Applying to be a librarian

You could try and click the application link again. If it works, your application has been rejected (remember, you don't get a notification if that is the case). Otherwise, you'll get an error message saying you have already applied and it is being handled.

You only get the email if you have been accepted as a librarian.

But, no notification doesn't mean you were rejected or that you need to re-apply.
It may be that goodreads doesn't need more librarians at this time (or not in the areas you gave as reason for applying). It doesn't necessarily mean your application was rejected or that you need to re-apply. Your application could just still be pending a need.

Anyway, I will wait and see what happens. :)
Regards,

What does it mean when you start your words by " may be" ? To me It means that you assume, doesn't it?

One more question, how shall I contact the staff who are responsible of this issue?

With "it may be" D.A. just meant that there can be more than one reason why you haven't heard anything yet. 1) you were rejected, or 2) your application is kept in file until there is a need for librarians with your qualities.
I personally don't think Goodreads would keep a file with pending applications, but that is just an assumption on my part. ;-)
D.A. is a longtime GR member and former librarian (who waived her librarian status a few years back), so she might well be better informed than me in this respect.

I don't know! May be they have enough librarians to do the job.

The first time I applied either there was a bug or I accidentally deleted the why I wanted to be a librarian section. That part is very important.
Also if you speak other languages I would mention that.
Good luck!

An active user does not necessarily make a good librarian. It helps if you have qualities that are useful for librarian work on GR, f.e. accuracy, and if you are prepared to follow the GR rules even if you may not always agree with them.

Bearing in mind GR librarians improve the site for free, why would they want to limit these?

But how would you demonstrate that?

I offer to improve the quality, offer rejected. GR loss.

But how would you demonstrate that?"
As with any job application, you write your qualities in the application form.
I've seen enough GR librarians completely ignoring the librarian manual and going against the most important rules to understand why GR would want to keep the number in check. When GR started out, everybody could not only add, but also do edits and it became such a mess that they started appointing librarians instead.

Ok, well I did that twice - I guess they don't want me! Like Jacob, I'd say it's their loss!

You can also begin reviewing the librarian policy manual you will have to adhere to so you can be ready to do edits when approved. If you find anything confusing, ask in this group and/or follow along on any threads requesting whatever edits confused you.
I don't "know" (or know which particular languages at this time), but like previous posters, I do assume that language skills are still needed.
[Again, you will only be notified when approved -- they will not communicate with you about if or why rejected. That's not me assuming or speculating -- that's what Rivka and other staff members have repeatedly said. Like at https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/... ,
Rivka and other staff also deliberately do not say what why I want to be a librarian answer gets an application approved -- I would speculate their reasoning is that if they said anyone listing "I like editing books with purple covers" on their application would be approved then every application would start saying "I like editing books with purple covers."
I did always assume the average length of time it took for librarian requests (or for particular types of librarian requests) to be filled was possibly used as one indicator of needing more librarians. That if it was taking hours / days /weeks for edits of _____ books/fields to be addressed that applications mentioning _____ might be looked for. Another possible indicator for needing more librarians might be if they had to revoke a lot of librarian statuses because stubbornly and repeatedly not following policies (something else they don't publicly post).
Not exactly on topic but I didn't quit over any issues with librarians or the librarians program -- I just quit when goodreads was purchased by retailer Amazon because I don't volunteer for retail businesses. (view spoiler)

You have to put a link of the book cover for librarians to be able to add the cover.

You should also inform them of the source of the book cover.

What can librarians do?
Goodreads members with Librarian Status can edit book and author data, add book covers, and combine different editions of books. Each book and author has one unique entry in the Goodreads database. Librarians help correct book issues, like if the data isn't correct, or is missing things like the book description or URL.
Why not make everyone a librarian?
Initially, we allowed everyone to be a librarian. Anyone could edit book and author data, add cover images, or combine books. However, we found that while 99% of the people did a good job, occasionally we had someone who messed things up. So we created a new status that we bestow on those interested in helping keep things nice and tidy, which has worked out well..."
I have applied to be a librarian a few days ago. It told me that an email will be sent to me to confirm being a librarian, but I didn't receive any email yet.
Can you please help me to be a librarian.
Best regards,
