Josh Print fiction is becoming a bit of a hassle now-a-days; perhaps it's due to TV / Movie deals or maybe just the high pressure of publishers and the general public to "get the next book done". I'm sure neophyte book reviews and opinion soap boxes like this add to that pressure.... but I've found myself wholly turned off by and refusing to read new releases anymore less I end up getting George RR Martin'd / Rothfuss'd on a series again.

Meanwhile, there are a lot of great books still to be read for even the most voracious readers among us... I think maybe we should turn to already finished works by already great authors instead of facing the constant year-after-year disappointment from authors like the two I mentioned above bring. I stopped following Rothfuss and Martin online; stopped reading their blogs; paying public attention to them in general (aside from the HBO series of GoT).. These guys wrote a couple very much decent stories but, meanwhile, many people haven't read Blood Meridian, or the Evening Redness in the West by Cormac McCarthy or explored the exceptional world of Peter Hamilton's Void Trilogy The Void Trilogy 3-Book Bundle: The Dreaming Void, The Temporal Void, The Evolutionary Void... great pieces that are already completed years ago and waiting for our attention.

I wish Rothfuss and Martin the best in their new digital media careers but I am a fan of written art, epic creativity of unique and ambitious authors and exceptional storytelling so I will give my attention to those that take that path.
