Sally906 | 1765 comments SO - do we want to do the detour - read a book were MC is a Virgin?

And as today's the last day we will start the next read tomorrow - 12th and finish by 3rd December?

Am I being to bossy? LOL

message 553: by 0possum (new)

0possum I have no problem with you attempting to keep us organized. And Im all for the detour. It's too bad Im not terribly fond of Jane Austin. I'm thinking a classic would work here. Ill have to see what i can find..

message 554: by Sally906 (new)

Sally906 | 1765 comments I'm reading a fairy tale retelling. Innocent little beauty and the big bad beast

message 555: by Tally (new)

Tally (tallyrrn) I agree, no problem at all with you keeping us organized. It's a great help! Thank you so much Sally :)

I'm fine with the detour as well. Will decide a book tonight.

I think Jane Eyre would probably work, if you prefer a Bronte sister over Austen

message 557: by Erika (new)

Erika Crap today is the 10th! Will Raven work? I can attempt
to finish it tonight.

message 558: by Sally906 (new)

Sally906 | 1765 comments Yep it can be a title - author or character starting with R

message 561: by Lory (new)

Lory | 629 comments I'm in the middle of another Harry Potter binge. That works for the detour, as long as rereads are allowed. Otherwise, I'm sure I'll find something!

message 562: by Erika (new)

Erika Hmmmm would fantastic beasts count? Im not sure its known if anyone is or is not virginal

If not, i'll grab the next in Narnia, that should work

0possum Complete Among Others I really enjoyed it. She's a hit or miss author for me.

message 567: by Erika (new)

Erika So i read both Fantastic Beasts, which is essentially just a list of beast characteristics and Quidditch Through the Years but I don't know that either of those count. If they do, then, completed.

Currently reading Afterworlds by Scott Westerfield which would count as well

Jodie (anntsy) | 223 comments Any news on the next stop?

message 575: by Tally (new)

Tally (tallyrrn) Welp guess we all got caught up in the holidays! So next stop is

5. Kozhikode (IN) - Wenzhou (CN) - India to China
detour: Read a book with an X on the cover

We could either spell out (Wenzhou = 1 person reads double, Kozhikode = 3 people read double) and I think we should spell out the Chinese city in that case, we could all read books from Chinese authors, or do the detour again.

I think spell it out would be easiest and I can read two books no problem; bought myself a bunch of books for Xmas lol

What do you all think? Is everyone done with the 4th Stop?

I am currently reading The Alchemyst which unfortunately doesn't work for any of the letters.

I will see what else I can find for the other letters. I am willing to search and take the leftover.] letter.

message 580: by Sally906 (new)

Sally906 | 1765 comments After this we have 4 detours - but some of them are pretty yuk

Yeah the detours for 7 & 8 seem hard. 6 might be okay. We could all read Mrs. Dalloway lol

message 588: by 0possum (new)

0possum I almost completed Numbers in the Dark. After I read Tally's message I decided that I would read The End of Mr. Y 2nd -just in case someone else wants to take an E book. That way I'll be ready with my Detour for 6 book if we choose to do that or I can go ahead and read it if E is still available.

message 590: by Sally906 (new)

Sally906 | 1765 comments I will finish my book over the weekend - am really enjoying A Zoo in My Luggage - is a re-read but set in West Africa - an area I am familier with

message 591: by 0possum (new)

0possum Completed: Numbers in the Dark

I feel like if I took some acid or mushrooms and sat in a cafe these stories would be what was going on in my brain. This is your brain on drugs... Not that he was on them while writing them -it's the reading process that's terribly foggy. He's writing about mundane stuff in an disassociative, sideways manner.

Oh OK - That was back in Mid-December I thought you may have found something by now :)

No Biggie - has anyone else read anything that fits criteria E?

None of my current reads do - and none of the 6 books I have read so far this year do either.

Opossum you still got The End of Mr. Y in your sights?

message 597: by 0possum (new)

0possum Reading it now -I should be done by tomorrow night.

0possum just trying to detox from Calvino I felt like I was walking around without my glasses after reading those stories. This is a much easier read.
