Martin Link will be doing a readalong and q&a in February for his book, Misdirection. I hear that some members already have the book and believe it's just been on a promotional offer. Though I note it's available fairly cheaply now. Check the book out, see if it's your thing and hopefully this will be another successful readalong. I think it's always great to have access to authors to see what makes them tick!! :)

Please do join in.

MELISSIA LENOX (love_melissialenox) | 9 comments I intend to read misdirection in advance if your q&a, have you set a date or is it as we go along throughout February?

No date. Just ask questions/discuss throughout February.

Sophia Hi Martin, very exciting that you're doing a read along. I loved reading this (as you know - http://thebookonmydesk.uk/post/Martin...). When can we expect the next one?! If anyone does read my review I'd be interested to know if they agree with my thoughts on how you wrote about Norton's marriage, or if my mere 4 years of marriage make me naive! Thoughts anyone?

Dave Edlund (dedlund) | 44 comments Okay, I'll jump in with a question for Martin. Just started reading Misdirection and am thoroughly enjoying it--especially the British dialog (don't get a lot of that here). I'm also finding the first person POV refreshing. Here's my question: at the end of chapter one, you refer to 7/7, presumably a date important in the UK for reason similar to why 9/11 is important here. But I can't place the event--would you help me?

Perri | -43 comments Just started and I echo Dave's comment on the very British-ness of the story. For US readers, the Hockey Cokey is the UK equivalent of the Hokey Pockey. I have to admit I think the UK version is superior-knees bent, arms stretched rah rah rah! So, Martin, the description with the dental implant hits a bit close to home for me. Have you had an experience with weak anesthesia to draw from :P
Also, who are Ann and Todd and who is on the list you are afraid to name in your dedication?

Thank you for the link. Yes, I do remember this. Absolutely terrible.

Perri | -43 comments Nice interview, Martin. Do you get nervous on air and how would you feel about TV ?

The characters are travelling now in New York-have you ever been or to other places in the U.S.? Any places you would like to visit?

Martin, had to start another book, as I did not have your book, obtained a free copy on Saturday, and will start after I finish my book I am on now.

Gopal (gopaliyer) | 482 comments Hi Martin,

Just finished reading Misdirection in 1 go. I liked the read, it was entertaining. The cat and mouse game was exceptionally well planned.

How practical do you think such a caper is in real life?

Sure Martin, I do maintain a blog Gopal's BookShelf where I blog my experiences with the books that I have read. I also put my review in GoodReads and yes I can put it in Amazon as well for you.

Kampai...

Thank You Martin Link for the Q&A for February 2016 BOTM.

Martin Link has put together a really strong story. It has a good pace to it with interesting plot turns and fascinating insight to intelligence operations and technology, and I am sure will get stronger with each instalment.

A quick read, only a short book at 164 pages, keeps at a nice pace throughout, how realistic I am not too sure.

But interesting lead characters that I am sure will grow as we get to know them better.

One question, was it me only? or was coffee mentioned a lot, and meals mentioned a lot !

But really a 3.5 read for me

Hi Martin,

I have put up the review for Misdirection both on my blog and on Amazon. Feel free to comment on either places.

Perri | -43 comments The lack of realism didn't really bother me, it seemed like an action thriller that requires the readers to suspend belief, like James Bond movie. And like a JB movie I didn't really get what was going on, so just relaxed and enjoyed the show.

Not all Martin!!! Share away!!! I am looking forward to an improved Lucas Norton 2.

BTW 1 question, wassup between Lucas and his wife? (view spoiler)

I never could understand that.

Kirsten (kmcripn) I finished yesterday. I really enjoyed the book, Martin, and can't wait to read the next book.

I thought it had a great pace and the computer stuff wasn't too in depth. I was amused at the calculator scene, though. Wonder how that tech did that? Do people still have calculators? Would that have worked the same with a calculator app on your phone? Or would you have needed a TI?

My review (for what it's worth): https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
