SOLVED. YA book late 70's early 80's about ballet students, one is mean and sneaks doughnuts [s]

Hello! Since the last book I was looking for was found so quick I am hoping for help with another! Late 1970's or early 80's, dealing with ballet students who are struggling to succeed. Their ballet school teacher is male, the students get chosen to perform at a gala, but the main character is injured right beforehand. Also, there is the typical mean girl ballet student who sneaks jelly doughnuts because her mother is constantly nagging her about her weight. Appreciate the help! Sorry, I don't recall any details about the cover.

I don't recall the cover, the ages would be middle or high school. I believe it was a stand alone book.

I second Liralen's vote for Maggie Adams, Dancer (which had two sequels: Stay on Your Toes, Maggie Adams! and Between Dances: Maggie Adams' Eighteenth Summer).

I looked up the original cover to Maggie Adams, Dancer, and it does look familiar. I'm going to look into it a little deeper and if this is it I will post it here! Thank you!
