❤Stephanie ღ♥ღMrs Daryl Dixonღ♥ღ | 2613 comments Hey everyone our team has a question about one of our goals, Read the first book from a series that you're interested in one of my team members asked "how can we determine interest because sometimes I read a book to test out a series and see if I'm interested in it." I have to say I do the same thing, So even know we are still testing it out would you say we are still interested in it enough to want to test it out, so it would count?

I'd say that would count. After all, you have to be interested in seeing if you want to read a series if you're willing to test out the first book. If you knew or thought you wouldn't be interested, why would you read book one? ;-)

:-)

Amanda (daughterofoak) | 3473 comments My team has a goal "Read a book with the phrase 'gut feeling' in it".

I just finished a book and ran across the phrase "gut instinct". It's used the same way, i.e. "her gut instinct told her..."

What do you think? Can I use it?

I would vote yes!

Angie ☯ | 3102 comments I have a silly question.... ☺

Can anyone tell me how to get the pic of the flight path? The travel agent has posted it a couple of times...but I can't find the right website to duplicate it.

I know how to post the picture, if I can figure out how to get it! lol

thanks all!!

❀Tea❀ (ttea) | 9625 comments We usually just googled location and picked something pretty :)
Or at least I did :P

message 110: by Angie ☯ (new)

Angie ☯ | 3102 comments Hi Tea, I did that too for a location picture. But there was also a picture of the map - showing the flight path from one city to another - just an overview not very detailed...that is the one I am trying to duplicate

Oh, I didn't do that :P

Let me check in our planning thread. There should be site from where we got destinations.

I tried that site - but couldn't get the map for the flight path - so I am doing something wrong. No worries, I will just leave out that pic! ;)

I think you can do that with google maps

message 116: by Jen (new)

Jen (reader44ever) | 2930 comments Hello all, my team has a goal to "Sort your "to read" shelf by 'date added' and read a book that is number 251 or higher on your list (the first column before the book cover image)."

We have one member, however, who only has 100 books on her To-Read shelf. So...what should she do? Read a book numbered 90-100? Read a book numbered higher than 251 on one of another of our teammates shelves? (I have over 3,000 books on my To-Read shelf, for instance.)

I know I've seen the answer to this somewhere, but I can't remember where, so any advice would be most welcome! :-)

Thanks, all!

message 117: by Vicky (new)

Vicky (librovert) | 3138 comments I think the whole point is to read a book that's been sitting on your to do list for a while. I might go with 80-100 for her, that's 20% of the longest lingering books and seems reasonable!

Thanks, Vicky! I'll let our teammie know. :-)

And to the Mods, I think these sorts of goals would be better if they were to "read a book that is number 250 or lower." For someone like me, with over 3,000 books on my To-Read shelf, that would be a lot more challenging, since the earliest books I added have been languishing.

This "251 or higher" means I could choose book #3,060, which I just added on Saturday (the 14th of this month).

Unless there are already goals to read books lower than certain number? I haven't looked.

Yes, we can get a new itinerary on your spreadsheet :)
You can also advertise in the hitchhikers lounge for new team members, that is what other teams have done - or you can keep to a smaller team. Up to you

Hello ATW Players

Just in case anyone didn't sign up for Wobble, but is interested, we have room for a few new players. The challenge still has 15 weeks to run and does require active goodreads usage (checking in with your team every few days at least).

You can read more about it and sign up here

Johanna (jothie) | 26 comments Hey guys,

I'm waiting to join a team and I've been asking myself: do the teams compete against each other? Is there an overview of the different team's points? Is there some kind of winner? Or is each team just playing for themselves for the fun of it?

message 127: by Sam (new)

Sam | 1663 comments I am pretty sure that each team is just playing for themselves for the fun of it.

Maybe try writing the Mod account? That one sees more use. . .

BTW The new itinerary is great and we all love it. It was worth the wait.

I looked for a list but wasn't successful at finding one. But. . . Some books that I know of off the top of my head. . .

1) An Abundance of Katherines by John Green [Lots of Katherines and two Colins]
2) Strange the Dreamer by Laini Taylor [Great Ellen and Less Ellen; the "Great" and "Less" were added to their names to differentiate between them]
3) Because I'm Watching by Christina Dodd [John, Senior, and John, Junior]

You're very welcome. Hopefully one or another of those three will be appealing to you and your teammates if you can't identify any others.

Happy reading!

Also, one note: in An Abundance of Katherines, I don't now remember if multiples of Katherines actually appeared in the book. . .it's possible they were only mentioned. But there are definitely two Colins!

:-)

Tammie The next detour calls for a body part

Would 'legacy' in the title work for 'leg'

Would 'heart' be a body part?

Lisa - (Aussie Girl) | 6410 comments Tammie, I don't think legacy would work but heart definitely would fit.

agree

message 139: by Tammie (new)

Tammie ◈ Books count that are started after your team thread is created. Provided the book is started during your challenge period, it can be used at any point during your challenge for a task or detour

Just to clarify...does this mean that we can read ahead with out books if we choose? Our team is currently in business class...

Thanks,

Lisa - (Aussie Girl) | 6410 comments Question: If we read a really long word like NOVOSIBIRSK and we manage to do all the letters (with some people reading twice) do we get more points?

message 142: by Tammie (new)

Tammie Not sure if our team is doing the tarot card ‘wheel of fortune ‘ yet or not.
Q: do the words ‘wheel of fortune’ need to be together as a phrase or can we find each word separately.

Needs to be a phrase

Jess Penhallow | 276 comments Sonia wrote: "Romina wrote: "Can one book be used for more than 1 task or detour?"

Just once."

Is this rule per person or per group?

message 146: by Nanci (new)

Nanci | 2567 comments Our team has a detour that states "Read a book where a character's name is also a word."

One of our teammates has this question:
Hi girls. So I'm reading Kate Daniels's series and there is a character: Curran, I search and his name apparently means "cute" "quite" "lovable", does it counts for stop #6 (Read a book where a character's name is also a word)? People used it as a word, btw.

What do you think? Does that work?

message 147: by Jill (new)

Jill | 938 comments For the detour, in order to get maximum points, does everyone has to read a detour book or can 4 members read a detour and the rest of the team read any book?

message 148: by Nanci (new)

Nanci | 2567 comments Hi Jill,
I copied this from the rules:

DETOURS
◈ Completing a detour earns the team 25 points AND
◈ If at least 7 members of the team read a book for the detour, that is an additional 15 points AND
◈ If ALL team members read a book for the time you are at the stop, that is an additional 10 points

So by these rules it looks as if a minimum of 7 members must read for the detour. To earn the maximum points for the detour ALL team members must read.

message 149: by [deleted user] (new)

How much of the book has to be in the country?

message 150: by [deleted user] (new)

Does the book/short story have to have a link on Goodreads? Also, if it says that you can bank books does it mean that you can read a stop after you passed it?
