Eddie Santos How does YOUR writer begin the tour of the storyworld?
The beginning of the tour of the storyworld by going from present tense to past tense then back to present. In the flashback, a teacher was teaching first graders (French) and Patrick's dad stormed in and demanded to take Patrick home but he wasn't allowed to because he needed to sign out with the main office but the main office wouldn't let him take Patrick home because the wife has full custody. So, he pulled a gun the teacher's head and runs away Patrick.

Nick How does YOUR writer begin the tour of the storyworld?
Beck Mcdowell begins the tour of the story world by starting in a hospital on a normal sunny day with a girl in her hospital bed with bruises and scratches all over her body. She looks like she has taken a beating from many people.

Vincenzo Spiniello What point of view is the novel written in?
My author uses first person. She chose that because she wanted people to express their ideas about what happened. She wanted the reader to know what people thought about the crime scene. So it was totally understood by the reader.

What make your book fit its genre?

What make This is not a drill fit the realistic fiction is because there are a lot of realistic parts but not really any fiction. What i think can be fictional is exaggerated thing like like the man taking out a gun and putting it to the teacher's head

Eddie Santos The part that is ambiguous was when Jake took Mrs.Campbell outside so you don't know what going on with the other kids. She wanted to leave this unclear because she wants the readers to keep reading.

Riley Jake's parents are ambiguous, since they are obviously a very big part of Jake's life and all we know is that his mom somehow died and his father remarried a crazy woman who went through Jake’s drawers and cut up all the shirts she did not like.

Vincenzo Spiniello Stutts the guy with the gun has PTSD which means that he is suffering from the war. He has dramatized from the war he came back from that was in Iraq. He wants to take his son from the classroom, but the teacher won't let him. So he shot the security guard' and they are in a lock down.

Tucker Peterson In the book it takes place in present day and it is on Earth. A guy with a gun came to a school to pick up his kid because his wife told him he could not go near him. She told him that because he is psycho. He is psycho because he has a disease called PTSD.

Sydney Byck Jake, the main character, is faced with the problem of either getting the police when he goes outside with Mrs.Campbell and maybe having the kids get shot or going back and everyone being safe, but still stuck in the room for a long period of time. He choose to go back for the safety of others because he didn’t want anyone to be shot. The consequence of that decision is they are stuck. He didn’t have time to explain what is going on to the police or anyone so nobody has a clue whats going on or how to help them.

Riley In the book Jake’s friends had a choice of smoking the weed or not smoking it. Their decision was to smoke it which led them to the consequences of getting arrested.

Sophia.Mangone The mundane actions that keep me understanding the story is that when the kids go to school everyday and when the kids have to go to the bathroom. These two actions are repeated daily. When the kids go to the bathroom we learn a lot of information like new characters, getting help, and new arrivals to the story. This also proves that this is a normal school.

Nick What does a decision your character makes reveal to you about him or her?

In the book Jake’s friends decided to smoke weed, that shows us that they are sneaky, fearless and they are bad boys.

Sydney Byck My novel ends by having the rising action. When Shutt’s finds out that Tucker, his friend, killed himself, he was going to shoot himself. Jake didn’t want him especially because Patrick was there, so Jake tackled him and shoot himself. While this was going on, Patrick saw the hamster ran outside so he went after it and a new cop thought he was Shutts, and shoot him, leaving him with a concussion. And Shutt’s died when he went outside to see if his son was okay. I think this was a horrible ending. It sounds good, but it wasn’t. There was no actions until the last 10 pages and it was kind of boring and predictable.

Nick The novel “ This is Not a Drill” ends by having a circular ending, that is when a writer starts with a character's descriptions, thoughts and actions but then at the end of the book the writer goes back to that same scene in the beginning. In this book, It started in a hospital with Jake laying in a hospital bed and at the end of the book they went back to that same scene and throughout the actions of Jake the writer tells the readers why jake is in the hospital bed and what happened to him.

Tucker Peterson The novel "This Is Not A Drill" ends with the writer setting a mood, an emotional mood. The book was very emotional in the characters point of view and for the last part the author wanted to add one more emotional scene.

Riley The novel ends by having all of the characters that did not harm anyone have minor injuries that will still let them live. All the problems have mostly been solved except Jake’s stepmom. The beginning and the ending are the same so it is a parallel beginning. In the beginning they are in a hospital and at the end they are also in the hospital. And the next day things go back to as they were in school. And they also figured out who stole Jake’s note.
