Week 6- Feb 8

I'm still really sick and just have zero attention span so have really lagged behind :( how's everyone else doing this week?

I have finished Silence of the Grave for my 'The next book in a series you are reading' prompt. It's #4 in the Inspector Erlendur series but only the second to be translated into English. It's a dark tale centering around the discovery of a body in a remote part of Iceland and domestic violence so not an easy read but it had me hooked from the first line “He knew at once it was a human bone, when he took it from the baby who was sitting on the floor chewing it.” It's a series I will be continuing in the future. ★★★★

I've also started Inside the O'Briens for my 'Book from the Goodreads Choice Awards 2015' prompt which i'm loving so far.

Despite my desire to get back into my old writing habits, my reading habits have increased instead. Sigh. I guess I can't be too disappointed, though. Last week I completed Cinder (fairy tale) and The Maze Runner (dystopian). I've already finished another for this week, but I'll save that for the next update. :)

I read Room and One Plus One. I read Room really quick as I wanted to see the movie on Monday. I enjoyed the movie more than the book. Sometimes Jack frustrated me in the novel and I started skimming sections to get to the next point. One plus One I enjoyed, it was very easy book to get through and I didn't think I was going to like but I ended up quite enjoying it.

Have you read other books by Lisa Genova? I wasn't a huge fan of Inside the O'Brians but I loved Still Alice.

The series you are reading sounds very dark. How many books are in the series?

This is my third Lisa Genova book. I loved Still Alice, such a moving story I think I gave it 5 stars. I've also read Left Neglected which I struggled to really get into that got 3.5 stars. This book at the moment (40% ish read) is sitting somewhere between the two.

I think there are 12 books in the Inspector Erlendur series, some less dark than others, but i'm not sure how many of them have been translated into English so far.

I read Room too. I found the characters to be annoying in parts and there were certain things that happened in the book that were so far fetched. I was generous and gave it 3 stars.

I finished The Name of the Star by Maureen Johnson last Friday for a book by an author I really should have read by now. I've been following Maureen on Twitter for at least three years, so it's about time I got around to reading one of her books.
