In "The Giver", families sit around the dinner table in the evening and TALK ABOUT THEIR FEELINGS. Very disturbing......

Anna It is not that bad. I think that maybe the author was trying to make it very utopian and that is her perspective on utopian.

Juniper_07 It is a bit unfamiliar, but I think she wanted to see the world like it could be in the future, like an utopia yes... That people express their feelings and can be better controlled.

Rico I don't think this book is disturbing. How can it be disturbing anyway?

Izzy I don't think it's disturbing. I just think that it's different, and that, yeah it was kind of weird not to have feelings, but that's just that kind of world.

Afke Huldrike You could see it as disturbing, but it was a whole different world. When I look to other cultures I sometimes think they have disturbing traditions, but it's just different. When you live in that world you would think it was normal.

Saskya So Holly, you don't ever talk about your feelings with your family...I know I do.
