Hi guys,Here's a very important (and distressing) announcement:
I dropped by Bistro Vignette this evening and the stupid manager told me that they are not open during Saturdays. Lesson: in the Philippines, at least in Ortigas, reservations are not 100% guaranteed.
So we're changing the venue to Borough. It's inside The Podium (ground floor). Since it's only a couple of blocks away from the original venue, I thought that it wouldn't be much of an inconvenience. Here is an article and the menu. I haven't been there but I've just taken a leap of faith. I apologize for the really short notice. (view spoiler)
*pops in* If I remember correctly, Borough has really good grilled cheese sandwiches and tomato soup. Also, cookies and milk. :D
^Sakto lang ang taste ng food sa Borough for me. But I agree on the cookies (so soft!) and milk combo :D
And pumpkin ravioli and popcorn calamari! (Well according to my boss's daughter, who loves the place. :D)
The mezzanine area is not open until 10PM, so I reserved a long corner table, which is across the bar. If you've been to the February F2F, parang ganun ang magiging setup natin. The lights are dimmer though.Borough is inside The Podium. Nasa sulok siya, beside Kanto and nearby UCC. You just have to walk around the ground floor, which isn't that big.
Just go there if you can and if you want to talk about To the Lighthouse.

This will serve as a thread for announcements and other instructions.
EDIT: Venue is now at Borough - The Podium.
Borough is located inside The Podium, a small mall behind SM Mega Mall. It's on the ground floor, near Kanto and UCC. If you are not familiar with The Podium, please check out Google Maps.
Here is their menu. I will be there as early as 1:00 PM to indulge myself with food and drinks (because I wouldn't have time to do that when the discussion is ongoing, and because there's wine). You may place advance orders on this thread and I would happily take note of them. I am not sure how fast their service is, so it is better to be prepared.
Please come on time. Latecomers will be fined Php 20.00. This will be added to the pot money, which will be used for something else.
The online book discussion allows the participants to earn points. These points can be kept or spent during the F2F book discussion.
EDIT: I've changed my mind. Scratch all these. I've decided to just give bookish rewards to everyone who has answered all the questions at the F2F thread. Noisy people, particularly irrelevantly noisy people, will still be fined Php10.00 per instance. Pot money will be distributed among the Top 5 participants. If any of the Top 5 cannot attend, their share will be forfeited and this will be distributed among the remaining topnotchers.
During the F2F book discussion, everyone should be able to answer at least one question. Questions will be asked in a circular manner (clockwise). If a participant is not able to answer, he or she will pay Php 20.00 (to be added to the pot money). The question will be assigned to the next until it is answered. This cycle will go on until all questions are answered.
Let's admit it, some questions are just tougher than the others. But if you can't answer, you don't have to pay. This is where your earned points will come in handy as there are a couple of moves that will hopefully make the discussion more engaging.
Pass - If you choose to not answer the question presented to you, use this to assign it to the next participant. This is useful if you just want to eat or relax or indulge in quiet gossiping. 15 points.
Pick - If you wish to select and answer a question other than the one presented to you, use this. This is useful if you want to contribute to the discussion but need a question that you are most comfortable with. 10 points.
Assign - If you want to not answer the question and assign it to a specific participant, use this. This is useful if you don't want to answer and want to exhaust other participants. 5 points.
Note: Additional answers can still be given by others after the question has been initially answered.
The participant with the most points after the discussion wins the pot money. If there's a tie, the pot money will be split evenly. Any comments and suggestions will be very much appreciated. :)
