Ang from OZ | 1690 comments I am almost done with Behind Her Eyes, I picked it up because of the apparent WTF ending that everyone seems to be talking about in their reviews. I manage to stay away from any spoilers, very well done on my part I think! The books really been quite a page turner and I'm looking forward to seeing how it pans out. All the character are some level of crazy!!

Its been a rather mild winter for me and from reading your posts for a lot of you too.
Has this weird weather changed how you read at all this winter?

Let's start thinking about a book to read for Spring together
Suggestions?

Just read the synopsis of Behind Her Eyes. It does look interesting, Ang!

I just went online and put it on hold at my library. I think I'm next in line!

Ang from OZ | 1690 comments Finished Behind Her Eyes last night. Now I see the reason for the #wtfthatending! Don't know if I'm stupid or what, by I never seen it coming! I think I sat there with my mouth hanging open in surprise for a full minute!

Finished the latest Harry Bosch book, The Wrong Side of Goodbye by Michael Connelly. Of the books I've read so far this year, it's probably my favorite.

Now I'm reading Power in the Blood by Michael Lister. Not bad so far for a freebie.

What are you reading this weekend?

The last book I couldn't put down doesn't release until early July it was M.J. Rose's upcoming The Library of Light and Shadow

what was yours?

message 1317: by Ang from OZ (new)

Ang from OZ | 1690 comments I haven't picked up a book at all this weekend. Think I have a bit of book hangover from Behind Her Eyes.

Plus I've been having trouble with my back this week, and find can't sit for long periods of time, so that might be adding to the reading slum as well. Two eagerly awaited releases next week, with books from Patricia Briggs and Anne Bishop, that should solve my reading issues I'm pretty sure.

message 1318: by [deleted user] (last edited Mar 16, 2017 05:36AM) (new)

I also read Behind Her Eyes. What a twist there at the end!

I just finished the true crime book, Out There, by Diane Fanning. It's about the lady astronaut who drove 900 miles straight (supposedly wearing diapers) to confront her rival in a love triangle. You may remember it from the news around 10 years ago.

message 1319: by Ang from OZ (new)

Ang from OZ | 1690 comments Yes what a twist Tarheelgirl, I remember reading the ending and thinking, waaaait what?!!!!! Definitely a ending I don't think anyone would pick! It really does match the #wtfthatending perfectly well.

I'm currently reading Etched in Bone by Anne Bishop, this is the last book in this series story arc, and I'm nervous about what's going to happen, been with these characters for 5 books, and I don't want anything bad to happen. But have a bad feeling brewing that something will.

Kamas Kirian (kamas716) | 928 comments Ang from OZ wrote: "Whatcha been watching on Netflix Kamas?"

I'm finishing up the last season of Hemlock Grove. I think the first season was the best. Before that I watched Vexed (the two seasons were very different for me. S1 with Lucy Punch was hilarious, but only 3 episodes. S2 with Miranda Raison still had humor but they seemed more focused on the drama. It was also good, just in a different way.

Earlier I binged a bunch of SF/F with Dark Matter, Lost Girl and Bitten. Lost Girl I thought was the best of those three, entertaining but still nothing out of this world stellar.

In January I also watched almost all of Republic of Doyle, which I thought was pretty good through the first three seasons (S3 premiere featured Russell Crowe and was the best episode of the series I think). The 4th season was OK, but by the 5th I just wasn't into it anymore and I still haven't seen the last two episodes.

message 1323: by Ang from OZ (new)

Ang from OZ | 1690 comments I've seen Lost Girl and Bitten, started reading the books that Bitten is based on, but they differ in storyline a fair bit. I haven't heard of the other shows you mentioned. I've just finished Season 4 of Vikings, and watched about half of Season 6 of Once Upon a Time, and also watched Into the Badlands.

message 1324: by Kamas (new)

Kamas Kirian (kamas716) | 928 comments I watched the first episode of Glitch, but it didn't draw me in. Same with No Tomorrow. Oh, and I finished Haven finally. I wasn't impressed with the final season, though I thought the first two and a half seasons were pretty decent. I watched about the first season and a half of Once Upon A Time, but sort of lost interest.

Its been a rough week at the Haupt casa, hubby hurt his back somehow and has spent the last 3 days in bed. If it doesn't get any better we're off to the dr on Monday. It sounds like a pinched nerve.

I've read some really good books that are coming out in June Sarah Morgan's 4th in her Manhattan with Love series, New York Actually and a wonderful women's fiction novel about a country boy and girl stars called The Whole Way Home.

This weekend I'll be trying desperately to finish my contracted reviews which are due Wednesday

What are you reading this weekend?

So what's everyone been reading, watching or listening to?

I'm reading Red Sister by a UK fantasy author Mark Lawrence its dark and delicious just the way I like my fantasy. I first discovered him with his debut Prince of Thorns which is one of the best fantasies out there I think. So far Red Sister is fabulous.

Next up is by my all time favorite author and one of Ang's too Deborah Cooke, the 4th of her Templar novels, The Crusader's Vow.

I've just watched Fantastic Beasts and where to Find Them. I was a bit disappointed not as well made as the Harry Potter movies but the beasts were fantastic.

Right now I'm listening to Christine Feehan's Water Bound which is a spin off of her Drake Sisters series.
Next I'm salivating to listen to The Chosen by JR Ward.

So what's on your spring reading list?

message 1340: by Ang from OZ (last edited Apr 08, 2017 04:35PM) (new)

Ang from OZ | 1690 comments I've been having a run on Thrillers of late, think I burnt myself out after the last one, as I haven't picked up a book all week. Instead I've been binge watching The Vampire Diaries, But the last few books I read, really were excellent.

Ragdoll (Detective William Fawkes, #1) by Daniel Cole After the Dark (Killer Instinct, #1) by Cynthia Eden No Darker Place (Shades of Death #1) by Debra Webb All the Missing Girls by Megan Miranda The Dry (Aaron Falk, #1) by Jane Harper Good Me, Bad Me by Ali Land Etched in Bone (The Others, #5) by Anne Bishop

I have Close Enough to Touch by Colleen Oakley sitting on my bedside table ready to start. It has a love it or your money back sticker on the front, some gimmick by the publisher I guess?!

Red Sister sounds great Deb, I might look at giving it a go. And I've read Christine Feehan for many years, but she and I have parted ways a few years ago. The last Ghostwalker book I read of hers, the hero was extremely abusive towards his lady love, and that didn't sit well with me. Feehan has defended the character and many characters since this book, saying that they are "Alpha Males" mmmm yeah whatever. I did enjoy most of the Sister's of the Heart books though Deb. The last book in the series "Bound Together" just released a few weeks ago.

I have found quiet a few new authors already this year! I guess as we get older our reading tastes change, once upon a time I only read paranormal romance, and urban fantasy. Now I feel really adult, because I prefer thriller, suspense. Has any one else noticed changes in genre for their reading preferences?

Yeah I know what you mean about the parting of ways I've done that for many different reasons with many different authors, I remember one author who wrote a really disparaging account against Native Americans in a historical romance and it really put me off. I haven't read Christine in years, never read her Ghostwalker books but did devour the Drakes, and the Carpathian series then I don't know I guess I lost interest because it seemed it was the same book different title.

Kamas, I find The Originals a bit more grown-up, where as The Vampire Diaries is more for tweens, you could say. I haven't watched Season 2 or 3 of The Originals yet. Will catch up on that once I'm done with V/Diaries.

Have you watch the TV Series Van Helsing?

message 1347: by Ang from OZ (new)

Ang from OZ | 1690 comments YES Susan!! :) when you add a book to your reading shelf, just change the edition to audio.

I went through a faze of listening to books on my way to work, my commute is only about 10 minutes though, so not much time to get involved in the story. Handsome Prince would then get in my car, and say "What's this #($*&$(??"

What is everyone's plans for Easter?
