Okay task it is.So this week we have to either spell out Punta Arenas or read a book set in Australia or New Zealand.
I think we are going to do what we did with stop 1, keep track of both the task and detour and then choose at the end which ever gives us the most points.

I've already gotten the Australian one done. :)
Ok I'll first find a book set in Australia or New Zealand then since that will be harder to find. So we have about a week for this?
Yep, our second stop finished on the 17th, of course it can be prolonged if needed.I'm already 60% finished with my Australian book, I'm really liking it so far.

What Australian book are you reading? I'm thinking of reading Stolen: A Letter to My Captor or Saving Francesca.
I'm reading The Shearing Gun an MM romance, I have looked at it a couple of time because I like the author so I thought I would just give it a try plus it works for the goal.
I haven't read this one yet, but I've heard it's really powerful. Short too. :) If anyone is looking for an Australia/NZ book. Rabbit-Proof Fence: The True Story of One of the Greatest Escapes of All Time
Here are a couple listopia too for anyone that hasn't found a detour book yet. :)Best Books Set in Australia
New Zealand
Thanks for the info! I haven't read that many books set in Australia but two that I really liked were
and
.
Not sure if any are interested that don't already know about this group challenge starting up March 1st. It's in another group. It's UNO and you do compete against other teams. :) Sign-ups will still be open for another day or two I think. Here is the link: https://www.goodreads.com/topic/group...

Okay so I went through everyone's books and we have spelled out Punta Arenas, now all we have to do is see if we can all get a book read each by either set in Australia or New Zealand by the 17th if not we will go with the spell it out option.
I have finished and logged my Australia book.I do not currently have anything tagged as Urban Fantasy, and it is not a genre I tend to read. I would love to have a few recommendations if anyone has any.

Not a genre I typically gravitate towards either, but I have heard good things about The Raven Boys.

It's no problem.
None of my current books that I'm reading are set in Australia or New Zealand.
NancyMaire wrote: "None of my current books that I'm reading are set in Australia or New Zealand."Are there five of the detours that you would be able to finish? Just want to check and see if we are going to be able to go for max points or not. I'd like to of course. That's what makes it a challenge. :)
I'll add some additional character names to my spreadsheet, I forgot we can use them in the spell-it version. That way we can use Salt to the Sea for a detour versus the spell-it this week. I won't get to until the weekend, as the spreadsheet doesn't like working from my mobile devices... Windows phone doesn't play well and since I'm not a fan of g**gle I don't have a login to make it friendlier so need to do from laptop.
Stephanie you are amazing! I'm working on a book set in Australia as well right now and will hopefully be done today or tomorrow.
Bookworm I have an android and can't seem to do anything with the spreadsheet, but look at it. I think it just doesn't like phones or I just can't figure it out.

Storm Front by Jim Butcher
Skinwalker by Faith Hunter
daphne, I did a paranormal one on the last stop. Do you mean for this stop?
NancyMaire wrote: "daphne, I did a paranormal one on the last stop. Do you mean for this stop?"The detour for the first stop was plane ride. This stop it is a book set in Australia/New Zealand. The detour has to match the stop, but we can save up books.
We all have to do five of the same detour goals to get max points, or we can agree not to bother and just do the spell it out options. If we skip this detour too then we are running out of options.
Besides the paranormal one, are there four other detours goals you are willing to work on?
NancyMaire one of your book the Shadow Cabinet is not just paranormal it's also Urban Fantasy so that will work towards one of the goals if it hasn't been used before then.
daphne, I will have to see what the book is set in so I'm not sure

How it fits - Can probably be used in a spellout.
Yay! I finally finished my Australia book today! It's been a slow reading weekend, but I finally was able to sit down and finish it. I've updated the spreadsheet with it as well. I've got a book to read for the next detour, but I have one more from the library that I have to finish first. So how is everyone's weekend going?
Awesome Zeni. My weekend was good, just read and did stuff around the house.Anyone else reading an Australian/New Zealand book?
Okay guys so you have got till tomorrow before we move onto stop 3, so if anybody is reading a Australian/New Zealand book please let us know.
❤Stephanie ღ♥ღMrs Declan Chaseღ♥ღ wrote: "Okay guys so you have got till tomorrow before we move onto stop 3, so if anybody is reading a Australian/New Zealand book please let us know."Cool. :)
I have my Urban Fantasy already completed and posted on our sheet if we decide to go for the detour for points.
I finally got my hands on a book set in Australia today. I'm trying to power through it, I've made it about 25% in this evening. I don't know if we gain points waiting for me to finish it or just move on to next stop.
I've finished an Australia book Every Breath today. Also I finished These Vicious Masks a few days ago which can count towards the Paranormal detour if we do that one.
With you and Andrea's book we still need 1 more person to get more points then if we went with the task, so I think we are going task this week.Hopefully next stop will be a more easy detour since it's Urban Fantasy.
Okay, we are at stop 3 now, so we are going to either spell out Portugal or read a book with the genre Urban Fantasy.
Okay I went through everyone's books to see if they work for UF, and I found that 5 of us do. So Bookworm, NancyMaire and Kate need a book that is UF and then we can get the max points for this stop.

Thank you again, Stephanie.
I am working on a UF book right now. I expect to have it finished tomorrow evening (~28-30 hours from time of posting).
I plan on reading Cinder this week for UF. Good thing I didn't actually get to it last month finally ... ;)
