Finished "Hollow City" yesterday. I'm really getting hooked on this series. I plan to read the next one as soon as it's available. I'm next on the list. In the meantime, I need to finish "The Mental" and maybe pick something fun and quirky.

Oh I like those Susan when you start at the end and work through it. Let us know!

Excited to be starting Library of Souls by Ransom Riggs, the final book of the Peculiar Children trilogy.
I am trying out Jennifer Estep's YA Mytho's Academy Series. Yes it's for young adults, but I really enjoyed her other series so much I thought what the hell! I see that Deb has read and reviewed it!Also reading the second book in "The 5th Wave" series called The Infinite Sea.
I see on TV last night that the new 6 part episodes of The X Files airs in OZ on 31st January, this Sunday!
Numbers! I've been adding up all the receipts from stuff my wife bought for her classroom last year. Pretty soon we'll be able to do our taxes. Yay.

Here too Ang about the X-Files. I wonder what that means for the Irish series, The Fall she stars in w/Jamie Dornan?

Hey Ang, brace yourself for the first episode of the X files revival -- it's pretty awful. But the second episode is a thousand times better so it's worth the slog!
Lisa, we've been watching the re-runs on TV, it has been amusing. I'll keep that in mind with the first ep, I was never a die hard fan of the show. But there is little else on TV in OZ right now, so it's something to watch.
Its Friday what are you reading this weekend?
I've finally finished my reviews whew, and the day before they're due the managing editor sends out a letterwith some changes on it. Really it couldn't wait until this issue was put to bed and send it before we start reading next months, no. So I had to go back and re-write some reviews on books I haven't laid eyes on for weeks. Grrrr!
I'm reviewing a sweet children's book on the blog today-
I'm reading Donna Augustine's second in her Plaguer series-
I want to read a few others too I'll keep checking in

Deb, The Wilds series by Donna Augustines sounds like something i would like. Is it YA? Do you get a say in what books you have to read and review? I am reading the 2nd book in Jennifer Estep's Mythos Academy, also downloaded a new book and author for me yesterday that looks good, but can't remember the name or author lol, having a senior moment I think!

Ang I would call Donna Augustine's The Wilds series more NA, the protagonist is 18 but its a post apocalyptic world and it has a more adult UF feel to it. But she has given her heroine a real good dose of innocence so I guess it could be YA.
Ang the books I review for the Magazine I pick but then sometimes my editor twists my arm if she can't get anyone to pick the last book left on the review shelf. I do review an entire HQN series so I don't pick the actual books.
LibraryJournal on the other hand my editor just sends me a book sight unseen, she knows what genre and authors I like and she does tend to send me repeat authors but I have no idea what's coming before it hits my doorstep.

Just started "Extreme Honor" by Piper J Drake. This is the new author i was talking about. Only just starting chapter 3 and I'm hooked. Ex military guy, with a military dog suffering from the loss of his handler, in enters the female lead, a dog whisperer! All adds up to my kinda read :)
Just finished Extreme Honor by Piper J Drake. Enjoyed it so much, haven't read a good romantic suspense like it for a while, book 2 doesn't release until July. Starting Deborah Blake's 3rd baba yaga book this afternoon, I think it is going to be a fun read.
Finished The Dark Place and started the next Gideon Oliver book, Murder in the Queen's Armes. Not starting out quite as fast paced, but I'm only about 15 pages in right now.
Just finished listening to The Forgotten Room coauthored by Karen White, Beatriz Williams and Lauren Willig. Narrated by two wonderful women one is the voice of Siri Susan Bennett
got a 5 star rating from me

What aren't I reading. I still have 1 started arc to finish reading and another one I hope to get started on today so I can review it. Then I have 4 library books, The guest cottage by nancy Thayer (which I also have a copy on nook thinking of returning this book not sure it's large print and that was the reason I got it. seems lately every book I'm reading is on nook so getting the library copy sometimes helps to push it along), After the crash by Michel bussi (got this one because I thought it was going to be a buddy gap read), Notorious nineteen by evanovich (I'm behind on this series and even though again on nook this is the large print copy and I kind of had it out a few weeks ago and just ended up returning it today is the day I hope to start it) and The magic strings of frankie presto by mitch album (I got this one because I saw it was a february read that Hoda from the today show I believe picked I don't watch it but decided before seeing what it was about to get it and I was lucky and got a copy not really my type of book but I have read 1 book in the past by this author and liked it)Also have on the current list a buddy read by Toni Anderson Cold Pursuit, my late night read Off the record by K A Linde.
At the moment none of the library books are started and I want to hopefully start one of them today at some point if I can get the arcs that need to be read out of the way.
If I can stay offline long enough maybe I can get more reading in than I have been. when I'm on the iPad mini it's just so easy to go and check mail, Facebook or something else and not read what I need to catch up on.

Wow Donnajo, that's quite the list.
I just finished The Ramblers by Aidan Donnelley Rowley I really liked it -
I'm just starting my in person book club read about the Lusitania - Dead Wake -
And then I'll be starting our book club read - In The Heart of the Sea-
If anyone likes Darynda Jones I'm interviewing her on the blog today - http://thereadingfrenzy.blogspot.com/...
Have a great Friday!

Donnajo, I know what you mean about the distraction of technology! That is why I have an e-reader without Internet access. I even have trouble staying out of the shop on my Nook! ;)
My nooks I don't even leave hooked up to internet. I finished Lady in Red by Mel teshco which is a arc I finished last night so just reviewed. Now I have one more arc that I want to push to finish up today it's around 300 something pages and I'm 40 some into it already. that is hopefully what I want to get though this morning. they read if I can get into them pretty fast. then I want to start one of the library books. I'll check this weekend if I'll end up keeping any or just take them back since out of the 4 I have 3 I have on Ebooks too. It's really how my mood is today. It's snowing so not going anyplace. I'm a little behind on a few books that I finished that I have to write up in my written book journal so that is the next job after checking the rest of my mail.
Debbie wrote: "Donnajo wrote: "What aren't I reading. I still have 1 started arc to finish reading and another one I hope to get started on today so I can review it. I know I had them downloaded on my old laptop hard drive but not sure they they got put on the flash drive to move to this new laptop before the old one died on me. I still haven't decided how I'm going to deal with the books on there. I might weed though them first and if they are on all the Ereaders I might just delete them and not bother moving them over on the air.
Donnajo, it sounds like you are going to be a reading machine this weekend!
I am reading Thunderhead by Preston & Child. I really liked Relic and Reliquary. Though Thunderhead is not a part of the series, Kamas recommended reading it next. Thanks Kamas! I have just gotten to the part where Bill Smithback enters the picture.

I hope. So far this year I read 17 books. I always have more than one going. Never know what my mood is. Also picked up the choice by sparks from library earlier
It may be the weekend but I have a feeling that there will be a lot of books remaining on shelves until the festivities of Mardi Gras and Super Bowl are over.
so will you be reading or celebrating this weekend?
so will you be reading or celebrating this weekend?
Just finished the last arc of the to be reviewed books. Next will be reading a buddy read which I have started cold pursuit by Toni Anderson and starting the choice. Maybe I will remember having read it before then I can move on to something else
Reading for me as well, its been raining here the past few days, Hallelujah! Plus temps have been cooler! What a relief that has been!
like I don't have enough books my sister gave me her library book which she said was great it's due on the 10th and it's If you only knew by Kristinj Higgins. so I think I'm starting that tonight and see if it grabs me right away and then go back to reading the sparks book tomorrow. I know if I really stick with a book all day tomorrow I might be able to read a whole one. just have to figure out which book.
I plan on finishing a book this weekend, "Ready Player One". I'm just beginning the last 70 pages or so and it's really exciting!I also just started another Louise Penny novel, "How the Light Gets In" (Chief Inspector Armand Gamache #9).
I bought the Nook book "True Grit" by Charles Portis and read the first several pages. My son is reading it in his English class and I have always wanted to read it myself, so I thought this was a great opportunity at a group read with him. I will let you know who finishes first. ;)
Donnajo I hope you like the Higgins book I did and even though its part of a series it reads great alone
Susan, what kind of car are you looking at? And I never read True Grit but did enjoy the John Wayne flick
I'm just starting Dead Wake -
About the Lusitania for my in person read tomorrow night. And I'll be starting In the Heart of the Sea for our read this week sometime and will have questions up on Monday. Then fun time is over and its off to reading my contracted books.
Enjoy your Sunday and I hope who ever your rooting for in the Super Bowl they win!

I dropped it back in the library bin today since it's due this week and I found a copy on the nook I can read. when we checked this one didn't stay it was part of a series. maybe I should check on the author's website since goodreads didn't that it part of a series and my sister really enjoyed it. I also took back the mitch album and the michel Bussi one since that couldn't be reviewed and there was no way I would have read in that fast. so will have to get it out another time. I'm more than 1/2 way though the sparks book I'm still thinking I read it already but I don't have it listed in the journals or on good reads. and I still can't remember the ending. but I'll finish that one up today I'm sure. Finished the K A Linde book last night so one late night red finished.
I love both of the film versions of True Grit. The John Wayne version is a sentimental favorite, since I watched it with my dad. The Coen brothers version is fantastic!

Donnajo I'm so sorry I told you a lie, If You Only Knew is NOT a series it's Kristans last Women's Fiction release from September it's Anything For You her December release that was part of a series. Sorry! Ugh

That is okay.I finished last night the choice by sparks a good book. Can not go wrong with his books. Every time I read any of his I remember a book signing of his I went to. He took a picture with me. Made me go around the back of the table he was sitting out and put his arms around me had to be one of my best signings.
From what my sister said the reviews for the movie aren't good but would still like to go. He's one author I love that when I see his movies I always enjoy them.
Finished Hidden Impact by Piper J Drake, a new author I stumbled across. It was a Romantic Suspense, and I really enjoyed it.Continuing on with Jennifer Estep's Mytho's Acadmey at the moment, on to book 3. And I just downloaded a book which I think will be right up my alley, Mercury Strikes by Rebecca Zanetti, sounds a bit like The Walking Dead kind of story. I haven't read her books before. Nice to pick up some new favorite authors!!! :)
OMG, new Harry Potter Book, the screenplay of Harry Potter & The Cursed Child! Releases 31st July 2016. Tried to attached news story link, but it's not working.

Well its Friday Yay!!
Who's going to watch the Grammys?
I'm already into my contract reviews but I am going to take a break from them on Sunday to read the scheduled section of In The Heart Of The Sea and I'll have some questions up on Monday!

Used to watch awards shows back in the day, but I lost interest through the years.
Hope to finish Thunderhead this weekend. I picked up In the Heart of the Sea: The Tragedy of the Whaleship Essex at the library, so I hope to get started on it too.
I've been reading Icy Clutches by Aaron Elkins. It takes place in Glacier Bay, AK. One of the things I just love about our modern age is the ability to jump on the internet and look up stuff I'm not familiar with. Particularly physical settings. I like to get a visual of what their dealing with when reading a story, and Google Earth and Google Maps are a huge boon.

I'm also a curious reader Kamas and I'm also always googling people, places and things I'm reading about.
Thanks!

Me too! One of my favorite things to google is the particular restaurants a character goes to, and it's amazing to me to find that a lot of them are real!!!
