Bill Maher Interview of Gloria Steinem

You're welcome, when I stumbled upon the article had to share immediately! Same here, I want to know what other folks think of it.

I am pretty disappointed actually. With both her and Madeleine Albright. It goes against what I thought I have been reading in her book - yes, women need to stick together, but politically manipulating young women by saying they are just after boys...how is that helpful? It's undermining women's intellectual capabilities.
I keep thinking that if I am supposed to vote for Hillary solely because she is a woman, why not vote for Carla Fiorina...?

I saw on FB that Albright said there is a special place in hell for women who don't vote for Clinton. How lovely.

You welcome:)

So, Urszula, you may want to read Ms. Steinam's response first. Maybe it'll clear the issue up, maybe not, that's up to you, but you should at least know she has responded. :)

well I checked and the other thread didn't post the videos, so made a separate one, sorry! I will check because this is burning me that's how curious I am about it.

Albright's rhetoric turned ugly with "“There’s a special place in hell for women who don’t help each other!”

You mean the one Carla posted? No. On the thread I sent you'll see a comment by someone named Christamer, in which they list a quote from Ms. Steinam's facebook page, regarding what she said in the Bill Maher interview. I think it was one of the first 20 comments so it should be easy enough to find.

Found it. Thanks Tim!

She did apologize and I give her credit for that. However, I expected more from her. It seems to me that since she is supporting Clinton she wants every feminist to support her as well. It is like since we all want to have equal rights we need to blindly follow one another.
In my opinion we should think for ourselves and stand up for ourselves (which is often mistaken by following the same people). I do support Hilary as a feminist but I don't believe she is fit to be a president. This is my personal opinion but it does not make me a person who believes woman do not deserve to have all the rights.

I'm not voting for anyone simply because they are black, gay or a woman.
As a Baha'i, a member of the Baha'i Faith, we have believed in the equality of the genders since the beginning in 1844 in Persia. bahai.org
When the first woman is elected President, I pray she will do well for this country.

Same here.

''Gloria Steinem appeared on HBO’s Real Time With Bill Maher last night for a one-on-one interview with the host to promote her new book, My Life on the Road. And midway through what turned out to be a mostly measured, ten-minute conversation between the 81-year-old feminist icon and a comedian whose track record on women’s issues has always been spotty at best, Maher asked Steinem why she thought so many young women were supporting Bernie Sanders over Hillary Clinton in the Democratic primary.
At first, Steinem — who had praised young women’s activism just moments earlier — was cautious. “Women get more radical as we get older,” she said, explaining that women lose power as they age while men gain it, and feeling oppressed radicalizes you. Steinem did not explain why she felt Clinton was a more radical choice for the nomination than Sanders. Instead, the activist who once declared Sanders an “honorary woman” told Maher, “When you’re young, you’re thinking, ‘Where are the boys? The boys are with Bernie?'” Maher immediately realized her statement would be a controversial one — and, indeed, it has already drawn anger from young, female Sanders supporters on social media''.
