It's time to nominate our March group read in the the theme of Post-Apocalyptic Fiction. Wikipedia defines Post-Apocalyptic as fiction set in a world after a catastrophic/global disaster. You are welcome to nominate a book with some degree of action/adventure content that also fits the post-apocalyptic theme and the following guidelines.

Considerations:

1. One nomination per group member. The books must be nominated with a Goodreads link by clicking on 'add book/author'. If a book does not have a Goodreads link, it will not be added to the poll.
2. Books need to be readily available, ie, in print (able to buy new or in ebook format).
3. Books should have some degree of action/adventure content.
4. Past group reads are not eligible to be nominated again. The past group discussions remain open for members to comment. You may see the list of past reads here:

https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...

5. Books must be either standalone or first in a series (or they may be later in a series if constructed to be read as a standalone).

The poll will go up on February 8th.

Okay this is one of my all time favorite books. Now up front, there was an unfortunate attempt at making it a movie. Don't let that put you off. As often happens the movie does nothing like justice to the book.

I'll nominate:
The Postman, The Postman by David Brin

Jim (jimmaclachlan) I'll nominate Way of the Wolf by E.E. Knight. It's called the Vampire Earth series, but there aren't Stoker type vampires. Earth has been invaded & there are aliens that can feed on us, but mostly want our resources & us as a resource. It's a great series & this is the first book.

I actually enjoyed the movie...you can't go wrong with Kevin Costner in my mind!

Well I'll give him this, he tried to follow the story. It just ended up dragging too much. The book is (if I may use the word) infinitely better.

Really.

:)

The Purge of Babylon also comes as a 1-3 set (for the price of one) both as audiobook (Audible.com), kindle book, paperback, or hard copy.

I looked at the reviews of the Audible edition and they were mixed. I'm a little concerned about the narrator...but I think the 3 in 1 deal may swing me.

I will concede that I did not think this narrator was "great".. Be managed the story okay... Certainly not the worst I've heard.

LOL, will keep that in mind next time. I thought midnight was at the end of the day. I posted that note on feb 26th at 9:30 pm, but then I didn't know what time zone you were in. Will just make sure I am earlier next time.
