Great pic Kamas, I'm envious.

I've gone to Cancun twice and never got to see the Mayan ruins there. When my husband and I went there in 1986 for a second honeymoon we weren't allowed to go because the day before a band of Mexican Guerrillas had boarded a tourist bus and taken everyone's valuables so they put all the tours on lock down.
When I went this year for my daughter's wedding there was too much to do and I didn't have a free full day. If I remember the tours are about 8hrs total and more than 4 hours is travel time.
Maybe one day :)

Well the jack-o-lanterns are put away and the harvest decorations are up for Thanksgiving. We're finally getting some tree color but along with going back to standard time we're also expecting strong storms because it will be close to 80 degrees (that's 26 for you Ang)
so I'll probably wake up Monday to a yard full of beautiful leaves and bare trees. LOL
I'm getting the itch to bake as always when it gets cooler and I'm looking forward to preparing for the holidays and doing my no-snow dance.
What's happening at your place>

I've finally turned in all my contract reviews and am now enjoying my week off.
I'm reading IT Lucas's book #11 in her Children of the Gods series - Dark Guardian FoundDark Guardian Found its a new twist on Urban Fantasy/Paranormal Romance and each couple gets three books for their love story. If you're a fan of the genre its worth a look Dark Guardian Found Dark Guardian Found (Children of the Gods #11) by I.T. Lucas

Next up is a December release that I"m interviewing the author for my blog - Dark Winds RisingDark Winds Rising is the second novel about a 15th Century Wales Queen, she's a warrior, a lover and a fabulous leader I really enjoyed the first book, Between Two Fires (Queen Branwen #1) by Mark Noce -Between Two Fires and am really looking forward to this one - Dark Winds Rising- Dark Winds Rising (Queen Branwen #2) by Mark Noce

What are you reading this weekend?

Ang from OZ | 1690 comments I just finished up "Force of Nature" by Jane Harper. Great mystery read and her second book. I read her debut book "The Dry" last year.

I've got the baking itch as well Deb, and plan to try out some new biscuit receipes in prep for Xmas. I like to give handmade gifts to people. And because I totally suck at craft that leaves baking! My favorite to do by far is my Nan's Coconut Sugar Cookies!

The weather's hot hot and hotter here, bad storm blew through during the week. Trees down and minor damage to one of my window shades, will have to wait for Handsome Prince to get home to fix. He is on a 3 week away stint for work at a gold mine.

He bought me the Harry Potter Illustrated Editions (1-3) before he left. They are gorgeous books!!!

Wow yeah Kamas send it to Ang I don't want it. They're predicting a snowy winter for us this year. The last two years have been really light and last year I don't think I even shoveled the driveway.

Kamas Kirian (kamas716) | 928 comments Sorry, it all melted Saturday. Little Britches got to have a snowball fight, though. She started making a snowman, but ran out of snow.

I started reading Conan the Barbarian: The Complete Collection. When I was a kid I read a whole bunch of the comics. I still have around 50 issues of Savage Sword The Savage Sword of Conan, Vol. 9 by Michael L. Fleisher . But I've never read the actual Robert E. Howard stories. I've been quite impressed. I've read Solomon Kane, but I think his Conan stories are a little better.

message 1470: by Kamas (new)

Kamas Kirian (kamas716) | 928 comments It started as serials, then got collected into novels later. Then it got the comic book treatment and finally movies. The Conan comics were really the only ones I ever collected as a kid/young adult. After college I flipped through a few of them now and then at the magazine rack, but I never bought anymore.

I thought I'd never get finished with this month's reviews but I finally got them all turned in yesterday. whew
Now I'm reading a historical romance by our author friend Lisa Verge Higgins The Captive Knight The Captive Knight by Lisa Ann Verge
Then I have a few I'd like to get to this month Wyvern's Outlaw Wyvern's Outlaw (The Dragons of Incendium #4) by Deborah Cooke , then if I have time I want to read book 12 in I T Lucas' Children of the Gods series Dark Guardian Craved Dark Guardian Craved (Children of the Gods #12) by I.T. Lucas

I haven't really craved Christmas books yet
Anyone else in the spirit to read holiday tales?

message 1476: by Ang from OZ (new)

Ang from OZ | 1690 comments I haven't craved any holiday reads yet either Deb. I just finished up the book I was reading, pretty ho hum, so much so I've already forgotten what the title was!! I have Mum visiting for the weekend, Handsome Prince has gone away for most likely another month away for work. Mum and I went to the Handmade Christmas Markets this morning, so many lovely things for sale. But oh boy, some of the prices were extraordinary , I understand it's handmade but don't see how they expect to sell anything!

I know Ang I remember when Erin was young the community center near where we lived used to have a Huge holiday craft fair and we'd go every year. I've probably spent $500 there over the course of the 15 or so years we went. One of my most prized Christmas decorations is my handmade ceramic tree (there's a pic of it on off topic chat) I paid $20 for it. Just recently I went to a craft fair found one that I wanted to buy that was half the size and they wanted $150 for it. I wanted to ask if the lightbulb inside was covered in gold. LOL But I do love going to the craft fairs.

Well its only two weeks left until Christmas has anyone got time for reading. When and where do you read? Is it a favorite spot with just the right lighting, or is it nowhere in particular?

I have the love seat in our home and hubs has the couch so I've made the lighting in both places good for whatever we're doing.

I did get Lisa's book The Captive Knight finished it was fab and I'll be interviewing her for the blog soon so stay tuned.
And I was also able to get in Wyvern's Outlaw which is by one of my favorites and one of Ang's too. I had to stop there because after nothing but crickets for months LibraryJournal thinks I need more to do this month. LOL

Have a great weekend!

I have my end of the couch and my husband has the other. I also have a bedrest pillow that I use to read in bed. I just started reading The Christmas Pony by Melody Carlson. I have several free Christmas books that I have downloaded over the last few years and I try to pick from them this time of year.

Kamas Kirian (kamas716) | 928 comments Most of my reading is done at work during down times, or when waiting for someone somewhere. When I'm at home I like sitting on one of the two couches (upstairs in the living room or downstairs in the family room), or once in awhile in one of the recliners if my wife isn't home.

Trying to get stuff done for the holidays has been taking up most of my time, so not much reading lately. I might get some in tonight as I wait for my daughter to get done with dance.

Well it's Friday and I'm getting my reading done for the March editions of the publications I review for. It's kind of hard putting up Christmas decorations while your characters get ready for spring, and equally hard in July, August and September reading holiday tales :)

Are you ready for Christmas? I'm just about just a few finishing baking things and the long range forecast for next weekend shows maybe winter precip which is not good because we're supposed to by Ho Ho ing it up at a relatives next Saturday, fingers crossed they're wrong this time.
