I agree, my book is mostly red with a bit of gold and Jo-Jo's is the opposite so if mine is fine than so should hers.

Both of them look good to me. I was toying with The Great book of AmberThe Great Book of Amber
but you can't even tell that the framing of the front cover is all scarlet and gold.
So I'm going with The Girl Who Circumnavigated Fairyland...
The Girl Who Circumnavigated Fairyland in a Ship of Her Own Making
One of us is already reading it. Is it ok for 2 of us to read it? It's on my TBR pile and I'm next in line at the library.
Are we done with the previous stop?
I think we are finished with Stop 3, I'm going to go ahead and send the message to the moderator letting her know that we've completed Stop 3, that way we can start on Stop 4.
Would you guys consider this a scarlet/gold cover? Not as obviously one or the other but mainly is those 2 colors.
We are all checked in for Stop 3, and so far we've earned 135 points.50 points - Stop 1
50 points - Stop 2
35 points - Stop 3

"Jacki, I would definitely count it as Scarlet and Gold...That's my opinion. =)
How do the rest of you feel?
That definitely works in my opinion!I just found this book that I think might work, in case anyone needs a rec:
Talon by Julie Kagawa
Hey all!Exciting to be on stop 4! I just finished reading The Martian. Do you guys think this counts?
I'm currently reading a book that the version i have is a good cover and the most recent one is red. Go figure. Haha
Completion PostBook: Flamecaster by Cinda Williams Chima
Finished: 4/17/2016
Rating: 4 / 5
Task: Scarlet/Gold cover; Stop 4
Completion Post - stop 4:Book:
The Girl Who Circumnavigated Fairyland in a Ship of Her Own Making by Catherynne M. ValenteDate read: 16/04/16
Rating: 2 stars
Task: scarlet/gold cover
Completion Post
The Rosie Project by Graeme Smith
Finished: 4/21/2016
Task: Scarlet/Gold cover - Stop #4
So I haven't heard...is "The Martian" acceptable as scarlet and gold? Or should I look for another book?
Depends what edition - the one it defaults too appears to be golden coloured at the top and morphs into a red then a bit of black at the bottom. That works for me :)

Sally I think you were being generous with your 2 stars. I think I need to make notes of where I read about or was recommended a book because I know someone told me this was a cute quick read -at least it was quick. There were a few clever things in it and I did have a lot of commuting time this week. I guess I'm disappointed because it is an interesting title like
The 13½ Lives of Captain Bluebear
or
The Hollow Chocolate Bunnies of the Apocalypse
or
That Darn Squid God

LOL - That's my lowest score - I don't do one stars - but basically they are a DNF - and I needed to finish this as was my only red and gold cover!!!
I did enjoy The Hollow Chocolate Bunnies of the Apocalypse was an absolute cracker of a read - appealled to my warped sense of humour.
Tracking who has finished checkpoint 4: (We have until Thursday 5th May - That's 1 more week)Jo-Jo - Uprooted by Naomi Novik - post 285

Thought I'd repost the tentative agenda with dates - so we can see where we're at and plan for the future!Tell me what you all think:
Read a book shelved (listed on the first page of the "top shelves" of the book) as trilogy - plurals and minor spelling variations are acceptable
2. Port of Spain (TT) – Leon [Nicaragua](ES) – DETOUR – read by 22nd March (1st March - 22nd March)
Read a book with a child on the cover
3. Leon (ES) - Kemi/Tornio [Finland] (FI) – Read by 14th April (23rd March – 14th April)

I'm going to spend a bit more time choosing my book for the next stop. I really liked her In the Night Garden so I was pretty disappointed in this first book of a series. Who was her target audience? I doubt YA. While the verbiage was quite impressive, the storyline/plot/action was not.Erika - your book can still count as one for the challenge if you want. If I'm reading the rules correctly.
DETOURS
◈ Completing a detour earns the team 25 points AND
◈ If at least 7 members of the team read a book for the detour, that is an additional 15 points AND
◈ If ALL team members read a book for the time you are at the stop, that is an additional 10 points
Already have my book picked for our next stop; the sequel to the book I just read since they live in NYC in this one
The Rosie Effect
I think the author is also Australian so, double works! haha

I read that recently - I loved it!!

Jacki* wrote: "Hey Sally - on our completion post for checkpoint 4 - post 262 (Flamecaster) was my completion post :)"All fixed - sorry I muddled it with Jo-Jo's post - she just said she was GOING to read the same book :)
I've been struggling to find a book that has a scarlet and gold cover!! argh! I found
on my shelf. Only problem I didn't really read the first book cause i watched the movie before. So i figure what i'll do is re-watch the movie and then start reading it. Hopefully i can finish it before Thursday. Fingers crossed!
0possum wrote: "I'm going to spend a bit more time choosing my book for the next stop. I really liked her In the Night Garden so I was pretty disappointed in this first book of a series. Who was her ..."Opossum if this so then we've missed out some points for books i've read that weren't for the challenges! I've read
while we've been at this stop.Is it too late to add books that we read during past stops?
Jodie wrote: "I've been struggling to find a book that has a scarlet and gold cover!! argh! I found

Oh wait! I already did finish one during this post! Lucifer's Rogue by Colleen Gleason completed on 4/22/16
Sally906 wrote: "Tally wrote: "Already have my book picked for our next stop; the sequel to the book I just read since they live in NYC in this one..."Yay! I can't wait to read it, I hear they have a baby in this one and Im so excited to see how Don handles that LOL
I can't get myself into
. I think i'm going to try with this one instead
. Why do i think i feel a reading slump coming on??!!
If you want a nice fluffy scarlet & amber -Mercedes Lackey is a very easy read.
It might avert your slump if you pick something sort of fluffy -or it might make it worse. I've never figured out reading slumps. No apparent cause and then poof they're gone again and I'm back to forgetting the chicken is under the broiler...apparently I don't smell burning chicken when I'm at a critical point in a book.
Jodie wrote: "I can't get myself into

. Why do i think i feel a reading slu..."Jodie - It took me THREE times to get into The Girl Who Played with Fire- but it was SO worth it. That being said, The Throne of Glass series is one of my favorites ever!
You have two of my favorite books there :)
Jacki* wrote: "Jodie wrote: "I can't get myself into

I had already finished one book during this stop, Dark Rogue by Colleen Gleason. I finished another on the plane this morning, Let Me Go by L L Akers. Neither had the crimson and gold cover.
OK - well 7 of us have finished - so this section can be posted as completed if we want - then we can start on the next stage. Or we can wait for Erika. This is where we're at:
Jo-Jo - Uprooted by Naomi Novik - post 285

Let Me Go by L L Akers (Grey and red cover)
Erika wrote: "Previously there was a discussion that if I'd read something it could still count as everyone reading. As previously stated, I have completed two books during this stop:Lucifer's Rogue by Colleen..."
Sorry I missed that post - I just read ... Neither had the crimson and gold cover... and thought you were just sharing what you were reading :)

Completion Post - Stop 5Book:
Lady of Devices by Shelley AdinaDate read: 16/05/16
Rating: 3 stars
Task: Read a book where a character lives in a city
How it fits: Is set in the city of London in England
Oh, I think we do still get 50 points for the stop. It does say that if 7 of us Read a book for the task we get 15 bonus points, and if every member reads a book (doesn't say for the task) we get 10 more points. =) I didn't catch that before, but it does seem like that is what it means. Nice job catching that Opossum!
Thanks for checking us in Sally!
