounds awfsome. Hi five Barney on that. I'd like to read one but I won't

message 79: by KimeyDiann (new)

KimeyDiann | 2174 comments Monster Porn has to be the most horrifyingly fascinating thing I have ever heard of! Read the books, I will not. Read the insane titles and book description, oh yes, I will! LOL. The Haunted Vagina description plus all of the commentary here about it just made me literally LOL in my office at work. I don't think I could I explain if my office neighbor came and asked what was so funny.

As far as genres I avoid... I read very few classics, although I continually try because I think I should. Non-fiction is rare for me too, but I will give it a try occasionally, usually for a challenge. But I think monster porn is the only genre that I absolutely will never read.

Janice (jamasc) | 59889 comments Sarah wrote: "Thanks for the laugh Kristie. I read the synopsis and immediately had to read it to my partner too. Who writes this stuff? And worse, who reads it?!"

I don't know which is worse - author or reader. I lean more towards the author because that person is the one creating this stuff.

I DONT read those either

message 83: by Dorottya (new)

Dorottya (dorottya_b) | 35 comments I would not say there is a genre I would never ever read anything from... but there are some that I do not reach for at all.

let us get the obvious non-fiction out of the way: 1) books aimed at people who have a different religion to me, 2) fact heavy textbooks for experts at a field I fail at :D. Also, I am not huge on poetry, either,

But... from fiction:
- high fantasy
- scifi
- historical novels where the political situation etc. is too important so it is too fact heavy
- erotica as a genre (I mean, if a book seems like it does not have a proper plot to complement the saucy scenes)
- religious romance
