SOLVED. Children's Book Series about a Family named Tucker [s]

I'm trying to remember the name of this series and the author I read in the mid-70s. I read a couple of books in this series about a family named Tucker with four or five kids. The books were written for kids in the 8-10 age range. I was 10 when I read them. My sense is that the books were written in the 50s or 60s. I only remember a couple of books. In one, the family befriends a homeless dog who someone said was "all tuckered out," which leads the kids to adopt the dog because their surname is Tucker. I believe in the end the dog's owner shows up to re-claim the dog.

In another book, a friend named Holly spends the summer with them. Holly likes a boy back in her hometown and with the help of one of the girls, writes five different letters to the boy. Each letter is signed with a different initial. First an "H," then an "O," then an "L," etc. Holly chickens out and decides not to send the letters. But one of the Tucker girls who was helping her goes behind her back and sends out the letters one by one without telling Holly. At the end of the story, the boy shows up at the Tuckers' house, saying that he received the letters she had written him.

I read these books in hardcover. I don't remember the illustrations on the covers, though I'm pretty sure they would have been drawn in color. Can anyone help, please?

There were quite a few Tucker family books. I read and loved them in the mid 60's and still have them. I recall the kids names still. Tina, Merry, Terry (twins), Penny, and Tom.
