K.A. Krisko (kakrisko) | 1297 comments Yeah, that's pretty weird.

On a not-as-weird level, today I was spreading mustard on a sandwich in the kitchen when someone on the TV announced, "I like mustard!"

I know. That's what's so weird about it. Its not like it's OUR song or anything. I don't know why I thought of it.

The only song I can even remember dancing with my husband is Through the Years by Kenny Rogers. I picked it out to dance to at our 30th anniversary celebration. I think I will go turn on the radio and see if that one comes on.

I know you guys are not going to believe me but seriously, I just got in my car to run to the store and Through The Years was on the radio.

K.A. Krisko (kakrisko) | 1297 comments What radio station are you listening to? What's the genre?

message 356: by Fishface (new)

Fishface | 18925 comments The genre of "Through The Years" and "After The Loving" is pillow-talk pop.

message 357: by K.A. (new)

K.A. Krisko (kakrisko) | 1297 comments I don't think I've ever heard of that particular genre.

In the car I was listening to Prime Country, which is 90's country, the golden age of country as far as I am concerned. In the house we picked a local station that plays a lot of older country. After The Loving we listened to YouTube.

Koren (koren56) | 1604 comments Yesterday I started reading Cloris: My Autobiography, the autobiography of Cloris Leachman. Only got 30 pages read due to having family all day. Today is a cold, rainy day so I have spent most of the day trying to finish the book. Cloris didn't mention her birth date in her book except to say it was in April 1926. A few minutes ago I saw on Facebook that today is her 91st birthday.

Fishface | 18925 comments Happy birthday, Frau Blucher!

Fishface | 18925 comments Today I asked Barri Flowers about his book on Don Miller. I got in the car to go to a home visit, turned on the radio and heard the NPR announcer saying that the keynote speaker for some sort of upcoming event was named Don Miller...Not the one I'm thinking of, with any luck:

Fishface | 18925 comments OK, this is really unlikely. This morning I was in a bit of a discussion about Obediah Marsh, the head of the Innsmouth dynasty of fish people you'll remember from H.P. Lovecraft's stories. So I went from there to a training in Lansing, and my co-worker and I were sort of giggling about this really cute pair of twin toddlers, a boy and a girl, walking ahead of us with their dad. To my astonishment, the dad called his son by name: "Come this way, Obediah," he said, and as my jaw started to drop the little boy turned and looked at me with this conspiratorial grin like nothing you've ever seen on the face of a child almost too young to walk straight. It was positively eerie.

K.A. Krisko (kakrisko) | 1297 comments Was the little girl's name Marsha?

message 364: by Fishface (new)

Fishface | 18925 comments He didn't mention her name, alas.

Fishface | 18925 comments There was a little coincidence yesterday when I set aside my copy of Amityville: House of Lies to watch RINGS, rented on the trip home from work. The book was on a chapter analyzing what George Lutz said about the supposed demonic possession of 112 Ocean Avenue. I forgot all about what I'd been reading because RINGS was such a good movie.

Well, today, when I pulled the movie up at IMDB to get details for my review at another message board, I discovered that the female lead was played by Matilda Lutz. Not a name I see every day.

Fishface | 18925 comments There was an enormous coincidence this week, too. I was at a 2-day training for work and was transfixed by one of the other trainees. She bore an uncanny resemblance to Kelly W., my best friend from undergrad. And I mean uncanny. This woman looked more like my Kelly than any of her sisters do. I couldn't take my eyes off her -- even more so because my friend died a few years ago and it was just so good to see her face again.

And today I went to my PO Box and what was in there but a postcard from my Kelly's mother announcing an art festival in New England that I can't possibly attend. I have not heard from her mom since I had my last phone conversation with Kelly -- her mom answered and passed the phone to her. I can't believe that out of all the times she might have decided to contact me, she chose now. She must have mailed that postcard at the same time I was sitting there staring in astonishment at Kelly's double.

Another coincidence. The other day when I was reading the obits in the newspaper and saw a lady that was the aunt of my ex-husband. Her name was Florence Lutz. To make it even more eerier, she died at the Lutz Wing of the local hospital.

Just in case you don't believe me:
