Hi Andreea, I haven't read Jacqueline in ages
let us know how it is!"

This is the 6th book in the Maisie Dobbs series and so far I loved every single one of them. The way it started this one sounds promising as well.

Ang I've heard a lot about that book and that series
enjoy!

Got started on Relic and am really enjoying it! I hope more of you will join us! I wasn't sure what to expect, but it's shaping up to be a good one!

message 805: by Ang from OZ (new)

Ang from OZ | 1690 comments Really enjoying All I Want by Jill Shalvis, great series and a easy read. And it has animals in it, a bonus for me being a big animal lover!

I've stalled with Lori Handeland's 3rd book in her Sister's of the Craft series. Started off okay, but I'm at about 75% and I find myself bored.

message 806: by Kamas (new)

Kamas Kirian (kamas716) | 928 comments I'm about 3/4 through Relic and enjoying it as much this time around as prior readings. Things just keep speeding along.

Its Friday, what are you reading?
Has the weather turned cooler yet where you are?

I've just finished my read for fun week
I read The Witch's Market by Mingmei Yip-The Witch's Market
Then The Edge of Lost by Kristina McMorris-The Edge of Lost
Then Heartsong Cottage by Emily March-Heartsong Cottage

Now I'm starting my February reviews

Enjoy the weekend!

message 815: by [deleted user] (new)

I'm three-quarters into Reliquary and I hope I have time to finish it this weekend. It's a really good book. Thanks to Kamas for suggesting Relic, because that's what got me started with this series.

The weather here is actually warmer today. It is supposed to hit the mid-70s. Tomorrow we could have rain with temps in the 60s.

message 816: by Kamas (new)

Kamas Kirian (kamas716) | 928 comments Rainy and cool the last couple of days. Little Britches and I are watching Stars since she's off today (don't know where she got so interested in SW since we don't do much with it around the house). Otherwise, I haven't even cracked my book in the last week.

It was WONDERFUL Ang I can't wait until book two! ;)

message 820: by Ang from OZ (new)

Ang from OZ | 1690 comments Yes I agree Deb, it was wonderful. I did pretty much nothing yesterday except read. I kept telling myself, it's too hot to do housework keep reading. Finished the whole book and have now started Spiders Bite by Jennifer Estep.

message 821: by Ruth (new)

Ruth | 206 comments I binged on "Fangirl" by Rainbow Rowell the end of this week. I loved it. I liked it even more than "Eleanor and Park." I hope to read "Carry On," which is a sequel to "Fangirl."

Now I'm reading "Career of Evil," the latest from Robert Galbraith (JK Rowling). The characters in this series are wonderfully full and engaging, I can't wait to read what happens next.

Also, reading "A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms" by George R. R. Martin. If you are a fan of the Game of Thrones world, this collection of tales is for you.

I'm working on my reviews but I don't understand how I don't work anymore but I still can't get everything done ;)
Have a Great weekend all!

I think you'll like this one, since it's got them both in it! It's really a Bosch book, but there's enough Mickey to keep the interaction between the characters extremely interesting!

Ang from OZ | 1690 comments I'm making my way through Jennifer Estep's Elemental Assassin's series. They are good but the author rehashes information alot! Gets really annoying.

Kamas Kirian (kamas716) | 928 comments I'm sort of skimming through The Evolution of Civilizations as I clean up the epub after converting from the pdf. It looks quite interesting, especially in these interesting times. Alas, I forgot my laptop at home tonight, so I guess I'll have to watch football.

Yeah Ang I find that happens in a lot of series. What seems to happen is their publisher for what ever reason wants it to stand alone therefore theres a lot of stuff fans will have to read over and over. Otherwise I love Jen's books and the spider series is my favorite.
I hope you're having a good week.
You know Thanksgiving in the US is next week. Does OZ have a Thanksgiving celebration?

message 834: by Kamas (new)

Kamas Kirian (kamas716) | 928 comments Well, I brought my laptop tonight, so I might get some more done on The Evolution of Civilizations as long as no more bomb threats come in tonight. There were apparently two earlier today in the city (not on campus, thankfully). People need to grow up.

message 835: by Ang from OZ (new)

Ang from OZ | 1690 comments No, we don't have thanksgiving in OZ. So I will have to live it through you guys!!
I'm enjoying the spider series a lot.
Someone recommended Jennifer Estep to me because I liked Ilona Andrew's.

Ang from OZ | 1690 comments Hmm, don't think we have Black Friday either. Maybe in the "Big Smoke" (like Sydney or Melbourne) they might do it. But I'm in what's called a Regional Area. Like I said I'll have to live Thanksgiving through you guys. I've never had pumpkin pie.... :)

Not to worry Ang w'ell walk you through Thanksgiving and hey maybe next year you could celebrate it with us. Bake a turkey and all the trimmings :)

message 839: by [deleted user] (new)

Ang, I think pumpkin pie is one of those things that you either like or hate. I made one last week with canned pumpkin that was easy and good. It had a can of sweetened condensed milk in it and I think that it what made it good. I'll probably make another one next week, though I'm not sure whether we're doing the meal at home with my dad and brothers or all going out.

Wonder if the same recipe would work using sweet potato instead of pumpkin?

message 842: by Ang from OZ (new)

Ang from OZ | 1690 comments The thought of having pumpkin and cream is a strange idea to me. Pumpkin is a vegetable and is only good with a Sunday Roast in my book!! :)

message 843: by Ruth (new)

Ruth | 206 comments We had a rash of bomb threats - 2-3 a week for several weeks at a time - in one of the districts I taught in last year. It became so disruptive, the district stopped notifying the public. They finally caught one of the little b*st*rds near the end of the year. He was in BIG trouble.

Oh wow I didn't know how lucky I was working in the private sector. Gosh so many crazies on school campuses now.
Well here's to quite school days

Everyone take care

Still knee deep in my reviews. Hoping next week to start my "for me" reads :)

message 845: by Kamas (new)

Kamas Kirian (kamas716) | 928 comments Fargo had a couple more threats called in, nothing for me though. A few years ago we had someone calling in using a fake phone number to hide where he was calling from. After the first one we didn't take it too seriously as it was obvious he wasn't in the area. He would use sound affects such as sirens in the background and then get all indignant that we called the police on him, but he didn't know any of the landmarks. He'd say things like he left it in the 'main building on campus'. Or that he was calling from a pay phone from 'Walmart', but when asked which one he gave the actual street address rather than how everyone describes it. After about two weeks we were finally given the OK to hang up on him if he called in. I got to take the call, the conversation lasted about 15 seconds before I hung up on him. He hasn't called back. He was just looking for attention and moved on to somebody else when we quit giving it to him.

message 846: by Kamas (new)

Kamas Kirian (kamas716) | 928 comments I like pumpkin pie. When I was a kid I LOVED it, maybe because of all the whipped cream on top. I've only had sweet potato pie once, when I was a kid, and it tasted quite like pumpkin to me.

I've never had pumpkin outside of a pie (other than pumpkin seeds, yum). I don't care for squash either, but my wife eats a lot of it.

Vegemite seems like a really odd food to me, though.

Ang from OZ | 1690 comments Reading Veiled Magic by Deborah Blake, really enjoy her books. Also cleaned the house from top to bottom, not very fun in 35 degree heat (95 in Fahrenheit) you could have rung out my clothes with how much sweat there was. Handsome Prince and Furry Cat helped, well cat just managed to put cat hair on everything i had already cleaned :) Off to the movies to see the next hunger games movie in 3D this afternoon. Least it will be cool in the cinemas!! Have a good weekend everyone!
