I learned so much about these men. Not just about the beginning of aeronautics, but about the men themselves. It is very interesting to understand the kind of people that have made such great strides in our world. (hide spoiler)]

Part III and Epilogue

(view spoiler)[ In addition to learning about the personal lives of the brothers and the rest of their family, the one thing I learned the most about and that was most new to me, was about aviation itself. Growing up it was all The Wright Brothers and Lindbergh with, maybe, Amelia Earhart thrown in. This book showed me how many people were also involved in those very early days with the hunt for powered flight. It was amazing to me that within 5 years of their accomplishment, pilots like Curtiss and the various Frenchmen were already in a position to hold high speed air races with monetary prizes. (view spoiler)[ I don't know, Teri. Logic would say yes but the Wright bros. came along out of nowhere and solved it and they had not been long time aviasionists beforehand. I think it took someone who could think about the problem in a completely different way, not necessarily someone who was experienced in the air. (hide spoiler)]

I'm currently watching "Cavalcade" from 1933, and there is a scene in which the characters are sitting on the beach just when Bleriot crosses the Channel in 1909. :)

I don't know. Bentley had the list out originally through February and then has been out for medical issues. I expect to get an update soon, so we may have an abbreviated March or start again in April.

These BOM selections have been very popular and well received, so I hope we keep them going.

I enjoy them too. This is the first one that I've done where I actually read the book concurrent with the group and I really like it that way. The others I followed I had read the book about a year before and it's more fun when you are reading along. Teri, you do a really great job with these. I have had a good time!
