which will make 13th April for end of round 3!!
On a purely selfish line of thought here - it means I can go away on holidays (25th march to 13th April) and not hold up events :)

Japan was awesome! :D Went to see my hs friends working over there. Might move there myself in a year or two.

Tell me what you all think:
Read a book shelved (listed on the first page of the "top shelves" of the book) as trilogy - plurals and minor spelling variations are acceptable
2. Port of Spain (TT) – Leon [Nicaragua](ES) – DETOUR – read by 22nd March (1st March - 22nd March)
Read a book with a child on the cover
3. Leon (ES) - Kemi/Tornio [Finland] (FI) – Read by 14th April (23rd March – 14th April)
Spell out Kemi/Tornio
4. Kemi/Tornio (FI) – Shymkent [Kazakhstan](KZ) – read by 5th May (15th April – 5th May)
Read a book with a scarlet and gold cover
5. Shymkent (KZ) - Hervey Bay [Australia] (AU)- DETOUR – Read by 27th May (6th May – 27th May)
Read a book where a character lives in a city
6. Hervey Bay (AU) - Kona [USA – Hawaii] (US) – read by 18th June (28th May – 18th June)
Book set in the USA or written by American Author
7. Kona (US) - Valdivia [Chili](CL) – read by 10th July (19th June – 10th July)
Doing a spell it out here
8. Valdivia (CL) - St Croix Island [Virgin Islands](VI) - DETOUR – Read by 1st August (11th July – 1st August)
Read a book where a character's first name starts with the letter D

I started my book with a child. Hopefully, it is good!

My book will be changing - I ended up reading Lolita before we moved on to the next stop. I have nothing on hand but will read something before the end date :)

That was one of my top reads the year it came out - have just read the final one in the series

Glad to hear you'll have it over and done with since it's not your favorite. I hate when I have a book that drags on because I just don't care for it.

Is very different to the others, was my least liked as well - the second least like was the The Magician's Nephew - all that jumping in and out of ponds was weird!! LOL!!!
My favourite was actually The Silver Chair

Stage 3 is Travelling from Leon (Nicaragua) to Kemi/Tornio [Finland] (FI) – Read by 14th April (23rd March – 14th April)
We are doing a spell it out here. So the choices are:
FINLAND - 7 letters
NICARAGUA - 9 letters
LEON - 4 letters
KEMI - 4 letters
There are 8 of us so we can read:
Finland and one person stays out, or
Nicaragua and one person reads 2 (bags not me reads 2 - LOL) or
there is both Leon and Kemi that add up to 8 so we could all take one letter.
What do you think?

So-- Isn't the Leon we are heading to in Spain? I'm happy to read one or two books and I have plenty of books with all those letters involved.

Stage 3 is Travelling from Leon (Nicarag..."
I also started planning which book I can contribute to this spell it out; got several options so far. I was originally thinking we'd spell out KEMI/TORNIO but that's 10 letters and two people would have to read 2 books so I'm not sure if we'd want to do that.

I have books that will cover M (Miracle In March and Manners & Mutiny) and also I (Invaded) which I am packing to take with me - so one of them would be perfect.
Actually the 'I' one would work for a few of the words :)

I'm not sure if we are supposed to use the place we've just left when doing the spell-it-out, I was thinking we were only supposed to use the place we've traveled to for that stop...so I didn't think we could use LEON since it's where we were the stop before.
I want to see what letters everyone else is going to grab before looking for books for it, that way I can try to take some of the "not wanted/rejected" letters to make it easier on you all.

Well that sounds like a plan - If I could bags an 'I' and I will read

Does that sound OK? Me taking the I?

I finished reading The Book Thief. Really good, but not likely one I'll read again.
I'm fine with letters. I was planning on reading Legend by Maria Lu, next if that works. Otherwise, I am more than happy to help with another book.

I was planning on reading

Every Last Word by Tamara Ireland Stone if it's okay for me to take the "E"?
Otherwise I can read

Red Queen for the "R".

Spell-it-out rules
Using the first letter in the book’s title, the first letter of the series name, the first letter in the author’s first or last name, or the first letter of a character’s first, last, or nick-name, or the first letter in the audiobook narrators first or last name.
If you are reading a translated version, you can also use the first letter of the translator's first or last name.
As always, if the first letter of a title starts with ‘A’, ‘An’, ‘The’, etc., you may use the first letter of the second word in the title to spell out your chosen word.
So, we have
Kemi/Tornio
K
E Tally Every Last Word by Tamara Ireland Stone
M Lory Legend by Maria Lu
I Sally Invaded by Melissa Landers
T
O Possum On Fire's Wings Christie Golden
R Possum Redshirts John Scalzi
N
I
O
I can read 2 so I put 2 down for O & R but with the rules I think I have a book ready to be read for just about any letter we are missing
Sally, where are you heading off to?

I am flying half way around the world (yes with a book or 4) from Australia to Europe - joining a river cruise at Amsterdam and then a 15 day cruise to Budapest. Then we fly back home :)

If anyone has The Three Body Problem on their tbr list it's translated by Ken Liu so that could count as K. I just noticed that and it's been sitting right here in front of me.

Oh, wow! That sounds amazing. I hope you have a lovely vacation and enjoy seeing all the sights.

Plenty of time - have 5 physical books and then my kindle and kobo apps on my iPad with another 300 odd books on them - so should cope.
