message 651: by Veronica (new)

Veronica (ronireads13) | 816 comments Ugh traffic is the worst! I hate wasting time in it. Luckily, I dont have to take the freeway to get to work and can avoid it most of the time.

TPBM has big plans for New Year's Eve.

message 652: by Johanne (new)

Johanne *the biblionaut* | 1668 comments Well, I actually open all of them, since we celebrate Christmas on Christmas Eve in Denmark ;)

TPBM likes to read picture books.

message 653: by Ann (new)

Ann S | 624 comments Unfair. I want to answer all the questions. I HATE traffic. What a waste. Stay home and keep dogs calm on New Year's Eve. Always open one present on Christmas Eve and the rest Christmas. Love picture books. Can't get the librarian out of me that fast. just finished Boy + Bot. Loved it.
TPBM
Wishes they could answer more than one question in this discussion post.

message 654: by Betty (new)

Betty Q | 109 comments Yes, I do wish I could answer all the questions! I love this game! And, since I’ve had all my Christmas plans cancelled due to the flu (Flu A AND Flu B) and my sister just fell today and had to have surgery on both a foot and wrist (she got a bad break on the toe of her other foot but it didn’t require surgery) l’m going to guess that
TPBM
has had to adjust some of their holiday plans of New Year plans due to unforeseen events.

message 655: by Emily, Conterminous Mod (new)

Emily Bourque (emilyardoin) | 11215 comments Mod
I'm not big on fudge -- I'd much rather make peanut butter or Oreo truffles over fudge.

And yes, we usually host a NYE party at our house, but the unforeseen event is that my husband doesn't feel like hosting it this year. So I'm not quite sure what we will be doing to ring in the new year.

TPBM is participating in the Read-A-Thon.

message 656: by Anastasia (new)

Anastasia (anastasiaharris) | 1731 comments Betty I am sorry to hear about your troubles.
We have adjusted our Christmas plans but it is because of work. We always have a themed movie marathon on New Year's Eve. The kids love it. It is going to be triologies this year, but not LOTR. My daughter tells me they are too long.

I am thinking of participating in the games if not the entire read a thon.

TPBM has a New Year's resolution.

message 657: by Sophie (new)

Sophie (sawphie) | 2826 comments I hate traffic too, but audiobooks definitely make it easier to bear!

I do have a resolutions, not necessarily promoted by the new year but the main one is to stop getting influenced by people’s bad mood and negativism. Too bad for them if they can’t enjoy themselves, it’s not my fault and I shouldn’t take it personally.

TPBM doesn’t eat meat (I’m facing travelling in South America as a vegetarian and I need support haha)

message 658: by MJ (last edited Dec 22, 2018 07:10PM) (new)

MJ | 968 comments Except in Tiger Tiger flavoured ice cream. And the black liquorice in a brand of candy called Allsorts. (Do you get these outside Canada?) The rest? Gross.

And I want to answer all the questions too!!!

The person below me listens to opera music.

message 659: by Ann (new)

Ann S | 624 comments black licorice is beyond gross. Opera is good if in English so I can understand it. Otherwise I get lost in the shuffle and give up.
TPBM reads magazines as much as books.

message 660: by Lizzy (new)

Lizzy | 910 comments No, I don’t read magazines so much, though I do read newspapers quite a bit.
TPBM has already started reading a gift received this week

message 661: by Rachelnyc (new)

Rachelnyc | 943 comments Lizzy wrote: "No, I don’t read magazines so much, though I do read newspapers quite a bit.

Not yet since I want it to count towards next year!

TPBM is counting the days until they can start reading books for their 2019 challenge.

message 662: by Ann (new)

Ann S | 624 comments YES YES YES, want to post them on my "currently reading" list and get going.
TPBM is done with Christmas and wants the decorations down, now!

message 663: by Emily, Conterminous Mod (new)

Emily Bourque (emilyardoin) | 11215 comments Mod
I've been so tempted to take down my decorations, but I like to keep them up through the new year. They may come down today or tomorrow though...

TPBM has bookish gift cards to spend!

message 664: by Tracy (last edited Dec 27, 2018 01:06PM) (new)

Tracy (tracyisreading) | 2573 comments No bookish gift cards, but I got a tote bag that's the names of all the books that have been banned here in CT printed on it and also a really cute T shirt that says " Just...one...more...chapter..." 😊

I'm ready to take down my decorations and start organizing the house to find room for all this new christmas stuff!! But I'll leave it up until after the vacation for the girls.

TPBM is going to be organizing their house for the new year

message 665: by Sara (new)

Sara (phantomswife) I do sincerely hope so. I am also trying to read all the unread books on my shelves, which will clear a bit of space in 2019 and make tidying my "library" much easier. I am learning to let go of books that I am unlikely to read again.

TPBM knows a famous person.

message 666: by eli (new)

eli | 2 comments Define Famous I know Radio Personalities.

TPBM Is planning their reading list for 2019.

message 667: by MJ (last edited Dec 27, 2018 01:03PM) (new)

MJ | 968 comments I've already planned my reading list for next year. I know which audio book I'll start the year with (it's a book for another group's challenge) and I have a book waiting on my bedside table to be read for ATY's 2019 prompt #1. My backup book for prompt #2 is waiting at the library for me (hoping my first choice book will become available soon. I might read both).

TPBM is staying home on New Year's eve.

message 668: by Sara (new)

Sara (phantomswife) Yes, we make it a point not to be out on the roads at New Year's.

And famous is whatever YOU define it to be...a big fish in a small pond is famous in his own way.

TPBM prefers classics to contemporary fiction.

message 669: by Betty (new)

Betty Q | 109 comments Oooo! I truly dislike the classics. I've tried, honestly I have, but I read solely for pleasure and entertainment, and classics just seem like too much work for me.
TPBM enjoys reading well-worn, used books more than new books.

message 670: by Emily, Conterminous Mod (new)

Emily Bourque (emilyardoin) | 11215 comments Mod
Nope, I'll take a beautiful new book over a used one any day. I'm terrible about judging a book by it's cover, so the worn books tend to sit on my shelves for ever.

TPBM prefers to read hardcovers to paperbacks (I do!)

message 671: by Ann (new)

Ann S | 624 comments whenever I read a hardback in bed I fall asleep and drop it on my face. Paperbacks are safer.
TPBM can't wait for the season to change.

message 672: by Deena (new)

Deena Abutaha (mwinamman) | 67 comments I hate winter! It's so cold. I wish spring would come already.

TPBM prefers fantasy books over any other genre.

message 673: by Emily, Conterminous Mod (new)

Emily Bourque (emilyardoin) | 11215 comments Mod
Fantasy is actually one of my least favorite genres. I'll do a YA dystopian or magical realism, but full on fantasy is not my jam.

TPBM is already ahead on their reading goal for the year.

message 674: by Tracy (new)

Tracy (tracyisreading) | 2573 comments I am 1/100, and 1/3 of the way into my second book but I plan on reading a few quick ones today and over the weekend. I have so many holds that just came in and more to go pick up.

TPBM set their reading goal at 52 this year

message 675: by Edie (new)

Edie | 1148 comments No, it's 125. I just finished my second book (first for the ATY challenge).

TPBM is taking part in more than one challenge.

message 676: by Emily, Conterminous Mod (new)

Emily Bourque (emilyardoin) | 11215 comments Mod
Definitely am. I always have challenges going on in the Wacky Challenges group. My main focus, though, is the ATY challenge, especially since I'm reading in order this year.

message 677: by Ann (new)

Ann S | 624 comments I am finally involved in too many challenges and book clubs this year. But I read a ton anyway, I may as well be.
TPBM hates books with over 500 pages AND books with less than 150.

message 678: by Johanne (new)

Johanne *the biblionaut* | 1668 comments No. I like books. Short, long, with pictures, without pictures, fluff, experimental, old, new, for children, for adults. BOOKS. All kinds, but obviously not all books :)

TPBM know they should probably get off Goodreads and read books instead.

message 679: by Sophie (new)

Sophie (sawphie) | 2826 comments Definitely! I’ve been at 80% of a book for a few days I need to finish it tonight!

TPBM is in the Southern Hemisphere

message 680: by Hilde (new)

Hilde (hilded) | 821 comments Nope, it’s dark and wintery here now. Enjoy the Southern Hemisphere and the summer, Sophie ☀️

TPBM is planning on going skiing tomorrow. (I am)

message 681: by Sara (new)

Sara (phantomswife) Nope, you can't ski on dirt, but have a great time yourself, Hilde.

TPBM has already had a 5-star read.

message 682: by Emily, Conterminous Mod (new)

Emily Bourque (emilyardoin) | 11215 comments Mod
I just finished Educated and it was absolutely a 5 star read. I haven't felt this way about a book since I read The Hate U Give in January of last year... I just want to tell everyone to read it!

TPBM is eating pizza this weekend.

message 683: by Sophie (new)

Sophie (sawphie) | 2826 comments Hilde wrote: "Nope, it’s dark and wintery here now. Enjoy the Southern Hemisphere and the summer, Sophie ☀️"

I’m in Patagonia wearing gloves and beanie because it’s freezing haha, but thanks!

I ate pizza two days ago!

TPBM likes board games

message 684: by Sara (new)

Sara (phantomswife) I do love trivia-style board games and used to play Monopoly a lot when my sisters and I were young. Sadly, don't have anyone to play with anymore, so I don't get to indulge much.

TPBM thinks they have the best mother on earth.

message 685: by Bryony (new)

Bryony (bryony46) | 1081 comments Definitely. :-)

TPBM likes to watch sports.

message 686: by Emily, Conterminous Mod (new)

Emily Bourque (emilyardoin) | 11215 comments Mod
I play fantasy football (NFL - American football), so I follow that sport pretty closely. Other than that, I like to watch my students play, but I don't really enjoy watching other sports.

TPBM is reading a book with a blue cover.

message 687: by Lizzy (new)

Lizzy | 910 comments Nope -- right now I'm on a red one The Sympathizer by Viet Thanh Nguyen .

TPBM has changed their profile picture within the last six months.

message 688: by Ann (new)

Ann S | 624 comments yes twice. I had dog Fergus up and he died, so I pulled him and put Brea up. Then got the puppy a few weeks ago and posted him now.
I am reading a brown covered book
I like to watch football, rodeo and horse racing and I eat pizza every Thursday night.
TPBM is wearing shorts and sandals

message 689: by Tracy (new)

Tracy (tracyisreading) | 2573 comments Oh hell NO!! Its 24 degrees and windy out, I'm all bundled up. ( but I did change my picture today )

TPBM has changed careers at least once

message 690: by Betty (new)

Betty Q | 109 comments I’ve changed careers a few times. I started out as a special education teacher, went into social services, a brief period in telecommunication, back to teacher, and now I’ve just started my second semester as a school librarian.

TPBM is going to bed early tonight!

message 691: by Emily, Conterminous Mod (new)

Emily Bourque (emilyardoin) | 11215 comments Mod
I sure am! We went back to school today and I had a full schedule -- I'm exhausted! Nothing quite like that back to school tired.

TPBM is reading a YA book.

message 692: by Edie (new)

Edie | 1148 comments YES! I am reading The Sun is Also a Star which is a YA book.

TPBM lives in a state that starts with "M" or "N".

message 693: by Edie (new)

Edie | 1148 comments Emily wrote: "I just finished Educated and it was absolutely a 5 star read. I haven't felt this way about a book since I read The Hate U Give in January of last year... I just wan..."

Those are two of my favorite reads of last year.

message 694: by Emily, Conterminous Mod (new)

Emily Bourque (emilyardoin) | 11215 comments Mod
My state starts with an L, so close but nope! (I LOVE Nicola Yoon and The Sun is Also a Star! Looks like we have similar tastes, Edie!)

TPBM has gone to the gym in the last week.

message 695: by Sophie (new)

Sophie (sawphie) | 2826 comments No gym for me, but I hiked 20km in Tuesday and 24km on Wednesday! 💪🏻 (There’s nothing like those gorgeous Patagonian landscapes to get you going)

TPBM is already ahead on this year’s challenge

message 696: by Lizzy (new)

Lizzy | 910 comments Having read two books, the site says I am 1% ahead.

TPBM likes to swim.

message 697: by MJ (new)

MJ | 968 comments I DO! The problem is getting into the (cold) water. Once I'm in, good luck getting me back on land.

TPBM has never had surgery.

message 698: by Emily, Conterminous Mod (new)

Emily Bourque (emilyardoin) | 11215 comments Mod
I had knee surgery when I was 17 (ballet injury) and gallbladder removal this time last year. Two surgeries over 30 years isn't too bad!

TPBM enjoys vanilla ice cream.
(It was 70 degrees here today, so I had a big bowl!)

message 699: by MJ (last edited Jan 11, 2019 06:30PM) (new)

MJ | 968 comments Emily wrote: "I had knee surgery when I was 17 (ballet injury) and gallbladder removal this time last year. Two surgeries over 30 years isn't too bad!

I had knee surgery when I was 17 too! In my case, ski accident, where prairie girl met mountain for the first time. Interestingly, I had surgery too at around this time last year (mid-December), but not for my gallbladder. That would be weird. (Although ( had a gallbladder attack last summer).

message 700: by Sara (new)

Sara (phantomswife) Ice Cream works for me regardless of the season or temperature. Just cannot say no, especially if it is homemade.

TPBM likes champagne.
