Wooo Team Around the World With a Book! :) Finally started my trilogy book,
shouldn't take long to finish.
And I'm starting my book now. Will post a completion post when finished. It says in the rules that we have to spend at least 7 days at each stop.
Once we all are able to finish then we proceed by sending a message of our points total to the NBRC Travel Agent and then move on to the next stop.
Glad to have our team officially named! =)
Hope to finish my book this weekend! Reading - It's Not Summer Without You. Finding a book for this detour was actually tricky! Apparently I've already read waaaaaaaaay too many trilogies :D

Ack. I was attempting to figure out how to link my book choices and I lost my message and for some reason ended up at a Harry Potter page. So for a brief note (that I am going to copy so I can paste back if my next attempt fails.) I have 3 ebooks from the library that fit our detour. I gave up on InkSpell. I don't know if it had been too long since I read the first or I simply didn't like the first that much. It was all at least 15 years ago. So that book is back on my sons shelf and I have started Ashes by Ilsa J. Bick. It says in the help that well formed web urls get automatically turned into links so we will see if this is well formed:

It seems as though most of the books with trilogy in the top shelf are young adult or dystopian.

Yup, I noticed that too. The one I'm reading is both YA and dystopian haha
Completion Post
Shiver by Maggie Stiefvater
Date read:2/7/2016
Rating:4 stars
Task: Stop 1 Detour: Read a book shelved (listed on the first page of the "top shelves" of the book) as trilogy
Task 1 CompletedAbandon
I finally picked one and finished as well. Like Jacki, I have read too many trilogies -or at least the good ones ones shelved as such. So I found several, tried and discarded them. I ended up with Abandon. It's not dystopian but it is YA. Meg Cabot is generally readable. It's a light book with an interesting premise based on the Persephone myth. It took me longer to find a readily available book than it did to read it...
Good job finding one! It was more difficult for me to find one that I wanted to read that was actually shelved as trilogy on the first page of Top Shelves. There are a lot of trilogies that just aren't on a shelf named trilogy which was where I was running into trouble at first. I actually enjoyed Shiver...wasn't sure what to expect from it but I liked the characters, the story, and the way it was written. It was a quick read that kept my attention. I'm looking forward to the next book in the series.

Think I may need to re-read to finish the trilogy :)
I read Raven Boys several years ago. I remember it being pretty good. I'm looking forward to landing in Spain. I think that reading a Spanish author, a book based in Spain or a child on the cover should all be easier than finding a trilogy but then again I really had no idea it would be so hard to find a book for this current detour. I was (almost seriously) thinking about getting our whole group to create trilogy shelves and we could all add each others choices to our shelf and perhaps get some more options on that first page of top shelves.
I haven't started my Trilogy book yet - am half way through one and then when it's finished
Library of Souls by Ransom Riggs - is up!
OMG it is so hard to find a book from a trilogy that actually has "trilogy" in top shelves. My goodness! Queen of a Tearling had to be returned before I got too far into it so I dug through the shelves and found one that has that listed. annnnd its a salacious romance novel so it should be a fairly quick read :)

I think it would just be sufficient to say read a book that is part of a trilogy - forget what it is shelved at - but sadly that's not what the rules say so that's what I did :(
My book only 12 people have shelved it as a trilogy - I thank those 12 people from the bottom of my heart :)
***sigh***

I still haven't made it to book 2 in that series yet though. =) Too many challenges that call for other types of books to be read.
I know what you mean Sally. I started a "trilogy" shelf since we had it as a Detour. I've already added 3 books to it that weren't shelved as trilogy at all that I could see, even though they are trilogies. ugh. Maybe it will help other people in the future. One of them only needed to have one person put it on a "trilogy" shelf in order for it to be on the "first page of top shelves"...so hoping it makes a difference for someone. I'm going to put any trilogy books I find from now on right on that shelf. I haven't made a bunch of different shelves on here yet but I'm thinking about making some for Cover Colors, different items on covers, etc.
Ugh the one I was going to read is just terrible! Starting Inkheart today but I don't believe its shelved as trilogy.
Erika wrote: "Ugh the one I was going to read is just terrible! Starting Inkheart today but I don't believe its shelved as trilogy."Oh dear - I haven't read it but a few people have recommended it to me!!
I am loving my book - has the best opening line I've seen in a while:
The monster stood not a tongue’s length away, eyes fixed on our throats, shrivelled brain crowded with fantasies of murder.
Isn't that wonderful? I am reading
Library of Souls by Ransom Riggs
Task Completed
Matched by Ally Condie
Task: detour - Read a book shelved (listed on the first page of the "top shelves" of the book) as trilogy
Finally finished!! Actually liked this more than I thought I would.
Anyone keeping track of our points btw?

Finally done :)Completion Post
Book: It's Not Summer Without You by Jenny Han
Task: Detour for first stop - Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago. Read a book shelved (listed on the first page of the "top shelves" of the book) as trilogy.
Finished: 2/11/2016
Would it count if trilogy is one the second page of the Top Shelves and right at the tippy top of it? Cause Inkheart has it there.
I noticed that -It's why I started Inkspell instead of re-reading (after 15 years or so) Inkheart. I think I would have finished Inkheart instead I tried to read Inkspell then abandoned it then had to search out another trilogy book. Is it cheating if we can bump it to the first page by shelving it on our own shelves as a trilogy? How many is it off from the first page? Does it have the same number of shelves as some do on the first page? I'm not very good at this shelf stuff. I think a few years ago I started clicking on books I'd read and then on books I wanted to read but that's as far as I got. Of course if you want to read Inkspell anyway then there's really no problem. It might be easier if Inkheart is fresh.
Lory: I'm on the waiting list for Red Rising at the library. Are you going to continue the series? It looks pretty good.
I liked it although it was pretty intense, war, destruction. etc. I am not sure if I will continue, but most likely I will. I may need a break for lighter (happier) reading before then.
Just gathering all the info together! :)Task: Stop 1 Detour: Read a book shelved (listed on the first page of the "top shelves" of the book) as trilogy
• A detour requires at least 4 members of the team to complete that goal before the detour is considered complete.

Erika wrote: "Would it count if trilogy is one the second page of the Top Shelves and right at the tippy top of it? I'm going to shoot Jodie a message and see if she forgot about the challenge. I hadn't realized we had someone who hadn't checked in yet.
Joanne wrote: "I'm going to shoot Jodie a message and see if she forgot about the challenge. I hadn't realized we had someone who hadn't checked in yet."Two - Mal as well
Though I could have sworn there was a post - but couldn't see one.
Sally906 wrote: "Hang on - Mal is Lory - duh Sally. Lol"Yep, for a second I was like, hang on, who's Mal? Then I remembered as well. =) I sent Jodie a message so hopefully we'll hear from her soon.
CoolWhen do we move on to the next stage? I know Erika hasn't finished yet - is there a time limit? Or just no quicker than 7 days?
I added Inkheart to trilogy as well and it's on the first page!! So If I read the instructions correctly and we have 7 of us reading the detour trilogy we have 40 points. If Jodi has/is either reading a trilogy or completed a book of any sort -not necessarily a trilogy, it counts for a total of 50 points. Sally- it seems as though we can stay here for any amount of time longer than a week. The only time requirement is at least a week.
Sorry guys for the name change! I was hoping it would change automatically! I always wanted Lory as a nickname so I thought here would be a good place to start (full name Mallory) . I'm excited for the next stop kn our world tour!
Hello!!! So sorry for the late check in! I completely forgot that the challenge started! Thanks Jo-Ann for the email! I'm here and ready to get at it. What goal are we working on at the moment?
Hi Jodie! We are still at the first stop. We decided to do the detour for this stop. For this, everyone needs to read a book with 'trilogy' or some minor variation on the first page of shelves. Some helpful links were posted earlier!
Ok i just finished reading
(not for task on feb 12 2016). It's not part of a trilogy though. But I think from what I understand any book i read during the challenge will count for points right?
*edit* oh i finished
on feb 5 2016, so that should count for the trilogy task.

Yep! Trilogy is on the first page of shelves :) Awesome!
Sally, we can stay at a stop as long as we want, but we MUST stay for at least 7 days no matter what. =)
In order for us to get the maximum point amount I'm pretty sure that all team members have to complete the task. So, for the maximum amount of detour points, we all need to read the Detour task. And for the maximum amount of points for the regular task, we would all need to read the task. I think that is how I read the rules at least, if I'm not mistaken.
