I'm reading "Your Soul's Plan" by Robert Schwartz right now - it's fascinating!

message 2: by [deleted user] (new)

Right now, I'm reading "Big Magic" by Elizabeth Gilbert. I absolutely adore Liz Gilbert - she is unassuming with flashes of true insight and a great sense of humour! I must admit, though, that I was expecting a bit more from this book. It's good, but I have gotten more out of watching her interviews on the subject.

I'm looking forward to reading Big Magic too, Catherine; and I did hear that this is a short book, but I've enjoyed watching some of her interviews.

Playing Big (by Tara Mohr) is another recent book I read that I liked - if you haven't read it yet?

message 4: by [deleted user] (new)

No, I haven't seen that book - thx, I'll have to check it out :)

Barbara | 127 comments I just started The Field by Lynne McTaggart. Supposedly this book will scientifically support ideas that ancient myth and religions have always supported. I'll let you know after I get into it.

I just looked it up Barbara, and it sounds really interesting... I'm going to check it out!

Also, there was another book I had enjoyed called Code Name: God by Mani Bhaumik, which was part-biography and part-science - he was a billionaire scientist who invented laser technology for Lasik, but who came from poor beginnings. I enjoyed both the biography as well as his scientific spin on God.

If you like that, you might also enjoy, "The Tao of Physics: An Exploration of the Parallels Between Modern Physics and Eastern Mysticism" by physicist Fritjof Capra.

Nikee | 4 comments I usually read several books at once. That's not always a good thing! Right now, some of the books I am reading include, Ho'oponopono, What Religious Science Teaches and The Complete Book of Chakra Healing: Activate the Transformative Power of Your Energy Centers.

LOL! I'm the same way Nikee :)
I've written a whole series of blog posts on Chakras from a slightly different angle - the 7 stages of consciousness - if you're interested... http://www.nestintheforest.com/7-chak...

Kris (krisg11) | 27 comments Thank you for inviting me to the group. I've been reading the posts and feel inspired. My name is Kris, I live in Utah. I enjoy reading, gardening and photography. I've been on Good Reads since 2009. I enjoy reading spiritual and esoteric reads. Like some of the other posters, I like to read several books at a time, a spiritual read, fun read and business read. I look forward to learning and sharing with the group. I just picked up Chakra Yoga by Anodea Judith. I loved her books Wheels of Life and Eastern Body, Western Mind.

Happy you're here Kris, and thanks for introducing yourself :) Anodea Judith's books are a great entry point into understanding Chakras, and if you want to get a bit of a deeper dimension, check out my Chakra series from the perspective of consciousness: http://www.nestintheforest.com/7-chak...

Jammie | 4 comments Right now, I'm close to finishing "The Spontaneous Fulfillment of Desire: Harnessing the Infinite Power of Coincidence" by Deepak Chopra. Ironically, I found this book about synchronicity via synchronicity! Hahaha! There's a lot of technical information in this book that was heavy at times, but overall, I really like learning more about this subject. I think I'd like to read "Big Magic" next. I need more creativity in my life and I am hoping that book will lend some inspiration.

And I got the Deepak Chopra book, per your recommendation :) As for Big Magic, I think you'll really appreciate Liz Gilbert's take on fear. Here's a taste: http://www.oprah.com/oprahstour/Eliza...

Dewin, if you liked the Book of Secrets, you might also like How to Know God - also by Deepak Chopra (but maybe give yourself some time between the two). And I'm reading Lynne McTaggart's the Bond now - and it does take some concentration, but it's an interesting book!

Keysha, I've checked how other book clubs manage such instances, and deleted your entry. If you'd like to stay on in the group and participate in the conversations you're welcome to.

Dewin Anguas Barnette | 37 comments You and my dad should chat, Barbara! He loves Edgar Cayce! We have been to the ARE center in VA twice for conferences and heard Kevin Todeschi speak. Super good times. I have the Akashic Records one and a bunch of others. Did you get it from ARE?

message 33: by Barbara (new)

Barbara | 127 comments I would love to visit the ARE center - I've read nearly all of the Cayce books. I got this one from Amazon but it's compiled (the readings) from the records at ARE. Cayce was an amazing seer/prophet and I'm glad to hear there are others who appreciate all that he has written to teach us.

That's funny Debbie... but it's sweet of you to want to support her!! Here's a secret though: you don't have to finish it :) I've lost count of how many books I've abandoned. Life's too short to read a book you can't get through...

message 45: by Barbara (new)

Barbara | 127 comments Right on Saiisha, I used to finish every book I started. One day I sadly realized that I'd never be able to read all of the books I wanted to, so I began giving books about a hundred pages to grab me and if not, let it go.
