Zeni Taubl | 308 comments Well we have the 35 points for the task, so I vote for tjat

message 152: by Plethora (new)

Plethora (bookworm_r) | 2239 comments It does seem to make sense to use the 35 point option over the 25 point one.

Daphne (daphnesm) | 937 comments I'm fine with whatever. :)

❤Stephanie ღ♥ღMrs Daryl Dixonღ♥ღ | 2613 comments Okay task it is.

So this week we have to either spell out Punta Arenas or read a book set in Australia or New Zealand.

message 155: by Andrea (new)

Andrea (deja05) | 732 comments I can contribute to either one. Whatever the majority of us chooses I'm good with!

❤Stephanie ღ♥ღMrs Daryl Dixonღ♥ღ | 2613 comments I think we are going to do what we did with stop 1, keep track of both the task and detour and then choose at the end which ever gives us the most points.

I've already gotten the Australian one done. :)

message 158: by Andrea (new)

Andrea (deja05) | 732 comments Ok I'll first find a book set in Australia or New Zealand then since that will be harder to find. So we have about a week for this?

❤Stephanie ღ♥ღMrs Daryl Dixonღ♥ღ | 2613 comments Yep, our second stop finished on the 17th, of course it can be prolonged if needed.

I'm already 60% finished with my Australian book, I'm really liking it so far.

What Australian book are you reading? I'm thinking of reading Stolen: A Letter to My Captor or Saving Francesca.

❤Stephanie ღ♥ღMrs Daryl Dixonღ♥ღ | 2613 comments I'm reading The Shearing Gun an MM romance, I have looked at it a couple of time because I like the author so I thought I would just give it a try plus it works for the goal.

message 162: by Daphne (new)

Daphne (daphnesm) | 937 comments I haven't read this one yet, but I've heard it's really powerful. Short too. :) If anyone is looking for an Australia/NZ book. Rabbit-Proof Fence: The True Story of One of the Greatest Escapes of All Time

message 163: by Daphne (new)

Daphne (daphnesm) | 937 comments Here are a couple listopia too for anyone that hasn't found a detour book yet. :)

Best Books Set in Australia

New Zealand

message 164: by Andrea (new)

Andrea (deja05) | 732 comments Thanks for the info! I haven't read that many books set in Australia but two that I really liked were Fall Girl by Toni Jordan and On the Jellicoe Road by Melina Marchetta .

❤Stephanie ღ♥ღMrs Daryl Dixonღ♥ღ | 2613 comments Okay, I finished my Australian book.

Daphne (daphnesm) | 937 comments Not sure if any are interested that don't already know about this group challenge starting up March 1st. It's in another group. It's UNO and you do compete against other teams. :) Sign-ups will still be open for another day or two I think. Here is the link: https://www.goodreads.com/topic/group...

❤Stephanie ღ♥ღMrs Daryl Dixonღ♥ღ | 2613 comments Okay so I went through everyone's books and we have spelled out Punta Arenas, now all we have to do is see if we can all get a book read each by either set in Australia or New Zealand by the 17th if not we will go with the spell it out option.

message 170: by Plethora (new)

Plethora (bookworm_r) | 2239 comments I don't think any of my upcoming books are set in Australia or New Zealand for this week.

message 171: by Kate S (new)

Kate S | 1998 comments I have finished and logged my Australia book.

I do not currently have anything tagged as Urban Fantasy, and it is not a genre I tend to read. I would love to have a few recommendations if anyone has any.

Not a genre I typically gravitate towards either, but I have heard good things about The Raven Boys.

message 173: by Kate S (new)

Kate S | 1998 comments Thanks, Bookworm, my library has an audio version I can download right now.

It's no problem.

None of my current books that I'm reading are set in Australia or New Zealand.

Are there five of the detours that you would be able to finish? Just want to check and see if we are going to be able to go for max points or not. I'd like to of course. That's what makes it a challenge. :)

message 178: by Plethora (last edited Feb 12, 2016 04:58AM) (new)

Plethora (bookworm_r) | 2239 comments I'll add some additional character names to my spreadsheet, I forgot we can use them in the spell-it version. That way we can use Salt to the Sea for a detour versus the spell-it this week. I won't get to until the weekend, as the spreadsheet doesn't like working from my mobile devices... Windows phone doesn't play well and since I'm not a fan of g**gle I don't have a login to make it friendlier so need to do from laptop.

message 179: by Zeni (new)

Zeni Taubl | 308 comments Stephanie you are amazing!

I'm working on a book set in Australia as well right now and will hopefully be done today or tomorrow.

Bookworm I have an android and can't seem to do anything with the spreadsheet, but look at it. I think it just doesn't like phones or I just can't figure it out.

daphne, I did a paranormal one on the last stop. Do you mean for this stop?

message 182: by Daphne (last edited Feb 12, 2016 05:17PM) (new)

Daphne (daphnesm) | 937 comments NancyMaire wrote: "daphne, I did a paranormal one on the last stop. Do you mean for this stop?"

The detour for the first stop was plane ride. This stop it is a book set in Australia/New Zealand. The detour has to match the stop, but we can save up books.

We all have to do five of the same detour goals to get max points, or we can agree not to bother and just do the spell it out options. If we skip this detour too then we are running out of options.

Besides the paranormal one, are there four other detours goals you are willing to work on?

❤Stephanie ღ♥ღMrs Daryl Dixonღ♥ღ | 2613 comments NancyMaire one of your book the Shadow Cabinet is not just paranormal it's also Urban Fantasy so that will work towards one of the goals if it hasn't been used before then.

message 184: by [deleted user] (new)

daphne, I will have to see what the book is set in so I'm not sure

message 186: by Zeni (new)

Zeni Taubl | 308 comments Yay! I finally finished my Australia book today! It's been a slow reading weekend, but I finally was able to sit down and finish it. I've updated the spreadsheet with it as well. I've got a book to read for the next detour, but I have one more from the library that I have to finish first.

So how is everyone's weekend going?

❤Stephanie ღ♥ღMrs Daryl Dixonღ♥ღ | 2613 comments Awesome Zeni. My weekend was good, just read and did stuff around the house.

Anyone else reading an Australian/New Zealand book?

❤Stephanie ღ♥ღMrs Daryl Dixonღ♥ღ | 2613 comments Okay guys so you have got till tomorrow before we move onto stop 3, so if anybody is reading a Australian/New Zealand book please let us know.

Cool. :)

I have my Urban Fantasy already completed and posted on our sheet if we decide to go for the detour for points.

❤Stephanie ღ♥ღMrs Daryl Dixonღ♥ღ | 2613 comments I already have an a Urban Fantasy as well, I just have make the other sheet for stop 3.

message 191: by Andrea (new)

Andrea (deja05) | 732 comments I'm reading a book set in Australia. I will finish it tonight.

message 192: by Plethora (new)

Plethora (bookworm_r) | 2239 comments I finally got my hands on a book set in Australia today. I'm trying to power through it, I've made it about 25% in this evening.

I don't know if we gain points waiting for me to finish it or just move on to next stop.

message 193: by Andrea (new)

Andrea (deja05) | 732 comments I've finished an Australia book Every Breath today. Also I finished These Vicious Masks a few days ago which can count towards the Paranormal detour if we do that one.

❤Stephanie ღ♥ღMrs Daryl Dixonღ♥ღ | 2613 comments With you and Andrea's book we still need 1 more person to get more points then if we went with the task, so I think we are going task this week.

Hopefully next stop will be a more easy detour since it's Urban Fantasy.

❤Stephanie ღ♥ღMrs Daryl Dixonღ♥ღ | 2613 comments Okay, we are at stop 3 now, so we are going to either spell out Portugal or read a book with the genre Urban Fantasy.

❤Stephanie ღ♥ღMrs Daryl Dixonღ♥ღ | 2613 comments Okay I went through everyone's books to see if they work for UF, and I found that 5 of us do.
So Bookworm, NancyMaire and Kate need a book that is UF and then we can get the max points for this stop.

message 197: by Michelle (new)

Michelle | 3594 comments I have 3 finished books I just added to the spreadsheet

Whippoorwill by Joseph Monninger The Witch's Daughter (The Witch's Daughter, #1) by Paula Brackston Push by Sapphire

Thank you again, Stephanie.

I am working on a UF book right now. I expect to have it finished tomorrow evening (~28-30 hours from time of posting).

❤Stephanie ღ♥ღMrs Daryl Dixonღ♥ღ | 2613 comments That's fine Kate, everyone has until the 26th to complete a book for stop 3.

Plethora (bookworm_r) | 2239 comments I plan on reading Cinder this week for UF. Good thing I didn't actually get to it last month finally ... ;)
