Well it's Friday again and I'm happy to report that it'll be a slow weekend full of lots of reading.
I'm just finishing up my review for LibraryJournal then I'll be starting on Marie Force's 2nd in her new e-rom Quantum trilogy
Valorous Valorous (Quantum Trilogy, #2) by M.S. Force

Then I'll finally get to read The Silver Witch!!! Can't wait The Silver Witch by Paula Brackston

I'm reading House Rules (Joe DeMarco, #3) by Mike Lawson by Mike Lawson. It's the third in the Joe DeMarco series. Back when I first got my Nook, "The Inside Ring" was one of the first Free Friday books that I downloaded. It was the first in the series, and one of many series that I'd like to catch up on!

I want to read "The Silver Witch" too! I read "The Winter Witch" and really enjoyed it. I think it was because you recommended it back on the old B&N forum.

Ang from OZ | 1690 comments The Silver Witch looks great. Which book is first in the series?

message 505: by [deleted user] (new)

I think the books are independent of each other, but let Deb confirm that.

message 514: by Kamas (new)

Kamas Kirian (kamas716) | 928 comments Finally finished Legions of Space, he collections of Keith Laumer stories. Some quite good, some not really my thing.

I've been reading some of the 2015 Hugo nominated short stories, and then I'm thinking I'll probably finish off Bee: The Princess of the Dwarfs since I started reading that to my daughter last night while she was in the tub.

message 515: by [deleted user] (new)

Started reading The Help. I picked it up at our local library's book sale.

Kamas, I loved Bee: The Princess of the Dwarfs!

Deb, glad to hear good things about The Silver Witch. It's on my list!

My in person book club will be discussing The Returned by Jason Mott on Monday so I'll be opening it up tomorrow.

message 522: by Kamas (new)

Kamas Kirian (kamas716) | 928 comments Finished Bee: The Princess of the Dwarfs, I wasn't that impressed with it.

I also read the short story It's All About Ethics In Revolution by Kameron Hurley, which is a thinly veiled allegory to this year's Hugo Awards Kerfuffle. I think she missed the whole point of Sad Puppies, because what she wrote works as a hit piece against Social Justice Warriors like the Nielsen Hayden's, K. Tempest Bradford and David Gerrold better than it does against the Sad Puppies.

Now I'm onto Midnight in Death, which isn't starting out too bad. I hope to finish it yet this morning.

message 523: by [deleted user] (new)

Started reading One Lane Bridge by Don Reid. Does anybody remember The Stadler Brothers? After they retired from the music industry, Don Reid started writing books.

message 524: by Kamas (new)

Kamas Kirian (kamas716) | 928 comments Growing up I listened to A LOT of the Statler Brothers along with The Oak Ridge Boys, Kenny Rogers and Anne Murray. Hee Haw and the Dolly Parton show were also staples. Then I grew up, moved out and started listening to my own choices of music instead of my parents/grand parents.

message 525: by [deleted user] (new)

I grew up with the same music. We listened to and watched all those shows, plus Barbara Mandrell and Glen Campbell. I still like the "old" country music a lot better than the "new."

message 526: by Kamas (new)

Kamas Kirian (kamas716) | 928 comments Oh yeah, forgot about the Mandrell Sisters. I actually got to meet Louise Mandrell when she performed at the Norsk Hostfest and one of her body guards ordered a pizza from us. She seemed very nice for the 30 seconds I was in the bus with her.

message 527: by [deleted user] (new)

She also used to have a theatre in Pigeon Forge and I saw her perform there when I went on a bus trip to the Gatlinburg area.

Reading the classic Northanger Abbey by Jane Austen that was free at B&N a couple of weeks back.

Kamas Kirian (kamas716) | 928 comments currently reading The Earth Is All That Lasts on one Nook, it was free through Phoenix Pick awhile back. I was surprised to find out the author was from ND, we usually do a bang up job of promoting in state people since we don't have that many. Currently residing in AZ might have something to do with it.

On the other Nook I'm reading The Many Deaths of Joe Buckley. It's a hoot.

Okay gang it's the start of a long holiday weekend for many of my US members so are you camping, traveling and will there be a novel for those down times?

I'm hoping to read book three in the Quantum trilogy by Marie Force, Victorious
Then I'm off to read Linda Lael Miller's upcoming The Marriage Season for her novel's release blog tour.

What are you reading?

message 547: by Kamas (new)

Kamas Kirian (kamas716) | 928 comments I have to work all weekend. Three days without supervision, YAY! I'm hoping to finish the two books I'm reading now, maybe even the one I abandoned a couple of months ago and still carry around in my backpack.

Also hoping to take in the Indy 500.
