I'm thinking about getting an e-reader (because my phone is getting too small for my eyes to read) but I'm not sure which one to get. I prefer one with a paper-white or non-glare screen because the back light makes my eyes tired. Any suggestions?

Hi Rebecca,If you're looking for the newest e-reader out there with the best ratings, I would suggest the Kindle Voyage. It comes with a hefty price tag of around $199 though. If you are looking for something a bit more budget friendly, the best bargain e-reader out there to date is the 2014 Amazon Kindle. You can get one in around $80, and it has pretty solid reviews/meets all your requirements.
Hope this helps. Feel free to contact me if you need any advice!

I love my nook glow; has the e-ink technology so it is like reading a page and doesn't strain my eyes but has the light built in for night reading. I think there is a newer version than the glow with longer battery life and maybe even water proof? I highly recommend it. I also encourage the nook because it uses epub format so you can buy ebooks at more places than just B&N. I believe with kindle you are forced to buy from amazon (though I could be mistaken.)
I am in the Nook camp. Biggest feature is that if you have any issues you walk into any Barnes & Noble and get hands on, in your face help. The Nook Glowlight is amazing for simply reading books, but everyone in my house also has a Nook tablet of some sort for magazines, Netflix, books, internet, etc. Just my 2 cents.
I'm on a third e-reader. I still love paper books, but my Kindle is a huge part of my life. It makes total sense economically /ebooks are cheaper/ and practically. It's not only for people who travel. It's also for storage purposes /if you read a lot/.There are several functions that I love; the dictionary /looking up words just by touching on them/ and the size adjustment. When I'm tired in the evening, I love that I can make the letters bigger for less strain on my eyes.
Kindle made the biggest progress /no offense/ to other e-readers, but I think they have gone through several generations/models/ that the PAPERWHITE is amazing.
I tried KINDLE FIRE, IPAD and hated it. The black touch screen is impossible on the sun /glare/ and the constant cleaning /fingerprints/ drove me bunkers....haha.
But it's totally a personal preference. Good luck. :-)
I have both Kindle and Nook.I have Kindle Fire HD, 32gig that I got for my birthday some years ago. I use it for those free ebooks from Amazon.
And I also have Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 Nook. That's where I side-load my files as well as videos/movies for on the go. It's like a tablet but with a dedicated e-reading capacity.
My husband has two Nooks and I have the Kindle Fire. I couldn't tell you which one function better -- he picked the Nooks because they are smaller than the Kindle and he says easier to use when reading in bed.But I enjoy mine and it is especially handy when traveling. Can't take it out to read in the sun but then I still have physical books for that. I think it all comes down to personal preference. Good luck on your research.
By the way, some of you have been talking about being on your second or third e-reader. I've always had just the one. How long are they supposed to work and how do you know when its getting time to replace?
When I'm at home I use a Kindle Touch and I have the Kindle App on my tablet for when I'm going somewhere that I need to amuse myself.Maybe an alternate way to chose which one is to check the prices of the types of books you read. Maybe that would help you decide.
I'm a fan of iPad, although mine is an older model. I like having music and movie functions all in one.
I have both a Nook Glow and Kindle Fire, and actually prefer reading on the Nook. Both are great for reading at night. I find I like the way the Nook functions more than the Kindle, though it's nice to have a cheap tablet on occasion, as I can access the internet through that, but can only visit B&N with the Nook Glow. But then -- sometimes it's nice NOT to have the distraction of the internet.

I got one of the originals and loved it, but it was very basic and only for reading actual books. I've gone through a couple because now I have a Glowlight for reading books only (outdoors) and because it's pretty tiny and then a Nook tablet because I have slowly subscribed to all magazines on my Nook instead of in the mail. I can also watch Netflix and browse the web on the tablet and that's something the Glowlight is really made for.
I think it all depends on what you want to use it for. None of the Nooks I have owned has ever broken or stopped working. I just hand them down to others when I pick up a newer model.
