Michael Korleone (michaelkorleone) | 3881 comments I'm working on a few page numbering requests and came across this book with ISBN 9781622662647. It contains a bonus prequel novella Shadows from pages 365-533. Should these pages not be counted? From the changelog I see a librarian change it from 533 to 352 (presumably, that's the page Opposition ends)

Also, if the book contains a bonus novella, should this book still be combined with other editions which don't have the novella? I'm inclined to separate this edition and add to the Lux series as book 5 and 0.5. Would that be the right way to go?

lethe | 16361 comments It should definitely be included in the page count. Since it's such a substantial extra I would be inclined to separate the edition too, but the rules are a bit hazy on when we should and shouldn't combine these.

Michael Korleone (michaelkorleone) | 3881 comments I think we had a recent discussion where a novella was later expanded to full-length novel and yet the editions were combined (supposedly the correct way). Not sure what to do when a book includes a bonus novella, though. Guess I'll just wait for Rivka :)

When the bonus is a short story, we would usually leave it combined. But I agree that in this case the "bonus" is essentially almost another book, so I would separate.

Michael Korleone (michaelkorleone) | 3881 comments Thanks, Rivka. I found a couple of other editions having the bonus prequel. Separated them and added to the series as book 5, 0.5

lethe | 16361 comments I had a look at the book, because it all sounded so familiar, and I found a previous thread: https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...

That had an inconclusive ending though. Glad it's finally been solved :)

Michael Korleone (michaelkorleone) | 3881 comments Thanks for digging that up! I don't even remember agreeing with you back then :D. 7 months later I ended up doing what I initially suggested anyway (with due blessings from TPTB)!
